Screen Coordinates While Placing Controls Dynamically
Oct 14, 2010
In my vb.net project, i use to add Datagridview dynamically into a tab control. tab pages's autoscroll property is set to true. i calculated the gap between consecutive DGVWs and pass the parameter in the location as like this. [Code]
supposing if i want to 7 DGVWS, say 5 DGVWs are placed finely in expected gap until i do the scrolling the vertical scroll bar. whenever i scroll the bar(vertical) to the downmost end and then again add DGVW into the tab page. unfortunately the 6th DGVW is placed somewhere down and the gap between 5th and 6th dgvw is enormous difference. what i understand is whenever the scroll bar is brought to the bottom most end, the drawing point is taken as the current top view. i don't want like this. Is there any setting needs to be take care.
I'm trying to get coordinates on my screen by holding down my mouse and placing it over different parts of the screen. I'm using the mouse_up and down events in a button to kinda simulate the mouse being held down. The problem I'm running into is that anytime I go past the button's bounds, the coordinates I want stop. This is what I have so far:
I am trying to figure out how to place controls on top of one another in html. For example. I am trying to place 2 labels on top of eachother. and also I am trying to place a text box under a dropdownList.
it is designed to be able to interact with foreground windows and display certain bits of information as each foreground window is displayed. The foreground window will most of the time NOT be a windows form so this makes things that bit more trickier for me. The program below doesn't produce any errors but the problem arises when I try and get the X, Y coordinates of the cursor, at the moment when ever the cursor is moved around I get a very long number as the X and nothing returned for my Y. I find I can set the X,Y coordinates to anywhere on the screen, can also get the foreground forms title,it's RECT coordinates but need to get the cursor info correctly.
Option Explicit On Imports System.Text Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices
I might sound somewhat 'newbish', this is my first post on VB. I was wondering if anyone knew how to convert screen coordinates so it works on other screens as well, I made 2 programs, one to get 'my' MOUSE coordinates and the other to click where I want it to click.
I have an image resembling a chessboard inside a picturebox displayed on the screen at runtime. I am using Visual Basic in Visual Studio 2008. I need to determine when a user clicks on a particular part of the image. I am able to do this without a problem when debugging on my computer, where I can experiment with trial-and-error clicking to get the screen coordinates of the portion of the image of interest. Everything changes, however, when the program is run on a screen with a different resolution and coordinates.
I can easily get the coordinates for the picturebox that contains the image using PointToScreen. However, there seems to be no such property for the image within the picturebox, which is what I need.
Here's the code thus far, excuse the other bits in between, these are for getting the foreground form title, form coordinates etc, i now need the cursor coorindates where ever the mouse cursor is to:
Option Explicit On Imports System.Text Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices
When I get try and get the x and y coorindates only the x is appearing i think, this gives me a very long number, the y is set to 0. Not sure if I need to take this x number and split it to get my x and y or whether there is logic error in my code
I am working on a project that involves the editing of html of pages on the fly. I have put a webbrowser on the form, and I am able to retrieve the element under my mouse by using: wBrowser.Document.GetElementFromPoint(e.ClientMousePosition) in the Document.MouseClick event. However, I want the experience to be more intuitive, by placing a semi-transparent blue rectangle over whichever HtmlElement the mouse is currently hovering over. I created a borderless form with 20% opacity for this, which works great, except that I cannot for the life of me figure out how to calculate the screen coordinates of the element under my mouse. Here is what I have so far, but while the size is adjusted correctly, the location of the rectangle is just stuck at (0, 0) relative to my form. Highly annoying:
Since the map image is bigger than my screen resolution 1280 x 1024, a horizontal scroll bar is shown. I use Location x and y to place icons, but the problem is:placing an icon at location (0, 0) when the horizontal scroll bar is at left-most position is different from when the horizontal scroll bar is at right-most position...If I move scroll bar to x-axis(right) 10 thenplacing an icon at (0, 0), should be (0, 0) but it is placed at (10, 0).n this case, is there any different approach?
How do I get the screen coordinates of a DataGridViewCell? It seems that GetCellDisplayRectangle get the coords relative to the upper-left corner of the DGV & not the screen. I'm trying to display a small popup form next to a DGV cell that is clicked. I can get the actual cell object with Dim cell As DataGridViewCell = DataGridView1.Rows(e.RowIndex).Cells(e.ColumnIndex), but I need to get the coords of that cell to set the location of the popup form.
does anyone know how to connect points of a label? Let's say I have a label and start the label at point 0,0. Aterwards, the points jumps to 3,6 ... then to 6, 9 dynamically based on incrementing 3. How do I show for example, the path it takes to let users know where they are? for example, 0,0 --> 0,3 --> 3,6 --> 6,9 --> etc. I've tried with drawline but unfortunately, this leaves my lable in a mess.
is there a way of getting the screen coordinates of individual cells on an open Excel sheet, what I want to ultimately do is pass in a cell range say, "A5" into a function and watch the mouse cursor move slowly to that cell. I know this might seem a weird request. I already have a mouse move function but that accepts the x/y coords in pixel terms where excel using .TOP and .LEFT give an entirely different format?
