I basically want to do what you can do for controls like the textbox where adding a new textbox automatically autonumbers itself based on the existing textboxes(e.g. textbox1,textbox2, textbox3) except for an array or some other comparable instrument.

I need to test if each key is being pressed in a specific order. At the moment, I'm just doing a test between 'Escape' and 'F12.'
All works well, until I get to F11. If I enable F11 by itself, it works fine. But if I run it in sequential order, it never fires.
Each button, with the exception of one, is disabled by default. So I have a separate method that checks, when that key is pressed, if the button is enabled and if it is, it disables it and the enables the next button.

This is part of the last coding that codeorder helped me with. I didn't include this in the last post because I thought this was something that I was going to be able to do. Unfortunately, it is not working properly. In addition to the controls being removed, the control rows after the removed row should be changed so it's still in sequential order. i am coding an application where I want to populate an array with the contents of a sequential file that is already populated as salary.txt in the debug folder. Basically, I want to copy the contents of that file to an array so that I may use a code to go with the intSubscript of the array. Right now it functions as just an array for this purpose, but I want to populate the array with the sequential file first. All attempts to do this, with stream writer etc and readline, I am just getting the first item in the file. I have tried to loop it and still only the first is accessable. Driving me batty, turning to the masses for guidence.[code]

I have initialized the array and done the sequential search, but apparently even the wrong input is coming out to be valid.

I am getting data from an SQL Server database and displaying the data on a Windows form.How do I navigate through the data in a Sequential Order or Sort Order using the the REP_ID number? Example: When I use the navigation to move from one data to the other, can I go from; example: 100001 to 100002 and so on?

I have an ACE OleDb connection to an accdb file that�s working well but I�m mystified by something I recently discovered when using named parameters. Order of adding of parameters overrides the parameter names. I see in the MSDN that is states when in "Text" mode named parameters is not supported. My testing has proven this to be the case. The example below puts "Value 2 in Field1 and "Value 1" in Field2. In fact I could change @value2 to @blahblah and it works.

what is text mode and how do I change it and what other types are there? According to John McIlhinney�s earlier explanation things like date variables are added in a binary fashion including support for DBNull. So this is not "Text" so how am I sending binary data to a Db in Text mode? I�m just not getting why it supports names when it ignores them. Is it simply the case that there is no way to add parameters out of order in my case?If adding out of order is impossible should my command use some other syntax? I see other syntax that just uses question marks in the command dim for the Values section. EG "Values(?,?)".
Is there a way of adding parameters without names?In general I�d love to hear someone to explain this so I can understand the inner workings here a little better and have a little more confidence in what I�m doing here. I can fix my code to work but I feel like an idiot using parameter names that are ignored. I just know I�m doing something wrong even if it works.
I have a ticketing application and I want to create a date based, sequential, ticket number.I'm leaning toward something based on Posix time as this generates a sufficiently large number and the likelihood of any two ticket numbers overlapping is slim to none (two people would have to just happen to hit the button at exactly the same time on two perfectly synchronized systems).Has anyone done anything like this or have any code snippets/ suggestions? The idea is that the user can select as many audio files as he likes from a ListView, and a PropertyGrid will then display their tags + their values.When multiple files are selected, I want the property grid to display the values of the tags that all files have in common, and display empty values for tags that the files do not have in common.As an example, look at the properties list in your Visual Studio IDE when you select multiple controls (of the same type for this matter). Select a few Button controls, for example, and notice that the properties whose values are the same (often things like Font, ForeColor, etc) are displayed. Also notice that the values for properties that are not the same (Text, Name, etc) are empty.

I need to remove an instance in a class for which I also created a dictionary with a string key type. Like this...:

As you see, I end having 120 instances of the class Person, each assigned with a string key consisting in "student1" to "student120".
At other parts of the program I repeatedly refer to PersonsList("student" & n) to set values at those class entries, mainly with a For n ... Next block.
Now... I need a routine to remove one of those instances for good, including its entry at the dictionary, so my first bet is this...:

I assume this is good enough to remove the KVP at the dictionary AND the class instance proper... right?Well, even if that is ok, I foresee one problem... Let's say I removed "student46". Next time I run a For n = 1 to students_count I would bet that I'll receive an exception due to having a gap at "student46" KVP... and that without saying that students_count will be 119, so it will never reach "student120".In short, I need a way to reassign the KVP of the now 119 Person entries, so they're consecutive again (I don't care about them changing their string key values), so I still could use my For n = 1 to students_count ... Next blocks without problems... but I cannot figure out how.

I am using an ACCESS DataBase to populate the array.
Using the For Next Loop I can access any position within the array such as a individual cell or group of cells. Also using the Step Keyword of the For next loop I can select a group of cells to manipulate based on the Step factor. This worked well for me in VB 6. I am now migrating to vb 2010 and cannot fine documentation as to how this would be done on zero based arrays in Vb 2010.
In VB 2010 I see no reference to the Step Keyword nor examples of how it would be used with zero based Arrays.

I have a VB.NET application and use some third party (closed source) ActiveX controls. One of the controls represents a "camera" (connected over several interfaces) and I try to write an example how to work with several cameras in one application. To do this I allocate multiple "camera" objects dynamically as an array which works as expected like this:

But the camera objects needs to be allocated with WithEvents because they raise events when a new image was taken. I found out that WithEvents variables cannot be typed as arrays and this is a pretty common problem so I also found some workarounds: [URL]. This is already pretty good and I adopted this to my concept. So I have a MyCameras array and a MyCamera all "without Events", first allocate a new MyCamera object, add a event handler and then put it into the array.
Unfortunately I get an error when calling

I use Visual Studio 2010 and SQL Server 2008 R2. I have created an Entity Model in a class library which I have referenced in a VB Winforms project. I created a data source in the project based on the entity model in the dll. However, all columns in the data source are listed in alphabetical order instead of the native order from the SQL Server database. I cannot locate the cause of this as much as I try.
This might not seem a huge problem, but it is costing me valuable time in rearranging controls dragged to forms and reindexing their tabstop indexes.
I get the following string expression provided:"ChildObject.FullName" ...where ChildObject is an instance property on the MyObject1 type.ChildObject has a property named "FullName" and I want to sort a collection of type "MyObject1" based on this child properties "FullName" value.
I can do this all day long on properties directly on MyObject1 but I run into 2 challanges when doing it on a child instance and I can't get all the pieces working. The main 2 challanges are:
MyObject1 has a few different child property types so I can't hardcode the type for ChildObject. The string could be of any type.The sort expression is a String and not a known type.Above the value returned from the last line in the expression (if I run the code outsode the OrderBy method, does provide me the 'FullName' information I need. So the code must be close, but it still does not work.
Any ideas on how I can accomplish this? What I am trying to prevent is hardcoding a series of 'If' blocks on the child's type to then hardcode in its type to the sort or OrderBy method.
