There are two panels in my parent form. In the right panel there is one list view. The problem is that whenever I load the child form, the child form goes back of the list view. I want to load the child form at top of the list view. I tried to set the property of list view

The panels contain some buttons on the click of which i want to display some forms. But I want thoes forms to act like children of the user control i.e. like MDi Parent - Child (here parent being User control and child being the new forms which would be opening). I'm trying to do this with a gridview control. I'm not sure that's what I should be using. But what I'm having trouble with, is getting the gridview to only list items with a unique USERID. And then using that unique USERID to list each item individually below.
Is there any kind of "automated" way of pulling this off using standard .net controls without going in and manually piecing it all together from the codebehind?
I try to create a MDI child form that should be resizable but it should not have a title bar visible. Is it possible? Or is there a better method to display child windows within a main form than displaying other forms. In this case the panel would be visually better than the form but the panel cannot be set to act as a child like a form.

XP it doesn't look very nice. I found some similar threads on the internet but no answers. Does anyone know how to display maximized windows in MDI properly? I'm creating an application that uses an MDI container to create a sort of desktop style for my form with a group of icons docked to the left hand side. The rest of the form is the desktop area that I want all windows to open in.If I use the standard File-New option that is provided by VB as a default for the MDI container this works fine and a child window is loaded.If I use similar code from one of the icons this also works fine.y problem is that one of my child forms is a search panel and when I double click on one of the results I want a window to open, but as an MDI child. However, this doesnt happen. When I open the window it opens as a completely separate window and isn't docked within the MDI parent. It also appears on the task bar as a separate application.

Scenario I have an MDI form with a UserControl docked at the top. The UserControl is for navigation and is ~50 pixels in height. You have to manually start NotePad prior to execution (I work on that later) but the code does workŠ My problem is now I want to manipulate the properties of notepad i.e. focus, size, location, etc. but I cannot figure out how to reference notepad and its properties.

but when the form opens it flickers a lot. so i want move the new form behind the main form while it loads so the user does not see the flicker. once it is done loading i will set the form to topmost. how do i move the new form behind the main form?

As Autodesk is going to discontinue VBA for their Inventor product in the near future I have been looking at other ways to run VB.NET in Inventor. To date it doesn't look like VSTA will be the replacement. Automation from an External VB.NET app is certainly possible, but leaves something to be desired for speed and integration. Compiled Add Ins are the Cadillac of choice but can be a royal pain to debug and develop. Autodesk now provides a lightweight VB.NET script interface called iLogic. It's main purpose is to allow extreme customization of Solid Modeling parts. The code actually resides inside the Part Model file.

I have a VB. Net App where I want the user to open a modeless form which contains reference information about items in a select box. If the user double clicks the item selected in the list box a modal form is opened to edit the item.I want the previously opened reference form to remain active/enabled, that is, I want the user to be able to click on it, move it, etc.I was able to get the form to at least show up on the task bar by setting it's "ShowInTaskBar" property to true, however, when it comes to the front the user can still not move it to the side to view all of the Edit Forms information.

View 7 RepliesIt has to be a simple line of code but I do not know how to construct it. Using VB 2010 Express, I have a MDI parent form and many child forms. I want the parent form to determine what child form is active and load data into the RichTextBox1 on the child form. Each Child form has a RichTextBox1. The parent form gets its data by loading a file.
I am close to a solution but just can't get there. You will see in the code below, if I make a direct reference to a specific child form, it works great. What I want to do is to use the Active Form function to determine which form to write to. I have looked at the MS tutorial which gets me close.

View 7 RepliesI have a program I've been working on for some time now and I'd like to try to streamline it somewhat. I have a main menu form that has a split panel, in the left panel is a treeview that displays forms you can open and when one is selected, it opens in a child window in the right panel. Each time I open form I called DWNForm, it does a series of dataset loads which are the populating items for a series of listviews.
What I would like to do is have these datasets load once during the mainMenu load and then have the DWNForm be able to access the datasets once it is called from the treeview selection.
I have two forms. Form A and Form B. Form A has a datagrid that is populated from a SQL Database Table query. When a button is pressed Form B is launched that allows you to add a record to the database table. I need for the datagrid to be refreshed and show the newly added record when I close form B and go back to the parent.

I want to create an IMAGELIST in a main form and add to it then have it accessible within a child form. I found several MS examples on database shared access but this is NOT the concept I am after. Straight forward:
Child_Form.<function_to_execute_in_child_form>(The_Passed_Imagelist)
So, within the child form it want to do whatever I like to the IMAGELIST! I have tried passing the object by reference and anything I could think of.
When I open my child form,

It opens up the new form, but now I can not interact with my main form. It will not accept focus or allow me to interact with it.
Do I need to change the form type?
The problem is that icon on the Child Form appear in front of Menu strip control on MDI form when child form is maximised.
