Download MSDN Express Library W/o Using Bootstrapper
Dec 8, 2005Is there a link to download the MSDN Express Library without using the [vb]setup downloader/installer? I'm using a dialup connection and I'd like to use a third porty download manager so that I can pause/shutdown/restart the download process a few times. It's 243MB, which would take about 10-12 hours on my connection. I can't tie up the phone line for this amount of time.Is there an external link to an .exe or .msi package somewhere?

Sep 17, 2011I am currently attempting to create a VB.Net script that pulls up information on installed printers. I am using Visual Studio 2010 SP1, and as my target program needs to run on older machines, is currently built using .Net 3.5.Looking online, there are several methods on how to do this, one from url...the code is supposed to use System.Management as you can see. However, after importing System.Management, Visual Studio throws an error and states that ObjectQuery, ManagementObjectSearcher, and ManagementObject are not defined.a quick look at the MSDN forums shows that ObjectQuery is a class of .Net 4, 3.5, 3.0 and 2.I figured the error might be because I didn't have the .Net 3.5 SDK installed, so I installed the .Net 3.5 SP1 SDK to no avail.just to make clear, I am importing System.Management at the top "Imports System.Management"

Feb 17, 2012I am trying to import the GetWindowText in a VB.NET application.So based on other sites you just have to import the interopt service and add a DLLImport statement similar to C#. But somehow it is not recognizing the statement and getting a BC30001 (Statement is not valid in a namespace) compile error.

There are 3 downloads; guide says download as per requirements; after downloading the first one I tried to run it but I think it asked for the 3rd one in a disk! Do I have to download all 3?

Hide Methods/properties Of Class-library (dll) From Visual Studio's IntelliSense?
Mar 3, 2009I am writing my first class-library in VB.NET. My idea is to distribute this library so others may use it in their applications.However, perhaps due to my lack of experience in writing and structuring the library and the classes therein, I noted that the methods/properties are ALL being shown in the IntelliSense of Visual Studio.
The thing is that many of them are only used within the library itself and should NOT be used by the developers (could create a disaster) when they incorporate my library in their application - only a few should be visibile i.e. the ones which are needed by the developer.Thus, my question is: is there a way to hide certain methods/properties of my library from Visual Studio's IntelliSense? Maybe something similar to REM?
EDIT: as mentioned - this is my first library and I now understand that my question could be intepreted in two ways:
1) how to hide something from IntelliSense
2) how to prevent a developer from using and calling certain methods/properties
Of course, the end-result that I want is that the developer is not able to access AT ALL certain methods/properties i.e. No. 2 above.

All tutorials in the wild are making me more frustrated, since the snippets I use, in most cases, are different classes.What should I use? Aug 8, 2011I want to download xsd specifications from a web service and automatic converting (serialize) these schemas to classes (visual studio - vb.net). If the organization that is responsible for the xsd schemas alter them in a way that only my class corresponding to the xsd have to be altered (not the rest of my code) I would like to automatic update my xsd corresponding class.
I use vs2010. What I want to do is: call a web service where I can send in an input parameter to the service which specifies the xsd I want to retrieve (the service is GetShemaDefenition and returns an object with the schema specification in a string property of the object). I den have to read the xsd string from the string property and convert this to a class representation of this xsd specification. Is it possible to do this automatically? I have done this manually by using xsd.exe. If the owner organization of the xsd has altered the xsd specification, I have to test if there is a new specification, and if there is I have to build a new class representation of this xsd? Is it possible to do what I want? And how would I know if it has been a big change in the xsd which also affect other parts of my code, not just the class representation of the xsd?
Update:I use one web service where one of the properties is a string. The string is an XML inside a CDATA block. The organization which provides the web service will not pares the xml inside the CDATA block but instead forward this to another organization that will use the xml data. The organization which uses the xml data specifies the xsd schem that I have to follow to generate my xml correct. This is the xsd schema I can get from another web service. I don't really understand what I can do with this xsd file from the web service. What can I do with it and why do I want to download it from the web service, when I can't use it automatically? Because I have to manually do the changes when the xsd changes I can easily download the xsd schema from the organization's home page and make the new class with xsd.exe.

At the moment I am using Visual Studio 2008 and even though the WSPBuilder is installed none of the relevant SharePoint templates are present.Having searched SO and the web, most advise to install the templates via the Visual Studio command prompt: devenv /installvstemplates
Alas the Visual Studio command prompt is also missing from my VS2008 installation.So, the question remains: which version of VS2010 contains what I need for pain-free SharePoint development? There is a rather large price different between VS2010 Professional and VS2010 Premium, so can anyone tell me if the cheaper version (VS2010 Professional) contains all the Sharepoint templates?
