Hidden Database Files In Application Folder After Installation?

Nov 16, 2011

I have tested a few applications downloaded from net. They are surely database applications but when I checked in the folder where the application is installed, there is no database (no mdb, sdf etc.) When I install my application, my databases are always in the folder.

What is the trick to make them invisible but they should still work.

Make An Overview Of Certain Files In A Database?

Jul 15, 2008

I am currently trying to make an overview of certain files in a database. To make it easy to use I decided to use a tabcontrol so the user doesn't haveto click other buttons to go too another overview. My question now is, if i have 2 different datasources ( so 2 connections to a different acces database ) and I want to show detailed information about them, on 2 different tabs, using a bindingnavigator to scroll through the records. How do I do this? It's always just one tab working and the other doesn't.

WAV Files Not Included After Installation Of Application

Jan 28, 2012

I'm trying to publish the application and install it on another PC. However, when I install the app, it doesn't include the .wav files; I have to add them into the folder myself once the app is installed. They are included in the solution window under bin/debug before I hit publish.
Using
My.Computer.Audio.Play(Application.StartupPath & "" & "Treyson.wav")
to play the sound.

Setting Path Of Associated Files For Installation Package?

I have a .chm file linked to my app that is presently being called from it's actual location.HelpProvider1.HelpNamespace = C:Documents and SettingsmgfranzMy DocumentsVisual Studio 2008ProjectsApp NameCleanUp.chm

But when I package the app the directory is going to change to C:Program FilesApp Name by default. The problem arises if the user decides to create an alternate directory. Is there a way to set a $Path at setup runtime so that when the .chm file is called it knows to look in the Home installation directory? Here is the code I use to call the .chm; Private Sub PictureBox1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles PictureBox1.Click

Include Database In Installation / Deployment Project?

Apr 20, 2009

My company has an application that until now has been distributed as exe-file together with lots of dlls. I am about to make an installtion program for this application, but there is one big problem. The database can be both access and SQL, the user decides by what he/she writes in the connection string in the .config file. I know how to insert a custom action in the installtion program to enable to let the user chosse this during installtion, but I don't know how to include the database in the project, especially since it can be both access and SQL.

Installation Include 2007 MS Access Database Engine?

Dec 16, 2011

It used to be that the VB6 installation tool automatically recognizes a MS Access dependency and includes the appropriate DLL(s). In VB.Net (2008) I am struggling with the concept of having to have two different installations, one for my tool and one for the 2007 MS Access Database Engine... Can you tell me if there is at least a way of manually including the appropriate Database Engine Files in my application installation?

Importing All Files In A Folder (all Excel Files) Into A Single Table In An Access Database

Aug 23, 2011

I am trying to import a bunch of excel 2003 files all with A:H columns and they are under the same headings etc. into a table in access 2003 database. This is a module in access im making. Im using a file search to look for every file that begins with Format (which they all do ) to get at all the files in the folder path. is there a more efficient way to do this? somehow select all files in a folder? and import each to the same table in access? The DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet seeems to take each file path individually so I'm not sure how to get each file name in the folder to import it.

I have this at the moment:

Sub Import()
Dim db As Database
Set db = CurrentDb

Mvc - Saving Files And Names To Database Table Using For Each On Request.files

Mar 9, 2012

I have multiple file upload boxes on a form in my mvc3 application. Request.Files shows 3 files when I put a break point in the below function and look at it.. Problem is other than coding a counter and using a select case I dont see a way to handle saving each file name to the database column it belongs to... Is there away to assign the variable on the fly I guess you could say So that the foreach loop would drop the file in the correct column. Ie handoutFile1, handoutFile2 , handoutFile3, Etc. As it stands the below will overwrite the filename in handoutfile1 every time the loop is gone through. I thought about throwing a counter in the loop and just put a select case on it to assign the db column based on the counter number. Seems like a cheap work around though. [Code]

IDE :: How To Make Backup Files

Jul 17, 2008

(VS.Net 2005/VB.Net)Why is it that VS.Net does not create LOCAL backup files of edits? Is there a way to make it do that?I accidentally overwrote a day's worth of changes by attempting to do a manual mergeoutside of VS.Net.Is there a way to make VS.Net create backup files of your changes each time you save?Delphi does it using an extension of .~pa for your source files and .~fm for your form files. This way, if your system crashes, which VS.Net is certainly going to do, you wouldn't lose the changes you made since your last save point.I know, I know, I shouldn't have been doing the merge outside of VS.Net but I had my reasons and now I[m paying the price.I just wished VS.Net was a little better IDE than it is because, frankly it sux. I am forever waitingfor something and not very productive using it. Hey, I'm getting good at watching paint dry because that is what developing in this tool seems like.
