We are trying to implement a calendar in an asp.net page and link it a database. The calendar should highlights dates based on data in the database tables similar to airline ticket booking calendar.

View 1 RepliesI am attempting to create a long range calendar that dynamically loads (and unloads) event data as the user scrolls left or right through time. I'm really struggling to figure out how to lay the basic framework of the UI out and how to dynamically build the interface as the user scrolls by clicking and dragging the mouse in the view area. See the image below for a basic diagram of the intent. Each slice would have potentially multiple rectangles in it for events that occurred on that day (slice). I would like each slice to be a canvas to allow me to position those rectangles appropriately.
There are a few problems that I am not yet sure how to tackle but this is the first big one that I've been mulling over for a while and can't quite wrap my head around:
I know how to dynamically create controls but how would I go about adding things to one end of the scrollable content while removing things from the other depending on the way the user is scrolling?

I want to create a calendar control to display employees vacation schedules for the year. It could be either monthly or scrolling weekly. It will draw its data from Access. I'm just looking for some general input on how some others might accomplish this. I know there are some paid options but my boss said I am on a $0 budget. A couple of ideas I had are:
1. Make a monthly view comprised of labels and textboxes for the actual dates. Populate the texboxes with a series of sql statements
2. Use a datagridview bound to a crosstab query, but I don't know how to have the datagridview show one week after the other.

I would like to code it so when the ImageButton is clicked a calendar popup appears and when they select a date on the popup it goes away and the date is populated into the txt. Format MM/DD/YYYY. I need to pull the back end data from an outlook calendar into a SQL database. I would liek to build the program using VB.NET. I have no idea on how to do this. I have connected to Active directory before usign VB.NET and would think it would be similar in terms of connecting to the exchange server to get the data.

View 4 RepliesThe Calendar control (the Month Calendar) control in VB 2008. I am creating an attendance timesheet and I want the Calendar to color each date differently like e.g An employee Paul is selected from a list.
On the calendar I select the month. (The dates are not supposed to be selectable). Then lets say it is June. He is late on the 1st and the Second, so those days are supposed to be colored red (the whole block). Let's also say he is absent on the fourth and so I want that date to be coloured black. How do I do this? I tried finding a query and my friend told me that this functionality is not available in the current control and that I was best off making my own control (???).
I have tried selecting specific dates and bolding them (there is a function that allows this) but I am stumped trying to find two different ways to differentiate colours. Second:- How do I link a calendar with an Access Database?

I am looking for the best way to do this and from searching I think that injecting a DLL is the best route. I am 'simply' wanting to create a button or link label on a window from a compiled .exe I do not have source code to that will launch another program.
