Datagridview Linked To A DataTable Loaded From A Sql Server Via An Adapter?
Apr 27, 2010
I have a datagridview linked to a dataTable loaded from a sql server via an adapter.I wish to sort one of the column: Filenumber. The Columns is a string. For example:
M-099
M-756
M-777
M-1000
But when i sort the columns by using Me.DataGrid.Sort(DataGrid.Columns(9), System.ComponentModel.ListSortDirection.Ascending), it turns out to be:
M-099
M-1000
M-756
M-777
I would like to know how to sort it like:
M-099
M-756
M-777
M-1000
How should i go about it? I've thought of getting rid of the M- in front and putting it into another column, but it makes filtering nuisance. Also, is it true the a custom sort via an IComparer is only applicable to things without a binding source?
I'm trying to setup some way to reload values once the uniqueID is selected from a combobox. once the this is selected, it has to loadup the values of the other comboboxs with the saved Choose. I've got the the point of the values are Inserted into the database and save the inital chooses.
But now i got to the point to re load the information from that ID i not sure how to go about it, I tryed using Databindings It loaded the data under a query to filter the Data to the correct Values but it ovisuly removed the Pre determinded values that are set in the combobox.
on a windows form i have a combobox called currency, it is populated by a table-adapter called exchan-gerate which is turn populated by a dataset called mydataset. on form load, i issue update commands to the back-end database that holds the table which populates the dataset - they work. if i look at the update to the combobox, they are not reflected until i exit and restart the app - then they're fine. further down the form load i've tried:
am i missing something silly to have the values in the combobox change and refresh at the time of the update to the database? as i said, an exit and restart of the app displays the accurate data.
I have a vb.net form to add, modify or delete the product list..i have a datagridview in which i m loading data from sql server datatable...now i have a text box which accepts code for the product..i want that when i press a key, all data starting with that key should be highlighted in datagridview.....
eg i have product codes A001 A002 A003 C001 D001,, etc..
Now i press A in text box...in datagridview all data with A should be highlighted
Anyway, I wrote a view with a union query in SQL Server that grabs data from a linked SQL server.
Anytime I try to add this object as a dataset in VB.NET it completely bombs out on me with this ugly error message...
ERROR [42000] [Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server Driver] [SQL Server] The operation could not be performed because the OLE DB Provider 'SQLOLEDB' was unable to begin a distributed transaction. ERROR [01000] [Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server Driver] [SQL Server] [OLE/DB provider returned message : new transaction cannot enlist in the specified transaction coordinator] ERROR [01000] [Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server Driver] [SQL Server] OLE DB Error Trace [OLE/DB Provider 'SQLOLEDB' lTransactionJoin::JoinTransaction returned 0x8004d00a]
I'm completely stumped as to why I can't create a dataset from a view that references a linked SQL server. It's not this specific view either, all views that reference this linked server bomb out.
Currently I have DataGridView box, clicking generate button fills it with a query from the database.I want the add button to add another row filled using the same query, so far I cannot get it to do it.Current generate button code:
Me.TableAdapter.FillBy1(Me.DataSet.App)
Add button code:
Me.DataSet.App.Rows.Add() - this does add a new empty row
I tried sticking the generate code inside (between add brackets) it but that just did the same thing as the generate code.
How can I specify which adaptor to begin listening on?
I have an application running on a PC which happens to have 2 network adaptors running on different subnets (one network for Business LAN infrastructure, one for TCP cameras)
I have a class which opens up a TCP server and listens on a specific port for connections coming in from clients on the LAN.
The problem is that my TCP server class initialises and begins listening on the adaptor which is connected to the cameras. Any connection request coming in from the Business LAN fails, it is not dealt with.
The question is, How can I specify which adaptor to begin listening on?
Code excerpt below (this is not the full class, just key methods)
Public Sub New(ByVal Name As String) 'get config _bootStrap = New TCPServerBootstrap(Name)
I have created a windows form that has a datagridview linked to a DB from a DataSet. i have draged the fields from the Data Sources navigation window to various controls on my form. all works well. then i tried building my program. my first ever build. i don't know what is wrong or what i have to do. when i try to run my exe, i have the following message. can someone help me fix this?