I am trying to build a coordinates system but am having trouble with how to.. What I have sofar is a textbox that allows the user to enter a length. This length is user defined but never smaller then 610 in length since this is the minimum unit size we use to build timber frames. The overall length of a timber frame is infinite (well not really, but it is for what I want) the timber frame has beams every 610mm set apart from each other (this is a legal requirement) so I want my vb.net to set coordinates for each beam at intervals of 610 then write that coordinates system to a text based *.SCR file
I want to translate MouseArgEvent.Location (x,y) coordinates into my custom graph coordinates. Mouse Y coordinates increase from top to bottom while my grid's y value increase from bottom to top. Given my following code, I would need to create 21,500 separate conditional expression for 100(y) x 215(x) possible coordinate locations for my grid.
Sub OnMouseMove(ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) If e.X > 48 AndAlso e.X < 50 AndAlso e.Y > 397 AndAlso e.Y < 399 Then MessageBox.Show("about 0,0")
I'm trying to add a "panel" with controls dynamicaly. Something like the code below, Clicking "Add" button, displays a "Panel" with the controls(which are within a table), the number of "Education" someone can enter is unlimited. I know how to capture the data, but i can't figure out how to implement/code this,
I understand the page lifecycle and how i need to add the dynamic controls on page_init if I want to take advantage of viewstate. Also I know that I should try to avoid dynamic controls when possible. The dynamic controls are created depending on an object that is created from custom event arguments sent from a custom treeview. Problem is I need viewstate so I need to create them in page_init but I don't have the event args to create the object that tell me what controls to add until later in the lifecycle.
Private Function GetEventArgs() As npTreeViewEventArgs Dim control As Control = Nothing Dim e As npTreeViewEventArgs = Nothing
I use this in page_init to create my object and controls.
I've successfully been able to add controls (labels, images, buttons, etc) to a panel control (using VB/ASP). This panel control, I refer to it as "insertpanel". Then I add this panel to the main panel on my webpage which I made during design time. The problem I run into is that when I add multiple controls of any type to the panel, they are all added in line with each other. I tried giving my image some css-styling of[code]....
I am looking for the best way to dynamically arrange the location of labels (or any control for that matter) during runtime in a Windows Forms application using VB.net or C# in VS2008.I have a control that displays messages created by users. This control has a panel docked at the top which holds the header information for each message, called pnlHeader There are 8 labels: 4 of them display static descriptions (e.g. "To", "From", "Created Date", "Completed Date")And the other 4 display the relevant data for those descriptions. (Passed in during runtime from a MS SQL 2005 DB).Static labels are named: lblCreatedDateLbl and dynamic ones: lblCreatedDate The application runs on monitors of various size and resolution, therefor I would like for all of the labels to arrange themselves with equal spacing in pnlHeader, based on the current width of the panel.
At first, I had simply created the labels in the Designer and used Anchors (half of the lables were set to (Top, Left) and the other half to (Top, Right)). This solution worked for most scenarios, but did not always provide a consistent solution, so I decided to add the controls in code instead.
I thought it would be easier to work with the labels by creating a panel for each corresponding pair. So pnlCreatedDate would hold lblCreatedDateLbl and lblCreatedDate I wrote 2 methods: 1 to define each label and add it to the relevant panel: Sub AddLabels and another to determine the width of the panels and set the correct location: Sub SetLoc Currently, AddLabels runs in the constructor after InitializeComponent() and SetLoc is called after the data has been passed in from the database.
I've tried making minor changes and tweaks to the width and size parameters, enabling and disabling AutoSize, but nothing returns a consistent solution, instead either all the description labels are misplaced, or do not appear at all or completely whack locations come up.
Private Sub AddLabels() 'Label Created By:' lblCreatedByLbl.Location = New Point(0, 0)
Develop a Company Logo application that allows users to draw shapes. The application should provide the user with RadioButtons to allow the selection of the next shape to be drawn. TextBoxes should be provided to allow the user to enter coordinates (X and Y coordinates) of the shape, the width and the height of the shapes. Users should also be able to change the shapes colour.my question is how to allow the user to enter coordinates (X and Y coordinates) of the shape, the width and the height of the shapes and change the shapes color from combo box. pro help
below is my code:
Public Class Form1 Dim mycolor As Color Dim mypen As Pen Dim mygraphics As Graphics
I'm developing a website in visual studio 2008 using (asp.net/vb)I have to allow registered users to build pages and add controls that are already defined by the same userMy problem is how to build this page dynamically? In other words, I'd like to make like any CMS (e.g. Joomla). CMSs allow us to make new pages and add our controls then save them..
