I need to create a vb.net program that consists of a unmovable, always on top bitmap, with no menu bar or anything, and does not show up in the task bar as program. It needs to always start in the same place.
Essentially I need to mask a part of the screen by using a bitmap that blends into the scenery.
I am not sure which properties I need to tweak to achieve all of this.
I have a few problems i need to solve. Firstly, I am looking for a piece of code i can use to display a picture from a bank of pictures. It will work on the basis of generating a random number and loading a picture that corresponds to that number.

Secondly, can I then use subsequent picture boxes to display pictures from the same bank of images, without displaying the same image? Finally, I then need to be able to click the picture or a button beneath the picture to select it as an answer to a question and then the whole process starts again.
I have some operations of Picture Boxes etc being performed. After the user finishes with the formatting, I want to give the user an option to print the work.But its the work is not done on the Rich Text Box but on picture boxes. I am not even sure, how many of the picture boxes would be there after the user finishes the job, since I have provided option for dynamically creating picture boxes as well.

View 3 RepliesI am building a jukebox and it consist of listboxes and text boxes. I have got it so that when the user doubleclicks on a song from the first listbox it moves into the next one. Problem is, when it gets there it should check if there is song waiting to play in the text box and if not move into the text box play position. also it has a timer function to run in between the tracks playing. I have tried deleting and re writing bits of my code but am getting a bit messed up with it now.

As I understood, the brick(I) array exists thanks to the naming of the bricks, which ranges from _brick_0 to _brick_217 (as nowhere in the project a brick array is declared implicitly, at least not that I could find). I'd like to do the same in my current project, but even when I duplicate an existing brick it automatically renames it to "PictureBox123" instead of _ExistingName_NextID.
I saw a method of declaring a picturebox array and adding the bricks one by one, but since I have so many pictures this would best be avoided (especially due to the fact that not all pictures are bricks, so I cant just loop through every picture in the form). In short, my question is: How do I duplicate pictureboxes so that they'd be serialized in a way vb.net would interpret as a picturebox array? As you can see, i'm a really newbie to vb.net and wf in general, just started studying wf a couple days ago for my B.Sc and even that was accomplished with c#.
I need my app. to Create an Control Array at runtime that will consist of up to 50 Data Bound Labels. The app. will first be checking the 1st database field (Ing1) to see if there is data, if so then only create the 1st Data Bound Label (lblIng1) and then check the next field and so on.
The problem is that VB 2008 dos not seem to support Control Arrays. There must be another way to work around this.

I'm a Visual Basic beginner. I want to replicate an existing Mac application that I have with Visual Studio 2010. As you see below, this application (Mac version)'s form has a folder picture at the center. That's a drop box onto which the user can drag and drop a folder, and the application will get its path and write it to a database when the user clicks on Add. Now, according to Microsoft's web site, the PictureBox control has a property called AllowDrop, which is what I need, except that I don't see it as you see below. If PictureBox doesn't have AllowDrop, then what will be my next best alternative to accept a file/folder while displaying a picture?

View 3 RepliesWe I am trying to make a "road" builder program for a class. The way I have been tackling this is by creating a forms application in using Visual Basic in VS 2008 where I have a combo box with 4 items in it: long road, short road, double lane, dead end. I also have a button that when pressed, loads the image associated with the item. Then I implemented a method that handles the click and drag function to place the image in the "world" panel where I am building my roads. I also added a rotate feature that flips the image about as I see fit.
Now, here is where my dilemma begins: I can only have one picture shown on screen at a time. This is because I don't know how to tell the program that once I let go of the image anywhere inside the panel, it becomes a part of the "world" and it
cannot be moved anymore. Then, when I click on the create button, it should allow me to generate a new image and so on and so forth.

The query will pull all the email address that are not null. What I need to know is how to take the result of that query and make it look like this:

View 6 RepliesI am trying to update a row or a single cell in ms access through vb.net. But when i update the text box named NRIC, say for example i want to update "s4522147B" to "tr4521856C" and mean while leaving the other fields the same.
But the thing is when i make the changes in nric.text (textbox), the dataset actually updates the whole column in the table instead of the selected textbox.

View 8 RepliesI have VS 2008 and use VB, not C#/C++ or whatever else. I'm trying to make a battleship game, and I've decided to use the only method I can think of to control the grid. A 2D boolean array for position marking. I have the array set up, and the grid set up in the design form, but I can't figure out with all my research how to link them together. I'm writing this program to shake off the rust before school starts again, and for fun. I took VB in school last year, a half year class, so I have a foundation, now I'm self-educating myself above and beyond the class. I've searched for a way to use a picture box array to use the coordinates of the ship to .Visible=True the picture boxes. I've been working on this for 2 days straight with no results. I just need a little nudge in the right direction. The exception I've been getting with my latest concoction of code is NullReferenceException was Unhandled. I have this code in my system which I use to retrieving images from a database by formatted blob. But some database records don't have pictures ([BLOB - 0 B]). list code for me to place an error picture in picture box1 when a picture is not available.
