Simple thing: How can I check if the user has selected more than one Item in a ListBox? I tried it like this:
If listbox.SelectedItems(1) Then ...
But it returned an out of range exception...
In .NET there doesn't seem to be a property to find the item just selected in a multi-select listbox; SelectedIndex always shows the first selected item. From memory VB6 had the ListIndex property that changed accordingly... Why remove a useful property ?

The end user can select any number of workstations in this listbox, then store those selections to a SQL table (this part is working fine). Problem: I got the bundles listbox to populate w/ autopostback set to true but the bundles listbox populates as soon as you click on an lbcarrier and it doesn't allow you select more than one carrier.how to allow multiselect with the postback feature on? Here's a screenshot of the interface:

Here is the basic problem. When a listview is set to multiselect = true, the electedIndexChanged event fires for every row. This is very bad in a situation like the following psuedo code:
MultiSelect in listView (many items)
Clear any items that are selected in GridView
find that item in gridView using a brute force compare

View 1 RepliesI have a ListBox populated with records and an insert button that activates an InputBox which prompts for the record name. What I would like is instead of an OK or Cancel button, I'd like a Insert Above, Insert Below, or Cancel button. My current workaround is using a second InputBox so after receiving the record name, this box asks to place it above or below. It would be much easier for the user having a single InputBox that takes the record number and having the three options, above, below or cancel.

View 18 Repliesi have a vb script that is imbeded in an html page (hta). when i use the common dialog flags = cdlOFNAllowMultiselect the file list is present in the filename object and are separated by a space. however when i use dialog flags = cdlOFNAllowMultiselect Or cdlOFNExplorer the files that i selected on the dialog box, are not present in the filename object. the only thing that's there, is the path to the files. here's the code:

What I want is if the user encode 50 in qty and 2 in scraf factor, actuall qty will automatically computed based on qty multiply by 2. I was using keyup event. Now I am using endedit to get the current value of the current row and column, now the problem is if the amount to be encoded is more than one digit it will not accept because of endedit. If I set a ListBox.Height = ListBox.PreferredHeight when the control is hidden and IntegralHeight = True, then set it visible:
a) Actual Height reduces by typically 3-5 pixels after redraw (but not 1 pixel per item).
b) PreferredHeight does not not appear to give the correct integral of item heights.
Is there a way to make ListBox calculate the correct integral Height before the ListBox is made visible, so it can be correctly pre-positioned from bottom edge?

View 5 RepliesI am using VB.NET (version 2008). I have two types of items populating in a listbox (checked listbox). For example: lets say one is type "A" and other is "Type B". Their names maybe same so if the user sees those items in listbox then he won;t be able to determine their type until he click on them and checks out its properties. I wanted that I add each item to listbox and colour them so that blue for example means type "A" is there and red means the other. So this way I will be able to know at a glance that how many item of what type is present. I guess it may not be possible to do that in a standard checkedlistbox. I am also using component factory's krypton controls which enhance the gui of an application. But I dunno if I can progress using that.
View 5 RepliesThe scrollbar that comes with the ListBox is too small for touch screens, so I use my own scrollbar instead. But when you do this on various forms you end up repeating a lot of code. So my solution was to create a custom scollbar that has a property I can set to the control I want it to be a scrollbar for. In vb6, I can use the withevents keyword to get access to the control's events so that all the scrollbar related code can be in the custom scrollbar object I created, except...I had to create a refresh method for the consuming code to use to let the scrollbar know when the number of items changes. The scrollbar doesn't need to be told how many items there are because it has access to the control, but for a listbox there is no event to tie into when an item is added/removed so not 100% of the scrollbar related code could be encapsulated.

I am using Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition and I am trying to set a listbox so it starts to scroll when it hits the middle point of what is viewable on my list. I also want to set it so the list is always visible so you when you reach the bottom of the list you can scroll down to the bottom but if you scroll back up once it reaches that middle point it will start to scroll up again.
