I have created a windows form that has a datagridview linked to a DB from a DataSet. i have draged the fields from the Data Sources navigation window to various controls on my form. all works well. then i tried building my program. my first ever build. i don't know what is wrong or what i have to do. when i try to run my exe, i have the following message. can someone help me fix this?

I have a large form that is set up from master-detail datasets in Visual Studio 2008.I havene master table with a large amount of detail tables. Several of the detail tables also have detail tables linked.Now I need to add a master table that sits on top of my existing master table making it a detail table.

I am working on VB.Net. I have a sub form with a datagridview, that is being loaded with the criteria taken from another form. Hence this form is called with parameters. Here is the code that calls the sub form.

Now, I need to refresh this sub form every -- minutes, depending on how the user wants it to be. For this I have given a NumericUpDown control to select the mins. All this works fine. But how do I refresh the dataset and the datagridview?

Anyway, I wrote a view with a union query in SQL Server that grabs data from a linked SQL server.
Anytime I try to add this object as a dataset in VB.NET it completely bombs out on me with this ugly error message...

I'm completely stumped as to why I can't create a dataset from a view that references a linked SQL server. It's not this specific view either, all views that reference this linked server bomb out.

I want to have multipul fourms on my webbrowser and i've never done it before so I created a new windows form and put a button on my taskbar that would show the form this is my script Show(Form2) but when I click the button my whole project closes. it also did this with an about box.

I have created a windows form application, but when i publish it (to cd setting), and then try and install it, (on windows 7, only tried there so far), I get a cannot open or read mainfest file, or cannot connect to download from the original pc's IP address error messages.
I have spent considerable time relearning visual basic (used microsoft basic man many years ago), and now want to use the program on my other computers I can upload/paste the error file if needed

I have a DataGridView on a form that is being populated from a SQL table dataset by giving criteria from a previous form. I have 6 columns in the dataset, of which the last column should be combo box column containing items "Done" and "Pending". How do I make this bound column to a combo box column and display the value as well as the alternate item too in the combo box?

This must be a common problem, so perhaps someone can point me to a Knowledgebase article. I've got a form that works fine in a completed project. It's a windows form that uses a dataset and tableadapter (which show in the tray below). Now I'm developing a different project that requires a very similar form. I want to "copy" that form into my new project, make some minor changes, and then save it under a new name.

I think I fried my brain. Something so easy and I can't figure it out. I have a windows form with a datagrid and a dataset and some textboxes.I have a button that populates the textboxes with the selected row from the datadrid. That works.The user then makes changes to those text boxes.Now I would like to update the dataset with those new values and can not figure it out.If you could please give me some sample code,

Currently I have DataGridView box, clicking generate button fills it with a query from the database.I want the add button to add another row filled using the same query, so far I cannot get it to do it.Current generate button code:
Me.TableAdapter.FillBy1(Me.DataSet.App)
Add button code:
Me.DataSet.App.Rows.Add() - this does add a new empty row
I tried sticking the generate code inside (between add brackets) it but that just did the same thing as the generate code.

I have a typed dataset with table adapters. I use this method because it makes it easier to design the layout of my DataGridView.The problem is I have added a new table to my dataset. When I go to the "Data Sources" list view, I can see the new table.However, if I add a new DataGridView to my form then attempt to bind it to my new data table, the table will not show up in the list of tables for that dataset.

I have a datagridview linked to a dataTable loaded from a sql server via an adapter.I wish to sort one of the column: Filenumber.The Columns is a string. For example:
M-099
M-756
M-777
M-1000
But when i sort the columns by using Me.DataGrid.Sort(DataGrid.Columns(9), System.ComponentModel.ListSortDirection.Ascending), it turns out to be:
M-099
M-1000
M-756
M-777
I would like to know how to sort it like:
M-099
M-756
M-777
M-1000
How should i go about it? I've thought of getting rid of the M- in front and putting it into another column, but it makes filtering nuisance.Also, is it true the a custom sort via an IComparer is only applicable to things without a binding source?

One section of my latest project idea involves linking several form controls to the Google map (distance calculating section), which is area I'm not familiar with.
What I would like to achieve is following: (VB2010) I would like to link two combo boxes on my form to Google map (Start Address and End Address)as well as two labels representing distance & ETA time to Google map (Suggested route, option No.1, highlighted section).
As soon as user select values from combo drop downs on my form, code performs search trough Google web page and return values to my labels on a form. At the same time database would be populated with a same search values (Start Address, End Address, Distance in Km and ETA time)
Link to a web page seems to be a very common request within community members but I did not find anything similar to what I would like to do, so it makes me think that my project idea is going to be" hard bone". I do not need Google web page displayed on my form in a split container or in any other way.

