How can i 'count' through items in a list box using a do loop?
in the vb6 code i have the format is as folows, but the error is List is not a member of combobox, i know what the code wants to do, but i can't think of the member of combobox to use. (My question is what is the "new list"?)

I run a "make table" query to gather some numbers from a database. I then display a list that contains the numbers that I have gathered. The list will very from 1 number up to 20 numbers. I then want to run a report (print it, not display) using each number in the list. When I get to the end of the list I want to stop and close the list. I can do this if my list were say 10 numbers long each time but the list varies. The below is what I have. I repeat this 20 times(changing the # in the () ) to cover the list if it returns 20 but I want to stop if it is shorter than 20.

In a list(of structure), i constantly have to modifiy the property of items using this code

But this give problem when two or more of the items call this sub procedure. in that one item may already have been removed. This code is executed in the ui thread, and has to be.so is there a better way to modify the items in list structure?

I have a user defined structure in a list that I am trying to change the value for in an individual element within the list of structures. Accessing the element is not a problem. However, the compiler complains

I have a .txt file i want to read that has states by abbreviation and states by name. In that text file some are territories and some are states.
I want to read from that file and put the abbreviations into one structure array and the states into another structure array.
I then want to lookup up the states by abbreviation or state name. The lookup will simply be selected by a radio button which will flag either the states full name array, or the abbreviation array.

I have a class (using a class rather than a structure only because I can set a default field value for the fields I declare in the class) and I'm using a web service that returns information (demographic information) in JSON. I am using LINQ to get the values of each "entry" from the returned list and in that, I have to parse through and pull out the actual data that I want.Here's how I have it doing right now (just a start, there are 44 of them total, thus my question which will follow the code):

It's my first time playing with the DataGridView properly and I've hit a little snag...I need to display data in a DataGridView for ease of viewing, and I have a list of all the data. It's a list (of a structure), and I've got no idea how to do this. I can set the datasource as the list, but that doesn't work. I've read up on the topic but don't really understand. Am I forced to use classes not structures in this instance?

I'm able to create a List(Of String) containing a local directory structure of a LOCAL folder. I'm wondering how I would go about getting this structure for a website, in order to get a listing of all files of a particular type (for example: all .html files)
Something along the lines of what Xenu does would be perfect, but I don't know how to get started. I was thinking of doing something with parsing out "/" of the URL, but then you'd need to know the "deepest" file that exists on the site.. which you won't know...
Is there a way to get a folder listing of each directory of a site without having FTP access or something? (I'm assuming no due to security risks)
My only other option would be to crawl all hyperlinks within the site, and storing all the "internal" ones, but I don't know how to set up that loop, or how to know when it has reached the "deepest" level.
Kinda like when you delete a remote folder from FileZilla, it will traverse all sub-diretories first and delete those files.

I'm using a Listview in VirtualMode, so I can 'add' a lot of files almost instantly. A Listview in VirtualMode does not allow sorting, so I need to sort the data myself. II am trying to create a toggle button that switches a list to a range and then back to a list if needed. I am able to get it to do both but when I add an item to the list, convert to a range and then convert back to a list it leaves off the last items I entered.I tried to work in a code to select all cells but I must not be putting it in the right place.This is what I have so far:

In VS 2008, VB.Net, I am successful connecting to a local SQL Server (version 8) and seeing all tables/views/procedures in Server Explorer. The local OS is Win XP Pro SP3. I created an ODBC data source to a remote SQL server (also version 8) with a database of the same structure as the local one. The connection tests out ok. The remote computer runs Windows Server 2000 SP4. In the VS 2008 Server Explorer I add this ODBC source. When I click on the plus-signs to expand items, neither the tables nor the views show anything, whereas the full list of procedures appears. Is it the old SQL Server version? Is it the old Server OS version? Something else alltogether?

I'm studying as a mature student for a Computing Degree (encompassing web design, hardware, programming and systems analysis). The programming seems to be my weak spot this year. Does link text mean I have to return a concrete implementation? Even though I am using svcutil with the /r that includes my entites(where IMyInterface is defined). I get no errors but it changes all List(of IMyInterface) to list(of Object) and I cannot deserialize it on the client

I'm looping all the properties in an object via reflection:

how to determine whether the property in question is a generic List(Of T)? If it is I need to loop the list itself.
I've experimented with GetType and TypeOf but have not managed to get anything working.
To clarify, I want to keep this generic. I do not want to specify the type of T, I need to loop the list items and call the ToString method on each item. T could be one of a number of different types (application specific reference types). Is it possible to do this without specifying types?

I have implemented inheritance for two parent classes called Table and Field. Each parent class has several child classes. In the Table parent class, I created a method that expects parameter List(Of Field).

This program is supposed to allow the user to check items in a checked list box. If the item is checked, it goes into the Completed List Box on the right. The program then adds the unchecked items to the Pending list box on the left. I keep getting placement values (e.g. O,1,2) instead of the strings (e.g. "Key Returned") in the list box results (see photo attached)
