In runtime I'm programmatically changing the forecolor to all label and radiobutton controls placed in the groupbox.
The only thing missing is to set the groupbox text/caption forecolor, but as soon as I do so programatically all controls in the groupbox inherits the font type and color making the text hard to read on the Button controls placed within the groupbox.
How can I Override a Label ForeColor and Font ? For example , the standard label comes with ForeColor = Color.Black and I want it to start with some rgb color . Same for the Font , i want to change it's default Font to another .
View 3 RepliesI'm having some trouble trying to inherit a control that uses an embedded resource. The trouble is - this control uses me.GetType() instead of GetType(ControlName). Now when I try to use the derived control, it looks for the resources in the derived control's assembly, instead of the base control assembly, and obviously - doesn't find them.

On our forms, we have buttons with a dark blue background and a white foreground (the design is dictated by marketing). When the buttons become disabled, the ForeColor goes to a dark color making the button unreadable.
I seem to be having a problem with controls that I am creating as new classes (not UserControls) inheriting from an existing system control. Everything seems ok while I create the control code, through to the compile (which is successful and adds the control to the toolbox) and dragging the control from the toolbox to the GUI surface. View 2 Repliesi have a list of links on a form and when you click one, it will set a specific groupx visible to true in a set position. So I have about 8 groupbopx control on this form. When I drag one out of the way and another in the form in design time, it seems they stay inside one another at times if they overlay. I don't understand this. Then some will not show at runtime depending where they arer left from design time even though I set the position to be in the form. This is completely different from vb6. Why are they staying inside other groupbox controls rather than being independent?

This code doesn't work because the strings returned in the select case block don't match any of the cases that are coded. I need a better way to do this, I imagine there is a more efficient way.

My problem is when the user is seeing the form, I set gbDataEntry.Enabled = False but I want to enable some controls like DataGridviews so the user can scroll them. I am working on an application using a form with textbox controls as a menu. Pressing enter while the textbox has focus invokes another form and hides the menu form. The reason for this is a requirement that the mouse must not function at all in thisapplication. Not my idea but it is my job to make it so.The problem I could use some. When the user presses enter on the textbox on the menu form the keypress event is used to invoke the selected data entry form and the menu form is hidden. When the data entry form opens the cursor is supposedto be in the first field on the form but the first controls keyup event triggers and the enter keypress from the menu form is still active so the cursor moves to the second control on the form. Having the enter key move to the next field like tab does is also a requirement.
In the keypress of the textbox on the menu form e.handled is set to True but that does not prevent the passthrough. I realize there are many ways to force this to work as I intend by putting flags and so on in the data entry form but I have many to deal with and would like to find a solution I can apply on the menu form rather then adding code to every data entry form to compensate for .NET deficiencies.
I have created a series of custom user controls for a wizard interface that I am making. Each user control represents one step in the wizard and really shouldn't be used outside of the wizard. The thing that is bugging me is that each wizard step user control shows up in the toolbox of components to insert into a form.
Is it possible to hide a user control from the toolbox? Better yet is it possible to hide a user control from other classes not in the same namespace of an assembly? Is this a good approach or should I think of a different approach?

I have a program that autologs itself into facebook and monitors posts to my main page and tells me if anything new comes up. Every minute my program refreshes the page and searches for a new post, if my session is expired it logs itselft back in automatically. If I'm in explorer trying to play farmville and my facebook monitor program is running then I'm forced to log in about every minute because my login at the browser kills my vb.net program session.
Then my vb.net program logs itself back in and I'm out! This behavior doesn't happen If I have two browsers running I can log into both and it doesn't seem to effect the other. I can even have my wife log in from another machine while I'm logged in and It's ok. So The question is why is useing the webbrowser controls in the Vb program any different then just having 2 open and logged in browsers and jumping between the two.
It seems there is no easy solution for adjusting a specific format of a used font e.g. for Text. As I understood in order to change any part of the used format we need to use New Font(...) form of implementation which looks a bit odd to me.

which needs to be rewritten as:
TextBox1.Font = New Font(TextBox1.Font, FontStyle.Bold)
which is no reason that I can see why it should be hard like that.Anyway, here is my solution for adjusting the font style using four CheckBox controls (i.e. BBold, BUnderline, BItalic and BStrikeout).Preview is a TextBox control.

In VB6 I would simply retrieve the user font setting from the .ini file, load into variables and then apply to the appropriate control.