I have a datagridview in my win form It has a calander cell which populate on first cell click means any row cell (0) . dgv has allowusertoaddrow property true .I used the code [URL]..now the problem is when I change the value of calander cell . and leave the cell instead of adding a single blank row it add three rows. and first two rows have the values for the autoincrement column and last row is full blank.

I have a bound DGV that took a bit of work to get its columns set up. I'd like to show a 1-row version of this identical DGV on a second windows form. Is there a way to programatically place a copy on the second form. I would adjust the height and position of the 1-row version, and create a new binding source on the second form so that I could filter the data.

I did a search in google and got some codes too but I am not able to implement in my code as the way I am binding data to gridview is different than the one shown by other codes (that i got from google). I have a search page in my application where I am searching the database for the records that meet the specified conditions that the user selects. All of this works by creating the dataset, datatable, and dataadapter in the code. I then take a created bindingsource link it to the created datatable and then attach the bindingsource to my datagridview to display the results. Now what I am trying to do is to figure the Mean, Median, Mode and Standard Deviation of the results that were found above. My question is how to I run a select query on the code created table. I have the select query I want to use and when I try to use it in the code it talks about the connection. Now I have a dataset that is part of the project and I have the on just for the search page. Let me know if you need any code samples.

i have a Userform that I created in MS Word that automates almost half my job. I'm just looking to re-create this form in VB.Net so that I can keep up with the trends.What I did previously was load a listbox based on the contents of a data table in another word document. I've searched for other methods of creating a datasource in VB 2010 Express but I'm unsure how to load the contents of a dataset or datatable as opposed to a table from MS Word. Ideally, I'd like to abandon using Word tables and create a dataset in VB and load a listbox based on that. I do not have a copy of MS Access and I'm unfamiliar with MySql, which I'm guessing would are the easiest methods of loading a dataset. I also thought that maybe if I could create a seperate form (let's just call it form1) specifically for entering new data and saving the form as data is added, then linking the datasource from that form to a second form (form2) that has the listbox that will populate with the contents from the data in form1.

i was thinking. is it possible to bring the rows that we click at datagridview and bring it into another form. which mean i click on a data that are on the datagridview, then it will pop up a form, inside the form, there will be have the data we have click on the datagridview, and we can edit and save at that form. Can it be done? if yes, how do i gonna bring it over? i only manage to make a windows pop out only. but cant bring the data over.

I am attempting to update an existing winforms application, that was created with a dataset control on all the winforms pages. I have ported it from VS 2008 to VS 2010 and I need to update the database section and connect it to the SQL backend using traditional code method.In the Solution explorer, when I click on the Dataset files, and click "Exclude From project" I am unable to build the project.Is it advisable to comment out the code lines that refer to the dataset in the .designer.vb files?

I have created an application in which I have to make a report with ReportViewver from Microsoft.Everything ok until now. I have created the report and for this report I have created a dataset. This dataset contains data for every month in every year from 2010 to 2015. With this dataset I am populating a graphic but my problem is that I want to select the year and create graphic for one year.I do not know how to insert a parameter in the dataset. In sql is very easy by in Access is different and if I try to put something like ...' where year_column=@year_parameter' I receive an error.

I do not know much of datasets. I have created a local database with a table as per img 1 attached, and I use them in a simple drop down selector as per img 2. But I get the message as per img 3 , and I played around with the dataset, removing teh primarkey, etc.

I am writing an application that is doing a file conversion.I created a new process in order to run an exe and pass it some arguments in order to do the file conversion. I ran this in the Submit button click event.I added an event handler for when the Process had exited and then continued my code, since I had to wait for the file conversion to complete before continuing.
Everything is running fine now up until the point where I am trying to call a FillBy for one of my datasets. My fill by is accepting a parameter UserID and filling it based on the user id, which is selected in a combo box in the program itself.I keep getting exceptions and it immediately exits the program whenever I try and use this fillby method, if I take it out it completes successfully; however, the new row I just inserted was not added.
I tried adding a tryparse for the value selected from the UserID combobox but I get this cross-thread exception, so I have a feeling the 2 are related.

I have an VB application that I developed in Visual Studio 2008. The back end is SQL. Application stores quite a bit of information and gets updated daily by users. It also connects to AD to get u/p, adds new accounts in AD and adds mailboxes. Users connect to it through Citrix. We noticed big spikes in memory usage. The executable itself is less than 5Mb; if I run it and it opens main form - memory usage jumps to about 19Mb, open a report - it jumps to 80 Mb. If I open the form that is linked to multiple tables - it jumps to 157 Mb. Once users start pulling new information in, update it and connect to AD or Exchange - it could jump to 250 Mb. Also noticed that if user with read only rights has application opened and idle - memory usage constantly changes with a pattern
like 17Mb - 19 Mb - 15 Mb - 17 Mb and so on. This user wasn't even using computer at the time. In general - what could cause such jumps in memory usage? What is the best way to prevent it? On the server we have Windows Server 2003 SE
