My client wants an intelligent combo box with type ahead capability. For example let's I have a list of companies. I want to find my company "MetaPro". With the Microsoft combo box if you type in the first letter of the name it will bring up first one starting with that letter. For example I type in "M" it will bring up "Mass. Dept. of Ed.", I then type in "E" I get the first one starting with "E" maybe "E, G & G" where I want the first one starting with "ME".
Perhaps there is an open source solution to this or I could create a custom control. But I don't know how.
Got a problem that's hopefully a quick fix. I've got a homework assignment where I have to link an access database file and allow the user to go through the records, add/delete records and save the file.
When I run the program everything seems to work fine, except when I hit the next button to go to the next record, it always skips 2 ahead, from 1 to 3 and 3 to 5. The previous does it also and when I click the delete it deletes 2 records. I can't figure out why it's doing this. The table we linked was already created for us so I don't believe that it is a problem with that. One weird thing I noticed is that it shows that there are 5 records so I wouldn't think that it is seeing 2 as 1.
I am using VB.NET and I am trying to come up with some algorithm or some pseudo-code, or some VB.NET code that will let me do the following (hopefully I can explain this well):I have 2 collection objects, Cob1 and Cob2. These collection objects store objects that implement an interface called ICob. ICob has 3 properties. A boolean IsSelected property, a property called Length, which returns a TimeSpan, and a Rating property, which is a short integer.
OK, now Cob1 has about 100 objects stored in the collection and Cob2 is an empty collection. What I want to do is select objects from Cob1 and copy them over to Cob2. I want the following rules obeyed when selecting the objects though:

On the site below they tell me how I can use BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer System). The only problem is that the Microsoft.Msdn.Samples.BITS namespace doesn't exist in Visual Basic Express Edition. Does Anybody know how I can use bits using vb.net?
I have a managed directx 9.0c application that fails to run on some low spec machines (ones without graphics card).I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions with regards to the minimum directx caps to test for so that I can catch a potential failure before trying to run the application.The directx application only displays a few meshes and a couple of textures and nothing too intensive
In the last day or two I've lost the ability to edit code while the program is running (and halted at a breakpoint).I also can't instantiate otherwise unused test variables for purposes of examination - I'm told they don't exist in the current context.Also System. I want to make a download Manager with resume capability (dont refer me to codeproject examples which use httpwebrequest and webresponse classes) i want to make the use of system.net.webclient class. I know it can provide me with events and stuff but is it possible to resume our downlaods with this class ?

am trying trying to write some code for a ComboBox that does the following:
1. Allow the user to enter text into the combo box to type entries contained in the list source.
2. Enable autocomplete to assist the user in selecting entries in the list source, both from dropped down state and non dropped down state.
3. Restrict the user from typing an entry that doesn't exist in the list source.
My requirements are:
1. The ComboBox must run some code after a selection has been made or the user has finished typing an entry (not after the focus has been moved to another control)
2. The code must only run once after the user has made a selection from the combobox or has finished typing an entry
The problem: To achieve the above functionality, I had to run code on numerous event's. Sureley there is a better way, here are the events and the reason for the code:

Is Win32 API a good approach for use with USB communication between VB2005 and a microcontroller with USB capability? If so where can I find these APIs?
Has any one used BITs in VB.NET? If so, do you have code samples? I was looking at SharpBits but I have a VB project that I wanted to use BITS for. Is it possible to use it with my VB.NET program? (.NET 2.0) I was tempted to try to convert each class to VB.NET in the SharpBits.Base folder but figured I'd ask in case someone has headed down this route before.
In case you run across this question. What you can do is in the Sharpbits.Base folder (that you download from codeplex) there is a DLL you can reference in the Bin directory. You can add that into your references to access it. Marking Konrad as answer since he was kind enough to post.
I managed to get sharpbits working with some quick code which I pasted below for anyone who might stumble upon this question. Like I mentioned above add the DLL to your project.

You'll need to write some logic to check for the status of the job. Once it hits "Transferred" status you can then mark it as complete. This will write the file from a .bin to the file name you listed. Something that helped me was installing the Windows Support Tools (you can get it from a Windows 2003 Cd/DVD in the sup tools folder)and using Bitsadmin.exe to view the status of the job while debugging.
I'm presently creating an application which uses Access2007 as the database. No problem there. But Since most use Excel for data-entry, i've created two tables in access linked to excel source file. Any change in excel will reflect in Access database and subsequently in my Application . Until now my application only reads the database and displays records in DataGridView. These records, i then export to excel along with other formatting for direct printing as a report as I have no idea how to make report. Now i want to add data-entry capability to my app using password-protection user-access. So i can directly add new record to source file. Also need to know if There's any way of eliminating Access from the picture entirely....
I've got an issue with an Access97 replicated database that I'm writing a small monitoring app for. I've got FSW's to track changes to the necessary files, but am having some issue in enumerating exactly what has changed in some instances, specifically when attributes may have changed. I'm using a similar strategy to track this as I did for changes in size. I've got a Private class variable for the size of each file and a local method variable and compare the two, when different, update the class variable for the next comparison.

i wanted to link options selected from Comb box A (general) to specific options in combo box B (specific). I want to pick a word in Combo box A that has specific words/phrases in Combo Box B show. How to use a databound combo box to display one field in the drop down, and another as the combo box text on roll up? Using VS 2005... For example, I have a datatable that has 2 fields.
