Text And Image Manipulation In The Form Of Hiding Messages Within The Image?

Apr 1, 2010

i have an assignemnt in my visual basic express 2008 class, were i have to type in an image name, like paris.jpeg,and automatically manipulate the file to be called paris-steg.png. Once this happens i click the manipulate image button and the image should be altered so that paris-steg.png has a message hidden in it. Then i have to decode that message. At this point im having troubel getting the file name to automatically appear as paris-steg.jpeg, and you will proabbly see why with my code. I need to know how to do this. The way i have it, i basiaclly add -steg.png onto the text typed into the text box, this doesnt work when the user types in paris.jpeg as it comes out as paris.jpeg-steg.png. heres the instructiosn and my code

(6) When the text file does not exist, alert the user with a message box and do not do any further processing.
(6) When the image file does not exist, alert the user with a message box and do not do any further processing.

[code]...

In this program you should read text from a file one character at a time instead of one line at a time. If <tt>sr</tt> is an IO.StreamReader, then <tt>sr.Read()</tt> will return an integer that is the value of the next character in the file. Use <tt>Read</tt> instead of <tt>ReadLine</tt> in this program.You can check whether a file exists by using the code <tt>IO.File.Exists(filename )</tt> . The function will return a Boolean value (True if the file exists but False if not).

You can check whether a string ends with a specified pattern by using the <tt>EndsWidth(pattern )</tt> function. For example, if <tt>s</tt> is a String, then <tt>s.EndsWidth(".txt")</tt> will return a Boolean value (True if <tt>s</tt> ends with the pattern but False otherwise).In a string, <tt>IndexOf(pattern )</tt> gives the first position where the pattern exists, but <tt>LastIndexOf</tt> gives the very last position where the pattern exists.The code <tt>s = Chr(i)</tt> converts the Integer <tt>i</tt> into a character and assigns the character to the string <tt>s</tt> .

Image Manipulation Library For VB?

Sep 3, 2011

this topic has been touched multiple times on Stack Overflow, but my search still did not give me an answer.

I'm looking for a SIMPLE and easy to use, very basic, image editing library. All I need to do is check the size of jpeg and png files and rotate them by multiples of 90°.I can develop my app in VB.NET or preferably VB5 and I'm not using any other library.

I tried the Advanced Image Library (based on Free Image Library), but I can't get the dll to correctly register and I'm afraid that I will also have problems when distributing the application.Is there something simpler? If it's not free it's fine, as long as the cost is reasonable.

Bitmap / Image Manipulation Effects / Methods?

Apr 18, 2012

Back when I used to use an 8 bit home computer I dabbled in machine code with an old version of BASIC which allowed you to POKE values into memory and then call the 1st memory location to execute that code. I used the equivalent HEX values for the processor which ran a series of ROR ( ROtate Right ) or ROL ( ROtate Left )commands through the carry bit as each line of the bitmap consisted of a series of bytes which were an 8 bit BYTE followed by the next BYTE in memory. The effects that I manage to create "in assembly language" as it were:

Scroll leftScroll right By manipulating full bytes in memory I created routines to:Flip the image horizontallyFlip the image verticallyTurn the image upside down Anyway, if you were to try this with the BASIC equivalent to GET and SET pixels, obviously the BASIC was a LOT slower. I am also interested in creating animated bitmaps from one or two images such as the following:Page turn effect.Sliding-in of an image in any direction.Ripple effect.Scratch effect.

VS 2008 - VB BITBLT Equivlant - Build Image By Opening Files With Image Data

Nov 2, 2010

In VB6 you could BITBLT things around before refreshing the screen. In .NET, I'm aware of DrawImage, but that can only be done on a paint event rather than before anything gets painted. The issue I have is, I need to open several files with image data in them and then build a bigger image with those smaller images. Before I could open them, BITBLT them to a Buffer. As far as I can tell .NET offers no way to do this as the only function I've been able to find (DrawImage) only works within the paint event. Is there still a way to do this in VS08 or no?

Load An Image, Change Individual Pixel Brightness And Save New Image?

Dec 22, 2009

I am "weeks new" to visual basic 2008 but I was hoping that someone might tell me how I can open an image in whatever type of "visible" graphics window (always positioned at: x=0 y=0); move to some "definable position" of interest x=(n) y=(n); change the brightness of that "individual pixel" by some "definable means of measure" from its original state; and save the new image as a separate image file?

PictureBox - Image: Select The Path To A Local Folder That Is Within The Application And Get An Image From It?

Sep 15, 2010

I have a Picturebox and a two Buttons on my Form. On click of one of the buttons I want to change the image in the picture box at runtime.

This works fine when I give the location of the image (the full path ) on my computer - but then of course it will not work if I use the solution on a different computer .

So I have made a folder named "Pics" inside my application and added two images into it.

How do I get to this local folder in the following code?

Picturebox1.image = system.drawing.image.fromfile (??? )
instead of the usual,
Picturebox1.image = system.drawing.image.fromfile ("C:UsersMyName My PicturesMyPicture.jpg" )

Transparent Controls Over Form With Background Image Shows Backcolor Not Image?

Sep 18, 2009

I can't remember exactly if this is possible or not but what I am attempting I would think should theoretically be possible. I know it is possible in WPF but the company I am working for doesn't want to make the transition just yet. Basically what I want is to use a background image on a form for the background and I have a docked control on the right and left. I have set the background on both of these docked controls to transparent however it is showing the back color rather than the background image. I tried, rather than setting the background image property, to override the onpaintbackground and onpaint events and use e.graphics.draw(picture, me.clientrectangle) but it still seems to just pick up the backcolor as the true transparent background so I'm wondering if it's possible to get it to show the background image through the control rather than the backcolor of the form?

I hoping to find a current and simple way to do this. I'm using VWD Express 2008 and SQL Express 2008.I'm able to get the client's path to the image file using an asp:FileUpload control on the web form.

How do I upload the client's image file and display it in the web form's image control?How do I save it to the sqlserver? The image table is already set up with a "Image" data type column. Can the image be saved to the database as simply as other data types?

.NET - Check If An Image Can Be Deleted Or Is Writable After Using It To Perform .net Image Scaling

I can't check to see if it's done using the image so I wondered if there was a way to check to see if the file is writable. A small loop that exits once it becomes writable (or "deleteable").
