I'm trying to create this select command against Access Database----Keeps giving me error saying operator is missing I just can't seem to figure it out
I am once more having throuble linking my visual basic code to the acompanying database. this current error is when I'm trying to add a new record to the database, using an OleDb dataAdapter: Whenever I run it, I get the error "Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement."
I've been using SQL OleDB commands to grab data from some excel files and it's working well, but I'm having a really hard time finding a good resource for the actual command strings on the web. I figure I must not be using the proper terminology in my searches. Take this line:
Dim da as New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter("Select * From [" & sheetName & "]", Conn)
My question this morning was: Can I pass a command that will grab all sheets from the excel document instead of just one in particular?
I am trying to save data to my table but i am getting a error message. Here is the code. It tells me a parameter is missing. The amount of fields in the table is the same as the fields i am inserting into.
''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' '' Now the ingredient table ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Try
I am using a Command Builder for OLEDB, I populate the Data table from the database, and then I use data adapter's Update method to add or update the database successfully.
I am using an INSERT INTO ... VALUES statement in the following matter to insert data into a new row of a database:
[Code]...
How can I substitute variables for the explicit values of X and Y in this statement (for example, variables XName, XAddress supplied by user input via text box)?
I seem to be having a problem when attempting to insert a new record into my database through vb.net. From what I can gather, there seems to be an error in the code that the command builder (cBuilder) is creating for me. [code]...
I am trying to import a tab delimited file with ADO. If I convert my tabs to csv it works, but I would like to know why it does not work with tab.The Function is on the buttomhere is my test data:
Test1: - Create a Text file with Headers: Test1, Test2, Test3 and rows:
I have a problem with Oledb connection when I am trying to open an Excel spreadsheet:
[code]...
This piece of code works well on one computer, but on another the IMEX=1 doesn't seem to work, and the Jet seems to read the first few rows of the Excel spreadsheet that are numeric and decides that the whole spreadsheet is numeric, so it ignores some String values later in the sheet.
I'm using the following code to work out the next unique Order Number in an access database. ServerDB is a "System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection"
Dim command As New OleDb.OleDbCommand("", serverDB) command.CommandText = "SELECT max (ORDERNO) FROM WORKORDR" iOrder = command.ExecuteScalar() NewOrderNo = (iOrder + 1)
If I subsequently create a WORKORDR (using a different DB connection), the code will not pick up the new "next order number."e.g.
will return the same value to both iFoo and iFoo2. If I Close and then reopen serverDB, as part of the "NewOrderNo" function, then it works. iFoo and iFoo2 will be correct. Is there any way to force a "System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection" to refresh the database in this situation without closing and reopening the connection. e.g. Is there anything equivalent to serverdb.refresh or serverdb.FlushCache
How I create the order.I wondered if this could be caused by not updating my transactions after creating the order. I'm using an XSD for the order creation, and the code I use to create the record is ...
Sub CreateNewWorkOrderWithNumber(ByVal iNewOrder As Integer) Dim OrderDS As New CNC Dim OrderAdapter As New CNCTableAdapters.WORKORDRTableAdapter
In my .NET application I have to get results from a MS Access database. I would like to add error checking to make sure a row was returned from my SELECT statement.
so i have OLEDB working "Select Where [text-in-top-of-column] = "BOB"...But i need it to work like:"Select Where [column:A$] = "BOB"...(not sure of what sysntext I would use for spesfying the column)I wont allways know what the first row of text is in colom "A".. so i need to just use "A" This is what i have now...
Quote:
Collname = "Some long text name" MyConnection = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection _ ("provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source='c: estfilex.xls'; Extended Properties=Excel 8.0;")
[code]....
I have tryed adding HDR=No and it does not work... how to use the colom by their default names...?

I'm using OLEDB to connect to an MSAccess database and would like to know which is the correct syntax to get a value from the database and store it into a variable. I'm using the following syntax but it is not working: getStock = "SELECT Stock INTO " & stkActual & " FROM PECAS WHERE PECA_ID = " & Val(Me.PECA_IDTextBox.Text)
i have visual studio ultimate 2010 and i was using visual basic and when i tried the messagebox.show command it does not work , am i missing any libraries that need to be installed or did they change this command , if i am missing some libraries , is there a patch or something that needs to be setup.
