Writing Data From Array In One Class To A Listbox In Another Class

Jul 26, 2011

I'm designing a small GUI Windows program that allow staff at a cinema to reserve seats for customers. There will be a total of 60 seats in the cinema. I have two classes in my program:-

1.) MainForm.vb - used for I/O actions and user interaction

2.) SeatManager.vb - used to hold and handle the background methods and functions that make the program work

Here is the code for my MainForm.vb class thusfar:-

Public Class MainForm
Private Const m_totalNumberOfSeats As Integer = 60
Private m_seatManager As SeatManager

[Code]....

Basically, when the program opens, the lstReservations list in the MainForm class will be populated with a total of 60 (m_totalNumberOfSeats) entries to represent 60 seats. Each of these seats will contain the index number from the array m_nameList; this index number (+1) will represent the seat number and then in the lstReservations list, after the seat number, I'd like it to contain the respective entry from the m_nameList array. As all entries will be held in RAM, when the GUI is opened, all m_nameList array entries will be empty. As the user uses the program, they can highlight a row in the lstReservations list and then use the GUI textboxes to enter the customer's name which will then be populated into the respective array entry.

how to, when the GUI opens, ensure that the lstReservations list takes all of the blank entries from the m_nameList array and from there, I can highlight a row to carry out further methods on?

Can't Access Class From Code-behind. Class Is App_Code Folder?

Feb 15, 2011

I have a very simple class that is located within my App_Code folder in my VS2008 web application project. I am trying to instantiate an instance of this class from my code-behind file. Intellisense does not seem to be seeing my class and I am not sure why. I am using VB.NET which I am admittedly not that familiar with as compared to C#. Perhaps I am missing something. I would bet it has something to do with something I am missing in VB.NET.Here is my simple class (for testing):

Restricted Textbox Code (Specifically, Building A Class Library With Code)?

I recently found this code (provided for third party use on another VB site), however,ll of my attempts to insert it into a class library have failed.I open a new class library and past the code in, and immediately get several errors pertaining to how certain objects can't be found. I find it it is crucial to use this code, unless someone can suggest to me another example of existing code that will do the same thing: make a restricted textbox who imputs can be restricted, that can handle pasting, shortcuts, text property setting, and script-entered text.

Add Each Href To A ListBox If It Has A Specific Class?

Jun 24, 2010

Ive just started vb.net programming, and Im trying to make an application to collect twitter usernames and addresses - this is how all the links look:

<a target="_blank" href="http:twitter.com/USERNAME" class="twtr-user">USERNAME</a>

So in the tag of <a>, for each element, there is a class called "twtr-user" So basically, is there a way to go through the webpage and add each username and address to a listbox? This is what Ive come up with so far:

For Each temp As HtmlElement In wb.document.Links
Dim str As String
str = temp.GetAttribute("class")

[code]....

The problem is that (1) this doesnt work at all (2) Is there a way to add the href address and also the outer text?

VS 2008 Class And Read A Line From A File And Add It Into A Listbox

Sep 12, 2009

I am trying to read a line from a file and add it into a listbox. The SelectedIndexChanged event of the listbox places the selected item (hence, the item I added from the file) into a variable that is declared as a Store (my own personal class.) I can easily add the line from the file into the listbox, but I run into a problem with the SelectedIndexChanged event. When I click on the item in the listbox, I get an error that says "Unable to cast object of type 'System.String' to type 'WindowsApplication1.Store'." (I guess this is because I added an item to the listbox that is from a file.) I tried a variety of methods of casting, but nothing seems to work. What can I do to fix this?

Asp.net - Add Class To GAC, And Use It In Code-Behind?

Sep 15, 2009

I created a VB.NET Class, and created a strong key, and added it to the GAC using the GacUtil. That part has gone smoothly. The Assembly is installed in the GAC and seems to be installed/configured correctly.FYI, the assembly is a Class called Tester, that exposes one public static method called HelloWorld, which returns a string, "Hello World".The next step was to create a test web application (VB.NET and ASP.NET 2.0), using Visual Studio 2005, Windows XP SP3. I created the test web application and added the following to the web.config file's configuration section.

<assemblies>
<add assembly="BenGACTest, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=3e5b6cecb56999ca" />
</assemblies>

I then added some inline code to my aspx page as follows:

<div><%=BenGACTest.Tester.HelloWorld()%></div>

When I run the page in the web browser, indeed everything works as expected. The page outputs "Hello World" and all seems goodHowever, I don't know how to use this code in the code-behind page.I try to import the assembly, just like "imports system" and it doesn't appear in the IntelliSense.Also, when I try to add the assembly as a reference to the project, the assembly is not found in the list of installed assemblies. I believe this is because the list is pulled from the registry, not from a dynamic list of installed assemblies.My goal is to add the assembly via the web.config file, not by adding it as a project reference, and to use the assembly in the code-behind page.