I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around data access in VB2010. I have properly set up a datagridview, table adapter etc... I have only 3 columns showing (out of 7 that are stored) in my datagridview (dgv for the sake of less typing).i don't show the ID column which is the unique index. It's hidden.what I want to do is have a button on each row (already done that) that, when clicked, deletes the row from the dgv AND the database. I have been able to get it to remove the row from the DGV, but not the underlying database. My background is in VB6 so i'm sort of flailing around in the dark here. I tried using [code]
I have a datagridview bound to a datatable setting its datasource property to the datatable. I would like to have a child form that contains a list of columns associated with the datatable that contains a checkbox that will allow the user to hide and show the columns ( I do not know the best control to use here) (I assume this is the easy part as All i need to do is loop through each of the datatable's columns to get the column name)
now I would like save these visible columns on some event like form_closing so that the next time the user opens the form up it will remember the settings
i have problem when i generate my program the program takes time till in my datagridview from table adapter in which i already create in a dataset any way how to make the program fill the records faster and decrease the loading time when fill in the datagridview? [code]
I have xml file and try to load into datagridview, how can I save the xml after I sort it by desc? But when I select the row after I sort, the selected row data show in textbox is different from datagridview
DS.ReadXml(Application.StartupPath & "\user.xml") Dim DS As New DataSet If DS.Tables(0).Rows.Count = 0 Then
I have a datagridview on a form that is docked in the form. When the form loads the DGV is all selected until I click a cell or row or column. Is there a way to turn it off.?
I am using VB 2010, .NET Framework 4.0 and am currently loading an unbound datagridview control from an object. Once I've added all the rows, I want to automatically resort the rows based on the values in the first column, which is a textbox column.
If I click on the column header, the sort works. However, I want the sort to automatically take place once the grid is loaded without clicking the column heading to sort. This would also apply if I add a new row to the grid - I want the grid to resort automatically after the row is added, to display the row in the right spot without clicking the column heading.
I have a database that dynamically loads from Access into a datagridview. I have to enter data manually into one column in this datagridview. I need to be able to perform calculations to this data, for example I need to sum the data in this column, sqaure it and substract it from individual sqaures of the data in the cells. I should be able to sum it sum(22,33,44,53,67,23)^2-sum(22^2,33^2,...23^2). The number of columns keep changing depending on the database I choose to load, so I need to code this dynamically too. I am not really a VB person. I did the same in excel using Visual Basic and I am trying to do it in this Visual Basic environment.I built a tool in excel(VBA) that do some statistical calculations and data analysis and I am trying to build the same in Visual Basic.
Having problems with null dates in a mysql table. Have eventually found out that I can store a 'null' date in mysql as "0000-00-00" and I can run the 'insert' command to add a record to the mysql table. When I check on mysql workbench I can see the row has been inserted correctly and the date shows as "0000-00-00".However...When I try to load the table into a datagridview, I get an error = mysql Conversion Exception was unhandled = "Unable to convert MySQL date/time value to System.DateTime".
At the moment I have a DataGridView (bindet to a DataTable) and some labels. If DataGridView's event SelectionChanged occurs, the labels should be filled with the information of the selected row -> No problems. But if I sort the DataGridView and click on a row, the informations in the labels are wrong.
Event:
Private Sub DGVMain_SelectionChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles DGVMain.SelectionChanged If DGVMain.SelectedRows.Count > 0 AndAlso Not Me.DGVMain Is Nothing Then[code].....
My application must display some data in Datagridview (status of COM ports communication) and i Used .mdb databases before for faster search and Datagridview update. How i understand Datagridview is importing data from DataTable and data in DataTable is imported from .mdb file, so i decided to make shortcut - stop to using .mdb file (data must be erased every time application start and it is useless make .mdb file and erase it every time, becouse it is increasing even when drop is used) and using only DataTable..
I want to row in Datagridview change it color to red when it's Collumn(6).text countains %error% string..