I have an application developed in VB.NET 3.5 2010 with MySQL as Database server.I need to generate a report type on on a form datagrid View.In the table i have fields as below
I Need to retrieve the data to a dataset in below format Reviewed_By are repeated in the table, so i need only 1 cell to be filled by the data and the other empty.I used the below SQL code which worked well at MySQL prompt
SET @PrvSupervisor=''; SELECT IF(@PrvSupervisor=Reviewed_By,'',@PrvSupervisor:=Reviewed_By) Reviewed_By,Stage,sum(Review_Status='Int_Approved') as Approved,sum(Review_Status='Retake') as Retake,COUNT(*) AS TotCount,GROUP_CONCAT(Shot_Num) as ShotsList FROM ShotTable WHERE DATE_FORMAT(Review_Date_Time,'%d/%m/%y') LIKE '10/05/12' AND (Review_Status='Retake' OR
[code]....
In the above result as the last 4 rows are from Person2, so only 1st record of that person is having data remaining 3 are empty.but when i used it from VB.NET i am getting below error.
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ':=Reviewed_By) Reviewed_By,Stage,sum(Review_Status='Int_Approved') as Approved,s' at line 1
Getting command parser to work. I've made a new topic for this, because the old one isn't getting much attention, but also, I wanted to refine my questions, so that they would be easier to work with..
Here's how I have this code set up in my project..
I have a function module with public functions like so..
Code:
in my public class GameWindow I have the sub for the first rooms look command..
Code:
Now everything is going to be fed through a button click. User imputs MyString, and presses button. Here's the button code.
Code:
This isn't generating any output.. not sure how to go about getting it working. ha, I'm learning though...slowly, but surely. I like the hands on approach of implementing things into my project, and working with them. I learn better that way, plus the project'll get completed eventually.
I have an MS access database that has fomrs with buttons to do certain tasks - a "console" or "toolkit". I am trying to run cmd.exe as the local administrator using this command....
If my domain account is added to the local administrators this works fine (it asks for a password - is there any way round this?)
If i visit another PC in the domain on which i am not a local administrator, it doesnt work and i don't know why In both scenarios i can manually browse to cmd.exe and right click and runas a differnt user without any problems. Also, is there a more efficient way of running this command?
[code]Myself and a coworker have stared at this quite a lot and we can't figure out why it's not working. The problem is in the value for @ID (since it still works when I leave the other one parameterized). The funny thing is, Just a few lines of code above it I have a different query that sets a parameterized value for the same ID, using the the same choices list that the For Each loop is getting the match variable from.Choices is a list of longs, and when I use choices(0) to parameterize ID in a query, it works. But now down here in this loop I have the new match long, and it doesn't want to make it work for me.
I have more than 100 controls (labels, textboxes, menu, Gridviews etc).I want onclick a button to turn all these controls to visible = true Now I need to code them one by one. Is there a code (in VB if possible) to make it applies to all in the control ?
On button Click I want to Set the Select command of a Gridview. I do this and then databind the grid but it doesn't work. What am i doing wrong? [code]
I have a question regarding a javascript command. What I am doing is on a asp.net page, a user clicks on a print button which I have another page open up and at the bottom of that page, I put in a simple script command, but I have noticed that my window.close doesn't always work. [Code]
I'm having trouble getting this Shell command to hide this script. I got this Shell command to work with other compiled VB script but blog_finder.exe was created by some other program. Any ideas on how to hide it or minimize it. All variations of AppWinStyle.xxx doesn't seem to work. [Code]
I need to filter a measurements table that consists of 63 measurement objects that may or may not be tested more then once. The entries are put in a Batch table on a SQL server in the following fashion:
ID: | Serie | Test object | Min Amps | Max Amps | OK? DateTime| String | Integer | Double | Double | Boolean
So there may be multiple entries in my database with the same series and testobject number but with (slightly) different results.
Currently I just select: SELECT * FROM Measurements WHERE Serie = 'XXXX' and use a datareader object to fill a datatable and then I let loose a routine on it that will either: Get the last result that produced a good measurement, so OK = 1 and max ID. Or the last result that produced a bad measurement if there are no good ones. I then end up with a list of 63 either good or bad measurement objects with the last good result, and if there isn't one then the last bad result.
Now I know that SQL is quite powerfull and I suppose that it must be possible to directly query for these results without a programatical routine re-filtering the results. I suppose it's like Selecting within a select statement..
