View 1 RepliesI'm trying to get my program to send very simple text email messages. I did do a search beforehand, and found that I was having the same issue as someone else, but the specific question I have was not answered --
I've learned that if you're trying to send mail, you need an SMTP server... I found this list here but every one of them I've tried yields the same "Failure sending mail" error.

Is the problem that I need to show "credentials" (i.e. user/pass)? If so, what would those credentials be? Can I use my yahoo email SMTP server with my login info to do it? And is this all I'd need to add to add the credentials?

I'm looking to create a simple program with 1 text field, 1 button, and an area to display what is happening and if there were any errors.My goal is to be able to delete user profiles stored on a network drive by simply putting in the users ID and hitting the button.I'll use my own id as an example:If I put mdesieno in the txt box and hit the button, I'll need the button to map to the network drive and delete mdesieno.corp and mdesieno.v2 I would like the bottom half of the window to display text like:
"Deleting User Profile mdesieno.corp" SUCCESSFUL
"Deleting User profile mdesieno.V2" SUCCESSFUL
To me this seems pretty simple, but as I said, I do not know VB yet. Is there code out there that is already written to do something like this?
1. Something similarly I want with another button - when I click button2, I want to remove specific object - let say panel2, not hide it.
2. The second thing is that I want to put text from my textbox into excel, but in specific row. I would like to do that with word file as well. I would like to put text form my textbox in specific table, or row, or line. I only know to put text into a file.
What I would like to do is create a command button that launches an email from outlook attaching the current word document to a set email address. I'm not fussed if the word document is saved or not as it is only the email receipent that needs it, likewise I don't mind if the code instructs the email to send of just opens it ready to be sent.I have read through loads of forums and tried loads of codes but cannot get any to work.

1. Asks the user type his/her email address into a textbox.
2. When the user clicks the "Evaluate Email Address" button, one of two message boxes pops up: "That is a valid email address!" with an "Information" icon, or "That is an invalid email address!" and on a second line, "Please retype your email address.", with an "Exclamation" icon
3. To be considered valid, the email address must -include an "@" symbol, and -it must end in either ".com", ".net", or ".org" or ".edu" (I don't know how to check a string and test if its last four characters end with any of these and make it say not valid email address. I think I might have to use a case statement)

I have created a custom logonui.exe in VB.NET and I know how to make it replace the existing logonui.exe, but I am having trouble with the functions, such as shutdown, restart and log in. I don't need to get the list of users, because there is only one user account on the system and it is not password protected. I just need it to log in to the account when the user clicks a button and to be able to shutdown when the user clicks a different button.

How can I make a program so you click a button and select a File using a OpenFileDialog and click send on your computer and it will send the file to a different computer and then a SaveFileDialog will show asking where to save the file on the other computer. Oh ya I cant use WinSock or whatever becuase im using Windows Vista 64 Bit. I need it because I for some reason cant use printer sharing. whether that particular program is allowed to be open and if so before the program can be opened a password dialog will appear asking the user to enter the defined password in order to continue opening the program. Is this possible? Also should the password entered not match up, the program/process will not be allowed to open and will be closed/cancelled.

Im learning Visual Basic 2010 on my programming class and we reached the part of file handling. Here i tried to make a simple program that can create a text file with the content of what i type on the textbox, basically i create the file if it doesn't exist, and if it already exists i append the content to it. Once the file is saved i can read it using the "Open" button. Unfortunataly, whenever i try to create the file, the compiler gives me an error saying that it cannot modify a closed file, although i've followed up the execution instruction by instruction and i can't find the error.
