View 2 RepliesI have a datalist that returns multiple entries and I need to insert values via an OnClick command for a button I have with each entry. Problem is it's saying that a label I have in the datalist is not declared, in particular the MyLabel.Text from my Insert statement below. Can someone show me with code how I can declare this label or is it even possible? When I put the label outside of the datalist, everything works fine but when it's inside it says it's not declared. [code]...

I have one table here with a list of UserIDs, Users, and ClientCodes. Each user can be assigned a client code to view that client's data elsewhere. Right now I have to change it for everyone via SQL Server and actually going into the table manually, but I'm trying to make a simple little program that will let the user change it themselves. All I need is a textbox that pulls the user based on a certain UserID from the table, and a drop down list that will not only show the current ClientCode they're set to, but allow me to change it and save that change to the table in the database.
What's the best way to go about this? I tried using the wizards but I guess that's not the best way to go about it. I have it displaying the correct user and their current ClientCode but that's about it.
Is it possible that i would only want to insert one field from a table into another table?

View 2 RepliesUsing MS Access 2007 GUI, I created an append Query, as I always have since version 2003, where I am trying to append records froma a temporary to a master table, all fields match, and keep getting the message:The INSERT INTO statement contains the following unknown field name: <field name>. Make sure you have typed the name correctly, and try the operation again.(Error 3127)
View 2 RepliesHere is hte code I'm using to insert into my database:[code]I believe it is Cell 4 that is causing the exception, because it is a checkbox column and i'm not sure what syntax to use to store the "CheckedState" of it.Yes, I know I should be using parameters, but I don't know how yet, and I would like to make the INSERT statement work before implementing the paramater approach with it.
View 5 RepliesIf I need to set the value of a checkbox (threestate) inside of an INSERT command, what would the syntax be? I've tried 'True' but that fails and I can't think of another way to do it.
View 3 RepliesI am getting an error when trying to access an access database through oledb. The problem is it is saying "The INSERT INTO statement encountered an unknow field name Node Name". I though it might be because the column names contain spaces so I put brackets around them but same issue. I know I am typing it right.[code]

I am not sure if this should be in the SQL or vb.net section. But, Basically I have a vb.net application from where I insert a datetime field into the SQL Server Database. Now for some reason the SQL server field(which is datetime) will not display AM/PM, I have referred this link where my code looks like this:
Dim dateToDisplay As DateTime = DateTime.Now dsNewRow.Item("date_created") = dateToDisplay.ToString("MM.dd.yyyy hh:mm:ss tt")
I tried stepping into the code by debugging and it seems to be inserting the PM but is not displayed in the table QuotedateToDisplay#8/12/2011 6:01:06 PM#Date

I've been staring at this and can't seem to come up with a solution. I've tried several different methods that i found on the web but to no avail. I'm hoping you all could take a look at the code below and give me some direction as to why I'm receiving the error "The INSERT INTO statement contains the following unknown field name: 'Deposit_Date' . I have a form and stored procedure that inserts the data from the form. It works fine except that if a field isn't filled in it doesn't insert a NULL into SQL it inserts "".
I've tried a few different ways but none seem to insert NULL, the one below still inserts "", can anyone point me in the right direction?
Here is the required part of the code, if you require more just let me know.

Dim cmdInsert As SqlCommand = New SqlCommand()
cmdInsert.CommandText = "spPersonalDetailsInsert"

So if I enter nothing into address1 field it should write NULL to screen but it always writes NOT NULL. What does an empty form field equal? in classic ASP it was always "".
How can I achieve this. Insert Null Value into SQL Server DateTime Field?
View 5 RepliesI am using VB 2005 pro and sql 2005 express.I have a form linked to a sql database. and linked a sql field to a textbox. All I get when the program is running is what is in the database displayed.
But what I would like to do is take a value from a textbox and add that to the chosen field database.
I am a beginner and looking for simple code.
I have a table and I want to select a field in it and then display it in a text box
something like:
SELECT userName
FROM userTable
WHERE (userLogged = 'ON')
how can I display the selected username in a textbox?
BTW the userLogged indicates wether the user is logged in or not
if the user is logged in then the userLogged will be changed to "ON"
if the user is not logged in it will be "OFF"
I know it's not that practical but I'm still practicing.
I'm using Visual Web Developer 2008 Express I use table adapter procedures for querying
