Jan 5, 2011I am currently building a system in SQL Server 2005.
I have a table that holds information about certain insurance schemes such as overheads and other things. These values will change occasionally and currently I administer the database straight through the management Studio.
I would like to build a simple interface that will allow my colleagues to change these values by selecting the company in a dropdown and the current values will populate. They can then edit these values and submit them to the database.
Is this possible in the current Visual Studio supplied with SQL Server 2005 or do I need to get another product.

Actually none of the color options work on any of the sections of the control.I am trying to hide the white border around the control and but a blue bar under the name of the month (top section).I have tried deleting the control and creating it anew on the form but no luck.It was working a couple of weeks ago.

Apr 1, 2009I have a listview with a number of items with different color backrounds on each. But when i click on one of the items, the color of the item that the selection has just left turns to white, but it is recognised as being green/blue/whatever. If i open up another form on top of that one, and then close it, the colour comes back for the area that the form was covering.
I have a textbox that changes its backround color based on the color of the listview item currently selected, and that always shows the correct color.
I'v crawled the web and can only find one instance of it happening and that was a graphics accelerator problem, but i cant turn off my accelerator.

When I select one of the ComboBox items, I want to trap the change and add additional columns based on the item selected in the ComboBox. I've tried using CellValueChanged for the DataGridView column, and a bunch of other events, but none of them is fired when the DataGridViewComboBox value is changed. What is a good way to go about establishing a "work area" where one can have multiple "floating forms" in this area.Can you have a form which occupies the entire windows desk top and the other forms "float" in this space? the "floating" forms would need to interact with each other where pressing buttons etc on them would affect other forms on the "workspace") Or what would be a good way to start accomplishing that? Apr 21, 2010I'm trying to make a .dll that contains a lot of basic functionality that a program can use. Currently i am trying to use interfaces to make a lot of this functionallity independend of the program using it but i hit a snag. The Basic idea is that a programmer will create his own object using the interface discribed in my .DLL file. Then implements those functions as he likes. He can then instanciate a controller (found in the same DLL) and sends his custom object implementing the interface to that Controller. The controller can then be started and will take over all the work. I do not know what type of object is send to the controller and idealy i want to program it in such a fashion that i shouldn't care as long as the object send implements that interface.In code I am trying to achieve the following: (quite simplyfied)

this propperly. I know that the second i set the interface adaptor in the Controller VS comes nagging that it can not be converted to a "MyInterface" Class. Obviously i am doing something wrong. I can change the datatype that the controller expects to the "MyController" type but that would completely ruin the whole idea of flexibillity. I am hoping someone sees what i am trying to do and can point out where i made the thinking error.

Nov 18, 2011in the codebase i'm maintaining there is an old interface. Let's call it IFoo. It pretty much became obsolete and replaced with the Interface INewFoo with a change a few weeks ago, but for backwards-compatibility purposes, i wrote a wrapper class which implements INewFoo and takes an IFoo in the constructor.To clarify, consider the following code.

For both interfaces, the implementations are loaded by scanning a few assemblies with StructureMap. Now, let's get to the bad things. Most implementations for the old interface were put into forms for reason i can neither understand nor change. Because those tend to be displayed and disposed, i have to create a new instance every time i use ObjectFactory.GetAllInstances(Of IFoo). Thats still no problem, but i'd like to register a INewFoo-Wrapper for each registered implementation of IFoo, so that i can just use ObjectFactory.GetAllInstances(of INewFoo) and get all implementations of IFoo AND INewFoo.I can't iterate through the implementations of IFoo and register a wrapper for each one because as far as i can see, you can just register those with instances.Wrong code below:

My question is: Is it possible to register a wrapper for each implementation of IFoo which always creates a new instance of the implementation before creating a new instance of the wrapper?

Cascading Combobox - When Change Cb1 - Change Cb2 And Click Save Button - Cb2 Seems To Be 'lost
Feb 15, 2012I have two combobox in a form: Cb1 and Cb2
When I load the form, Cb1 and Cb2 are connected to a bindingsource.
When I change Cb1, the code (below) changes Cb2 to show only the items according to Cb1
This is working fine.
The problem is when I change Cb1 , change Cb2 and click the save button..... Cb2 seems to be 'lost'...
I'm using VS2008.

Feb 20, 2012I'm getting familiar now with using the Dataset Designer and how it makes for quick and easy updates and query of tables. I use to use the OleDB commands and leave the Connection String as a Global Constant so I can easily change it if the server name changes, or if we have to re-direct the .NET to another instance of the database.
But now that I use the Dataset designer I'm concerned that I maintain flexibility and support in the long run. how the Dataset designer works and where it stores it's connection string info? And how difficult that would be to update. It looks like I modify the App.config file, but I'm unfamiliar with this.
What am I getting myself into? It looks like a standard XML file. Is that it?

Feb 9, 2011Ok, so I know I have to change the labeledit to true but that doesn't change the selected node to be able to edit, so how does that work?
Along with renaming I have it set to that a user can add a node. So once the node has ben added how do I let them rename it as it is being added and without being a prompt or inputbox? So lets say I cam clicked on a parent and they click add node, it adds it to parent but I have it so it is default "New" but I want them to edit it as it is added. I think it will be along the same lines as clicking on one and rename but I have to start some place.

All these combo boxes have databound items which come from the same column in a table in the database (access 07) (Am designing a billing software, and these comboboxes show the items (10 lines of them).All these combos reside in one Groupbox.Now for the strange (scary/funny) part, whenever I change a value of 1 combo, all the other combos change automatically and show the same value as the one that was changed. (strange!).
