I am completely new to Visual Studio 2010 and don't know anything about coding.I'm making a program that has lots of dialog boxes. When a user clicks Ok on the dialog, I need it to close the existing dialog box, and open another dialog I made, and so on. View 2 RepliesIs there a better way to make a form with multiple buttons opening different things than having a form that has lots group boxes for each tab. So in the begining each box will be invisible and when you click the button the corresponding group box will become visible. Is there any other way?It will be like a background image and it'll have buttons that will mask it with invisible buttons. when the button is clicked it will open the corresponding group box.
View 5 RepliesI am writing a program for FEMAP API interface in VB 2008 Express. Some API commands open user dialog boxes which requires yes or OKcancel inputs. So much for automation "Sendkeys" do not work, because code execution stalls at the line which opens the dialog boxes. I need stg that runs in parallel, watches for these dialog boxes, and sends the right keystroke at the right time.
View 7 RepliesI'm programming a mass emailer for my newsletter using Outlook.Everything is working great except for two security dialog boxes...The first is how long I should give my application and the second is "if I should let my program send out the email".I do really understand this is perfect security but I need to have Outlook trust my application.These newsletters are going to 1000 people and this would be really tedious if I had to click each dialog box.
View 3 RepliesI have a very annoying problem and I'm trying to find the simplest solution possible, but I seem to keep complicating it.
My program displays a custom dialog box using the ShowDialog function (I create this form using a New constructor), but while my program waits for input in the dialogbox, my program continues to run other code, (I'm assuming initiated from other messages, but I still can't find good information on this, so as an aside to this topic does anyone have a reference about this), and arrives at this same point where the dialog box is to be displayed and displays it. So I end up getting a flood of dialog boxes.
My goal is prevent this excessive amount of dialog boxes. If the program arrives at this dialog initiation point I would like it to wait/pause until the first dialog box is finished.
I'm using a DLL in my program that is free to use in non commercial environments and it generates a dialog box every time I debug my program to remind you that it's not free for commercial use etc.. At first I couldn't care less about the popup dialog box but when your programming all day it gets really annoying. is there a way to suppress those popup dialog boxes or do I just need to go to my happy place and ignore them when they pop up?

I know this topic is all over the web, but I seem to have a combination of issues that is either not addressed or I can't figure out that they are addressed. Here is what I am doing. I am using Webbrowser to log into a a website and navigate to a specific page, enter some query criteria and click a "search" button. This button produces a table of files that fit the criteria. I then go through the table,navigating to the file names and compare against my database to see if I want to download. This all works well.
The issue: there is no URL behind these file names. It is a JavaScript. I am able to call the file with invokemember("click") but I get the pesky dialog box or Open or Save. Then I get the directory dialog box.
I have tried sendkeys, trie to capture the Webbrowser_downloadFile event, tried ObjectForScripting(not sure I did that correctly), all to no avail. I have tried to use WebClient, but since I do not have and actual URL for the file, I did not expect it to work. I can navigate to the href attribute, but not sure how to use it.

This code only generates the number 7 and exits the application, each time i click the random button but i want it to show the other number it randomizes too for example 1 2 3 4 .. etc, if u dont understand, please try it, but im trying to say, when i clikc random it just says number 7 (does randomizing in background) and tells you how much tries it took but i want it to show the other number it randomized also and when 7 appears, then exit the program
I have a button on my form and when clicked I want to show the save dialog box but I want to have a filter so the file saved can only be .txt also I want to change the default location of the save as dialog, is this possible?

Each one is invoked by a different command on a menu. I would like to combine these three into one Save File Dialog on the program. I know that I would have to edit the "Filter" property of the dialog box to add in the other two types.

I've made a program which runs smoothly on XP and also on Windows 7.But after installing it on a windows 7 machine, windows 7 immediatly shows another dialog box of the program compatibility assistent stating:(translating from Dutch, so forgive any mis-translations )
'This program may not have been installed correctly.If this program is not correctly installed, you can try to reinstall the program with compatible configuration of this version of windows.'You than have the option to reinstall the program with the advised compatible settings (?) or choose 'this program is correctly installed'.
If you choose 'reinstall with adviced compatible settings', windows 7 installs the program with 'windows XP, SP2' settings.My program uses only an access database and an internet connetion. Nothing fancy, exotic, registry items or something else.
For writing permission on the database (also win.7), I install the program in 'all users/app data', and not in 'Program Files'. I can't find anything usefull on google,

The command procedure calls a Java program that opens a dialog box, the cmd and java exe shows up in task manager, so I know it is being called, but no dialog box. I know normally having anything show up on a server that requires user interaction is a bad idea, but in the case, the users remote into the server to do their work. (They have to because of the environment) So, there is no problem with them being able to respond to a dialog box. I just need it to show up.

I have a groupbox with 12 checkboxes(containing months of the year). I need to calculate and display the value in a text box.
For example if one check box is checked then on clicking the button calculate, it should be able to display the value 500 in the text box, if two checkboxes is checked then the total should be 1000, if three check boxes then total should be 1500 and so on[code]...
I am trying to get this Program to print. Most of it is working correctly except for the part of the Fragrance. When it prints it is printing the whole list not what I selected. The exterior and interior are printing correctly and I tried to set the combo box up the same way. I did the debugging and I can see it loop thru the printing process over and over to get all the names in my list. I just don't see why it is doing it or how to stop it.

I'm just learning VB with the 2008 express edition.I'm trying to create a program that uses 3 list boxes.The first contains a list of products.After a search is preformed the second list box displays the products found.This is pretty simple, basic array stuff.My problem is moving items from the second list box into a third list box to purchase the product.I think I need to change the index numbers of the stuff I move into list box 3 because when I preform calculations with the stuff in list box 3, it seems to answer like its using the index numbers in list box1.So, how do you change the index numbers when you change list boxes?

It should list the letter grade and the average, then if they don't enter a grade, should tell you to enter a grade first before hitting the average button.

I mean i know i have to code it to call if from a folder but i do not know how to set up the form so i can make my own program. My teacher said that there used to be a thing where you just put in on the from and it did it for you is there a special thing you have to download to do that or do you have to actually go through and code it yourself. I am making a program that is very simple, but I'm have problems with it. It runs like this:Theres a textbox and you enter in any amount you want.Next to that there are three radio buttons, deposit, check and service charge.If you enter in 100 in the transaction text box, and check the deposit radio button, and hit "Calculate" it will display 100 (in a total display box); hit calculate again, it will display 200, then 300, etc..Now lets say you keep 100 in the text box, but you check either "service charge" or "check" and hit calculate then it will MINUS the amount in your total display box. So for example if you had 300 in the total display box, and 100 in the transaction box and you checked "Service Charge" and hit calculate it would display 200 in the total display box, hit calculate again, and it shows 100.. etc..
