May 28, 2012I made an aplication on windows XP and VB.Net 2008 and works fine, but I moved to Windows 7 and Visual Studio 11 Beta and it wont let me build my aplication and displays this error When I double click on the error msg a window pops up a says "There is no editor available for C:(file path)AssemblyInfo.vb

Jun 14, 2010I have a solution with more than one project and the main project contains buttons to open forms from different projects that are in the same solution. Say Project1 is the main project and Project2 is the different project that gives the following error when i compile it:
Error 3 'Sub Main' is declared more than once in 'SystemInformation': SystemInformation.Program.Main(), SystemInformation.My.MyApplication.Main(Args() As String) System Information II
I have already seen other threads with this question but it does not work for me because i have more than one project.For Project2: Application Framework is disabled and the startup object is "SubMain".

Jan 26, 2010I don't know what this is called so I've struggled to find an answer from google but I have a vague memory of it from t'old days.I've sub-classed (* see below) about 8 framework controls, overriden some properties and added some functionality into each one.The changes I have made are identical in every case. If I make a change, I have to go through each class and apply the same change there.I was hoping there may be a keyword such as <IncludeSourcefile "common.vb> that I can put into each class.
(* note) I use the term sub-classed but I don't know if that's the correct terminology. I've also seen it used for call-backs. Is sub-classed the correct term to use?
Replace Error When System.IO.File Used?
Mar 23, 2009I have some code that uses the Replace function to modify the content of a string like:
x = Replace("Hello World", "H", "P")
This works fine until I decide I need to use so of the abilities found in "System.IO.File" When I place at the top of my code.

The " x = Replace("Hello World", "H", "P") " code pops up with the Error: "Expression does not produce a value."Looks as if the System.IO.File I now want to do some file manipulation..

Jan 15, 2010I have added bat_fix_w7.reg as a resource file, with binary type, now when i run the code it gives me err System cannot found the file specified, but when i checked my F: drive the file is there than why 2 line is generating err.

Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted.I am trying to read all drives with FAT16, FAT32 and NTFS.My PC is using NTFS and is running normally.

Oct 19, 2011I've implemented with Visual Basic 10 an application for Net Framework 4 with functionality to send files via e-mail using System.Net.Mail. It works well except when it comes to sending an XML file whose name contains accents. In the latter case the UTF-8 name is not correct, so Widows Mail Life presents him with name consisting of a set of meaningless characters. Furthermore, the content has lost the format of lines and spaces, presented part of MIME type information in the header, so that it is unreadable XML readers. Jul 23, 2009I created a SQL application that synchronises with a SQLCE database when loaded. Works fine on my Dev machine but produces the following error on user machines:
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Synchronization.Data, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
File name: 'Microsoft.Synchronization.Data, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91'
In my attempts to fix, I have:
1) Reinstalled SQL Compact Editon 3.5 on the client machines
2) Reinstalled .NET Framework 3.5
3) Installed Microsoft Sync Framework 1.0 (which puts the 'missing' DLL onto the machines).
This still fails with the same error.

Partially locked files fail to copy, and the destination gets deleted. Aug 1, 2010I am studying Visual Basic How to Progra by Deitel on my own. I am a beginner. My last two programs I have received the error message: Sub Main() not found. I am certain that I typed it in underneat Module Comparison. The program will not run.
Could it be a naming problem? If so can I correct it without re-typing the entire program.
I am using 2008 Visual Basic Trial Edition. Would it be better to use 2010 Visual Studio Professional?

May 5, 2011I am using VS 2008, Office 2007, and Win7 Home Premium on my system.I have a simple application which should be a breeze to build. All I am attempting to do is pull data from an Access database with four small tables into a data grid on a windows project. Should be simple, set up the data connection, choose a datagrid from the table in the data source view, drag it onto the page and done, right?I can't get it to work. It will all work fine until I attempt to run or debug the project. The data will not show up. The data grid does, but I get this error: A first chance exception of type 'System.InvalidOperationException' occurred in System.Data.dll
As I said, the project seems to build fine, but it will not pull the data. After the initial build I get the message that Windows will show this page in Compatibility View. Is it something with Win7 Home Premium, or a setting somewhere?

Mar 6, 2010I wrote the code below which calculates the length of a line on the form and save record. An error occurs when the programme tries to save the record. It gives me "Cannot perform '=' operation on System.Int32 and System.String" error. I checked the data type of "ID"(int), "Microscope"(Varchar), "Magnification"(int) and "Calibration"(Decimal), and they are fine so far as I know.

Jul 13, 2010I have a windows service written in .NET 2.0 that will run every 5 minutes and executes bunch oracle SQL/PLSQL scripts based on time/validation, it throws the above said error some times against some SQLs, the same SQLs run fine at later point without any error, I have no idea what is going on with the app. I am not sure if this has any thing to do with oracle connection pool as I am properly closing the connections after every SQL execution.