I am working on a project for a handheld in Visual Studio 2008 where I need to add a group of labels to a panel that correspond to a record on the database. The record is a "Pass/Fail" Record. So, if the record is a "Fail", the failed items will be added below the main group of labels; therefore, many child groups of labels will be added below the main group, which is theoretically the header record. I am using a second panel to add the failed items. My issue is how to dynamically add, name, and position the failed item labels and panels. Below, I have included a sample of what I am trying to accomplish.
What I am trying to do is dynamically create a bunch of dropdown lists and then I want to loop through them and update the database with those values, but the problem I am facing is that I create the dropdown lists, but then when I go back to loop through them they are no longer in the panel. I don't know why but when I am debugging I have a count of 50 controls in pnlTeacherSelect right up until I press the button that calls prcChoose.
This dynamically created content is mostly dropdownlist boxes in the format of
<form method=post action="/questions/nextBatch"> <div id="text">What is your preferred drink?</div> <select>
Is it is possible to perform validation on the dropdowns lists to ensure that a value has been selected? If any of the dropdownlists that still have the default value (the "please make a selection" text) the page is then redisplayed with the font colour of the question or dropdownlist box changed to say red?
I'm from the Webforms world and have made the switch over to MVC (which I really like!) and I know there are some pretty slick validation tools out there but you seem to have to account for them within the view itself.
I cannot pass a HTML helper through the viewdata of the controller as it does not render unless it has been coded directly into the view itself.
like this i have n number of questions in my word document. so my need is i need to read the questions and fill it up in the datagridview with yes or know chek box. my datagridview appearance would be as follows. so the peson who is viewing the questions and can make yes or know option using the check box.if the person chooses no option he has to enter the reason the reason column. so i have to do this dynamically. means that binding datagridview with checkbox ,textbox, data dynamically. how to do this please because after the datas entered in the datagridview i have to loop through rows and i have populate into another word document. so please if there is any sample
How would I dynamically enable/disable group boxes based on a radio button selection? I am trying to do it with two group boxes. The group boxes are called grpSelectChars and grpPWAutomatic. The radio buttons are called rdoChooseChars and rdoRandomlyGen. if rdoChooseChars is selected then I want grpSelectChars Enabled and grpPWAutomatic Disabled. in the load sub I have rdoChooseChars Checked
Private Sub PWGenerator_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load rdoChooseChars.Checked = True If rdoChooseChars.Checked Then
I have been set a project from school to design snake in VB.Net but i am struggling to dynamically add the user control which acts as one of the dots in the body of the snake. Every time i add a dot on to the snake the previous vanishes. I assume this is due to me overwriting the previous one by creating a new instance of the object but i cannot find a way of adding a new one in.[code]I have tried using body(i) and other ways of adding a new instance of the object but am stuck. The subroutine will be called up when a new control is needed.
I am dynamically displaying some controls in a TableLayoutPanel. The problem I'm faced with is that I want the controls to be displayed in a specific order, instead of just filling the TableLayoutPanel from 0,0 till the end of the panel.
I have 5 columns and 5 rows.
1st row is for buttons only, 2nd row for combobox, 3rd row for radio button.
I have 4 textbox on my formviz. txtQuantity0, txtRate0, txtDiscount0, txtAmount0When User Press Enter Key on txtAmount0 a new row of textbox is created as follows txtQuantity1, txtRate1, txtDiscount1, txtAmount1
I have a code that dynamically generates some pictureBox-es. What I want to do is to save them so that they will aslo appear the next time the application is opened. Also i don't want to use an external configuration file so that the controls are generated on file-read. Also I also have some controls that are generated by the designer
In my application I'm dynamically generating multiple rows of dropdowns and populating it with the field names based on the selected table value. Based on the field name selected I want to display a tool tip containing the selected field data. how I can use the tool tip for dynamically generated columns.
I am trying to create an app that adds tabpages into a tabcontrol which has a several controls on each tabpages. However how do I access those controls?lets say the controls I add are named label1 and label2. the tabpage is named infoTab1.
If I do inftoTab.infoTab1.label1.Text = "some text" I get an error saying infoTab is not a member of 'system.windows.forms.tabcontrols' cause in design time it isn't added yet.So how is this actually done? am I on the right track?Any tutorials are more then welcome, tried google but only get basic concept stuff comes out it or trying the wrong keywords.
I'm having trouble trying to access a list of comboboxes created dynamically in one procedure from another. I believe I have to add in an event handler but I not sure how this is going to work. Or should I change the array scope?
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click 'variables declared here.
What I'm trying to do is build 16 forms dynamically at runtime (all will be identical). These 16 forms each will display a camera, which is using an ActiveX control made by a 3rd party. I am able to create the forms correctly and provide all necessary parameters for each control, but since I have to declare my own AddHandler event which checks if the camera connected, I need to somehow reference the ActiveX control at runtime, but I can't tell it which form it's on because it says it's not declared.[code]...