When Error in COM port is starting, i can fast find row in DataTable for that port and write information that Error accured for that port and DataGridview automatically updates:
Dim RRow as () DataRow RRow = ds.Select("Port = 'COM3') RRow(0).Item(6) = "Error Opening COM3"
I have two rich text boxes, and two buttons on my screen. The first button grabs HTML from a URL and then converts the HTML to XML which resides in rich text box 1.
The second button is to grab the XML from the rich text box1 and then parse it to grab all the input elements by their ID.
My issue is that my parser isn't doing anything. My guess is that I'm not quite getting the XML from the first rich text box.
What would be the best way to grab the XML from a rich text box load it into memory and then parse the XML to grab all the ID tags?

I have been having trouble finding a good way to do this. Basically what I need to do is take a query from a SQL Server Database and place it into a DataTable (or an array) for manipulation. I've got the connection and everything working, but none of the methods I've tried so far seem to work very well.I need it to compare data with an uploaded CSV file and post on a website.
I have a SQLClient.DataSet in VB.NET, and I want to insert the entire thing into a SQL Server table without having to do the following:
[Code]...
Since I've got close to a million rows (all pretty skinny, so it's not much space), I obviously don't want to run this loop and generate a million INSERT statements.
I know that one option is to use a linked server when I initially fetch the data, since it's coming from another SQL Server, and just have it to the INSERT from there. However, if I already have the data in my application, is there a more efficient way to bulk insert it? Can I somehow pass the DataTable as a parameter to SQL Server and have it sort it out and insert the rows?
I have three tables in SQL server which I would like to show and access on a form. Table 1 contains account data, address, contact details etc. Table two contains data attached to a Person, tel no , Mobile no, Email etc. Table three contains details on what awards the person holds, i.e. one person can hold several awards.
Therefore I have a one many relationship between the first two tables and a one many relationship between the second two tables. This is set up in SQL
The first two tables are shown on a form, table 1 via a set of text boxes, table 2 via a datagrid control.
I would like the functionality whereby I could select a row in the datagrid showing the persons name and find the Persons_ID number then use that as a filter to a second datagrid view so that only the selected persons awards show in the datagrid.
I'm trying to create a Server/Client Sync scenario for my application using Sync Services for ADO.NET specifically the LocalCache custom tool which sets the whole thing up for me.My server DB has 5 Tables, all of which are being synchronized to the client application, which now has a SQL Server Compact DB with the same schema as the server DB. I have a dataset with some custom queries that I use to connect my app with the local database. So far so good. However in my application when I try to fill one of my tables with the table adapter on my form (the default "fill" method) it gives me the following exception:No mapping exists from DbType Object to a known SqlDbType.
However, if I continue and do the fill again, IT WORKS without a problem. Try Me.WTSUsersTableAdapter.Fill(Me.WTSMainDataSet.WTSUsers)
I need to get a text file into a blank datatable that already exists. The table has its column names already so I need to insert the data into the fields. The text file is set up as so for example:
I wrote a procedure that builds a DataTable in memory using data stored on our DB2 database. The function builds a Multi-Level Bill of Materials (BoM), meaning that the data cannot simply be queried. The function works great and returns a nicely arranged DataTable object. However, I then need to query the in-memory DataTable against other tables on our server. What would be the best way to approach this problem? Should I make a DataTableAdapter for the Server tables and then build a DataView? I don't have too much experience yet with Data objects. (By the way, I looked into LINQ to DB2 and even installed IBM's addin's, but our server doesn't seem to support it at this time.)
I have populated a datatable from a SQL stored procedure and need to do further filtering on the datatable. The datatable holds data that is returned from the SQL DB as varbinary and is stored in the datatable as a byte array. I am attempting to pass TheData!Hash which is also a byte array.
When I need to filter the datatable I have use the following:
Dim sQuery0 As String = "Hash=" & TheData!Hash Dim ResultRows As DataRow() = dt.Select(sQuery0)
I understand that the TheData!Hash is a byte array and cannot be converted to a string in this way but how on earth do I pass the byte array in the Select filter expression?
