So I'm passing a masked telephone number in the form of (999)999-9999 to a Function that 'strips' the numbers out and puts them into a string that I then use in an Update SQL statement. So far I have the code below that of course doesn't do anything:

I am using vb.net in a project and in one of my forms i added a datagridview(i am using Access database bytheway). In this datagridview i have 3 columns from the same data table(name, surname,telephone). I have a problem on getting both the names and the telephone numbers into the textbox.I have 2 textbox, a 'To' button and another button in the form1 while I have a datagridview which display the details of the customers and a button which for after selecting the selected details. When the application is run, I click on the 'To' button and it will link to the form2 which is the datagridview that display the details of the customers. After selected the details, it will click on the button on form2 and it will go to first textbox of the form1, it will display the telephone numbers. after that when I click on the other button, it will extract the string from the first textbox. But the problem is it get only the telephone numbers. why is that so? I want to get both the telephone numbers and names.

I have a problem in putting the telephone number using the datagridview. I have build 2 forms which is form1 and form2. In the form1 there are 2 textbox and a 'To' button whereas in the form2, there is a datagridview which display the telephones numbers and a button. When run the application, the user need to get the telephone numbers from the database so that is why when clicked on the 'To' button, it will go to the form2 which is the datagridview. After selecting the telephone numbers and click on the button at the form2, the telephone numbers will be display at the form1 first textbox. But the problem is that, I grab the telephone number which has been display in the form1 first textbox to the second textbox in the form1. I could not get the telephone numbers.

The system we have in place at work for call centre agents to input telephone numbers doesn't validate their input, so, in a lot of cases, we have junk data being entered (0000000000 as a phone number generally). I've been taked with fixing this, but I'm not sure how to stop the agents entering junk like this.

I know strings are immutable, so the minute you change a string reference's value .NET makes a brand new string on the heap. But what if you don't change the value of a string reference; rather, you simply pass it into a function ByVal -- does this operation copy the string value on the heap as well? My inclination is "no," but I'd like to confirm.
For example:

Return (String.Compare(test, "Hello") = 0)

Calling program:

I know passing myWord by value makes a copy of the reference to "Blah", but since I have not tried to change the string itself, would it make another copy of the string on the heap?

I'm looking for help in fathoming an algorithm for splitting this string into the numbers so that I use each number as an argument within a separate query.Since there maybe only one number, or dozens I cannot work out the logic to make this happen correctly each time.

In this particular project (i.e. not in general) at some point something changed. I am in debug mode and start the debugger (F5). My code pages are now tagged as 'Read Only' and when the debugger stops at a break point I cannot make any changes. When I stop the debugger, the Read Only lock is removed again. I do not know what I can have done to start this situation (i.e. this project behaved OK until now), and I cannot find a way to stop this happening. This happens in one particular project only. The other projects behave correctly. I checked the Debug setup, and compared whatever I can with the other projects, but cannot make this go away. How can I fix this?

I have wrote a function which validates a masked exit box date format. I have entered into the Mask property 00/00/0000 which on screen translates to __/__/____, great. If I get an invalid date I want to clear the content and reset the focus back giving a message box warning. [code]It all seems to work until I then try to enter a new date. The first number a press seems to push the mask characters to the right and then the rest works. So if I entered 01/01/2009 I end up with _1/01/2009.

So how would I use .next (random numbers) to randomly select something from a list of numbers but it can't repeat the number?I could do:

I have a string I want to parse. I could write the code to do so, but I figured that VS.NET has a parser that should do this for me.however, I can't find it. All the searches I do return info on how to parse numeric values in string form into real numbers. It would be nice if the MSDN search had some ways to allow users to enter more details than just search text and 3 ways to filter out irrelevant stuff. In any case, I also tried things like string.parse (nope - although I kinda figured this would be it.) I also looked at Enum.parse, but the code indicates that it works with arrasy of items, not strings.
