Getting Labels And Grid Headers From A Sql Server 2008 Database?
Jun 22, 2010
getting labels and grid headers from a sql server 2008 database -- other than creating a table with all the column names and headers/captions and translating them. SQL Server 2008 tables don't have a caption column property which would be useful ..

I have some combo boxes that basically set labels and scale multiplication factors for an XY grid. The combo boxes themselves work as they should. Two adjust scale levels of the XY grid (label and multiplication factors) the other changes the Y axis units (Imperial/Metric). The issue comes when I try to replot old data... I have the data in the array and have confirmed it is accurate...but...
When I apply the appropriate value to combobox.selectedindex and then call the Sub that actually makes the scale changes, the selected index reverts to -1. Small Example.... (note consider all variables as public and all routines in a single class - ignore spelling - this is a quick subset recreation not a copy).
Private Sub ReloadGraph()
combobox1.selectedindex = LengthScale(GraphNumber)
Call LengthLabels()
PlotUnits = Units(GraphNumber)
Call UnitsSet()
[Code] .....
OK - so I did add some code..... I did not actually run this code, but this is essentially a snapshot of what fails....when I step through line by line, the selectedindex changes to -1 as soon as I step to the second line of the second 2 Subs BEFORE it processes the second line (i.e. always after I step off Private Sub xxx() ). Again, both UnitSet and LengthLabels work OK separately when called, it is ONLY when I set the selectedindex from a variable (and again, it DOES set OK) and then call these routines that the selectedindex goes to -1. I have read a bunch of stuff relating to selectedindex and selectedvalue resetting IF one or the other is blank, but I have tried setting both in testing and this fails too!!

I have created a few months ago a simple tool in vb.net, that sends an xml code to server, and that server sends response after a while. Everything is performed in http session, for that purpose I use webbrowser control and webclient. I know it could have been solved in different way, however iam not an expert in vb.net, and also didnt want to spend too much time on it. Anyway it worked, until they had changed something on the server. Let me explain in a few words how that tool works, so it will be easier to understand the problem.
In the first part, I open an URL in the webbrowser control, subsequently I enter xml code in the textarea on that page and click on the submit button. In result of that I get another page with some data on it, namely links to xls files. In the next part I use webclient for downloading those files. What is important for all of these operations I need to use the same http session id.
So, simply by now, i just set headers in webclient - WebClient.Headers.Add("Cookie", WebBrowser1.Document.Cookie.ToString) What have guaranteed to use the same session id by the WebClient. However, after the change made on the server mentioned before, the JSESSIONID value is not available in that string. When I use https analyzer (fiddler), I can see that value there...until moment when I am using WebClient. Of course due to that fact, the webclient won't download files for me, because the session id is not the same.
There is one more thing, what would be useful. When I checked the cookies file on my harddrive, I saw that line starts like #HTTP_ONLY. I think that would cause that problem with jsessionid.
Now, I am coming to my question Do you have any idea, how I would get that JSESSIONID value ? It is sent from webbrowser control, however don't know how to get it.

I am working on a project that requires us to create a bracket type tournament and I am now stuck. I linked my access database to my project, and have 32 labels (lbl1-lbl32) and I cannot figure out how to integrate the labels to read from my database. It can be random or not, I just cannot get the labels to display the names of the fighters.
After the labels are integrated, the next coloum of the bracket has a link that opens a new window with each of the fighters match results, does the link have to include anything particular to display the attributes from the database?

I am working on a windows application using VB.net 2.0 and want to create a custom ComboboxControl which displays multiple groups. I was able to display the items in Custom combobox with headers. Below is the sample.
Header 1
Item 1_1
Item 1_2
[code]....
I want to prevent users from selecting the header items. I managed to revert back to the previously selected item if user selects the header item. Problem with this approach is drop down collapses and then reverts back to previously selected item. Is there a way to check, if the item being selected is a header item and if it is a header item, do not collapse the dropdown. Basically I want to implement behavior of HTML select list with optgroup.
1_1 1_2 1_3 2_1 2_2 2_3

I have taken an interest in creating a SMTP server in vb.net that has the ability to hide ip addresses in email headers.I see that some people claim that it's possible around on the internet, but I haven't seen any direct source code to create an anonymous smtp server in visual basic 2008.Now I know that it's legal to send emails via a masked ip address and I believe that it's also fair since some people believe in anonymity, but I am in all means against spammers.

I have developed a VB.NET program using a strongly typed dataset. This dataset has its connection to a SQL Server 2008 R2. The software should now be additionally used offline. The database should be exported to a *.sdf database. If no connection to the SQL server is produced, the software have to try to connect to the *.sdf database.I would like to achieve:
1. Export the data in the SQL Server 2008 R2 database to a local *.sdf file.
2. This *.sdf file has to work as an alternate connection string in the strongly typed dataset.

i'm using WebClient in VB.NET to make requests. I add the headers using WebClient.Headers.Add() in the order I want the headers sent. However when I packet sniff the requests it makes I can see that the headers are sent in totally the wrong order. Does anyone know if there's a way of setting the order the headers are sent?

I'm working on my very first VB 2008 Express program, having a little bit of experience with VB 6.For my first VB 2008 program, I'm starting out simple. I have two text boxes, named Title and Director.You input text into each text box.I also have a button named GENERATE, which generates a text file named c.est.txt and stores the text box material.[cod]I know how to do this with VB 6, but not with VB 2008, and my research hasn't come up with an explanation of how to format this correctly.So how do I revise this code so that there is a line for each text box string, how do I get rid of the System.Windows.Forms.TextBox stuff and replace it with my own headers, and how do I double-space between lines?

I would like to create a server program that accesses an "ms access" database. I will also need a client program that connects to the server. The reason for this is that the server is a mediator for several clients. Since I am using access, I plan on maybe having 20 or 30 clients connect to the server only. The client will have access to a virtual market. So when a person buys or sells something on the market, the server mediates the transaction and etc. At the same time, the access database saves each clients data as well as the overall market data.

First off, my apologies for being a complete Newb! I have a SQL Express database that I use quite successfully to track my investments in several accounts. I built it myself, it's quite functional, and Im happy with it. The problem is that there are multiple account tables and updating them can be tedious in SQL Server, if multiple purchases and sales in multiple accounts have occurred in a month. Tedium can lead to errors¦
