way to get the image hash of an online image using visual basic 2010 express?
For example this image: [URL]
I saved an images hash number to a database so that when my application pulls in images, I can compare this hash number to the hash numbers of the images comming in. The purpose is that if one of the images comming in has the same hash number, I can flag it. It seems that the saved hash number for an image is not the same for the exactly the same image when it has come in. Is this because the hash number for an image can change depending on the pc where its being created?

View 1 RepliesIn my Database application same of the operations can cause a bit of a delay, especially the ones that invoke more than one query on the DB.... In Windows (or was it in Java?) I have encountered this progress bar that doesn't gradually fill in but rather just shows this block of bars that moves from left to right in a loop...basically not showing exact info regarding the progress but simply showing that something is happening....Anybody knows what I'm talking about? And if so, if there is a way to implement this in VB? Kind of in a way that it appears when the function is called and starts looping until the function reaches its last lines and then disappears?

Me.Cursor = New Cursor("Patch..")
The problem say:: "{"Image format is not valid. Image file may be corrupted.
Parameter name: stream "}"
edit: I realized what the problem ... It can read only cur files with 24-bit color and lower - but it shows only two colors: black and white.
I have an app that loads a jpg into a picyure box, then updates exif data in exifworks classThe problem is that when I save the image(from image used for picture box) or class (to save exif data) then try to delete, sometimes I get success, others it won't allow delet I have gone to the trouble of using gc.collect, do events, put the delete in a timer & wait for the delete before continuing & still get the problem

In VB6 you could BITBLT things around before refreshing the screen. In .NET, I'm aware of DrawImage, but that can only be done on a paint event rather than before anything gets painted. The issue I have is, I need to open several files with image data in them and then build a bigger image with those smaller images. Before I could open them, BITBLT them to a Buffer. As far as I can tell .NET offers no way to do this as the only function I've been able to find (DrawImage) only works within the paint event. Is there still a way to do this in VS08 or no?

View 1 RepliesI am "weeks new" to visual basic 2008 but I was hoping that someone might tell me how I can open an image in whatever type of "visible" graphics window (always positioned at: x=0 y=0); move to some "definable position" of interest x=(n) y=(n); change the brightness of that "individual pixel" by some "definable means of measure" from its original state; and save the new image as a separate image file?

I have a Picturebox and a two Buttons on my Form. On click of one of the buttons I want to change the image in the picture box at runtime.
This works fine when I give the location of the image (the full path ) on my computer - but then of course it will not work if I use the solution on a different computer .
So I have made a folder named "Pics" inside my application and added two images into it.
How do I get to this local folder in the following code?
Picturebox1.image = system.drawing.image.fromfile (??? )
instead of the usual,
Picturebox1.image = system.drawing.image.fromfile ("C:UsersMyName My PicturesMyPicture.jpg" )

View 2 RepliesI can't remember exactly if this is possible or not but what I am attempting I would think should theoretically be possible. I know it is possible in WPF but the company I am working for doesn't want to make the transition just yet. Basically what I want is to use a background image on a form for the background and I have a docked control on the right and left. I have set the background on both of these docked controls to transparent however it is showing the back color rather than the background image. I tried, rather than setting the background image property, to override the onpaintbackground and onpaint events and use e.graphics.draw(picture, me.clientrectangle) but it still seems to just pick up the backcolor as the true transparent background so I'm wondering if it's possible to get it to show the background image through the control rather than the backcolor of the form?
View 3 RepliesI hoping to find a current and simple way to do this. I'm using VWD Express 2008 and SQL Express 2008.I'm able to get the client's path to the image file using an asp:FileUpload control on the web form.
How do I upload the client's image file and display it in the web form's image control?How do I save it to the sqlserver? The image table is already set up with a "Image" data type column. Can the image be saved to the database as simply as other data types?
I've got an app where the user uploads an image and the app resizes the image three different ways based on different variables. They all use the same image. I can't check to see if it's done using the image so I wondered if there was a way to check to see if the file is writable. A small loop that exits once it becomes writable (or "deleteable"). Working out of VB.NET.

I would like to know how to have any empty field display a default image.
