View 4 RepliesI have a problem with Data Grid. I'm calling my function in dataGrid.cell_endEdit and it doesn't work exactly the way I want it to. If I'm editing a cell and click in menu (or press ctr +s which means Save cell in my program), cell_EndEdit is not running. I know it is correct, but what can i do to save my changes in these cases?
View 4 RepliesI have a DataGridView in which one column has data that the user needs to align by adding spaces. For example, the first two rows might contain:
kumbu
kuimbiu
And the user needs to be able to line up the letters that match by adding spaces. Something like this:
ku mb u
kuimbiu
Now in order to do that with the DataGridView, the user must enter edit mode in the top cell, add spaces, hit enter, re-enter edit mode in the bottom cell, and then add spaces. Our users would like to be able to, while in edit mode in the top cell, hit the down arrow and advance to the second cell while staying in edit mode, saving clicks or F2 hits.
Is there a good way to do this? I have tried trapping the down arrow key press, leaving edit mode, advancing a cell, and then entering edit mode with the grid's BeginEdit method, but this does not do what I want.
I was thinking get the row index and then the cell index and using that to get the specific cell I need somehow but I do not know how to get the specific cell, so would this be easiest if so what command would I use to get the information from the cell, if not how would a better way to do this be?
I cannot find the way to get the row index if one exists so I am guessing it does not exist with this method so how would I go about getting the information from a specific column of a selected row?

View 2 RepliesI have a WinForms DataGridView control on a form. There are two fields in this DataGridControl:
Email Address
Resolved Email Address (calculated based on the input in Email Address)
After the user inputs or changes a value in Email Address, I want the value in Resolved Email Address to update based on a separate method. What event should I tie in to so that that the Resolved Email Address cell is updated after the Email Address cell is updated?I'm not sure where to put the event because the user could do a number of things after adding/changing a value: tab to the next cell, click cancel on the form, click ok on the form, etc.
I have a DataGridView bound to a DataTable that has 1+16 columns defined as Integer. The default cell style is hexadecimal 2 digits (.Format="X2").When entering in cell editing I would like to provide to the user, the possibility to write the value in decimal or hexdacimal.Hexadecimal could be written like, for example, 0x00, 0X01, x02, XFF
Decimal like 0, 1, 2, 15For this reason in EditingControlShowing I add "0x" to the TextBox value

Dim grid As DataGridView = DirectCast(sender, DataGridView)

I am adding an undo feature for a DataGridView using the Command Design Pattern. To create the EditCommand, I have to know what was the previous value of the cell, so I can re-enter it in case the user hits undo. I'm doing it using the CellBeginEdit and CellEndEdit events. With the CellBeginEdit, I save the value of the cell in a private variable and at the CellEndEdit function, I use the saved value to create the EditCommand. It's working fine, but I wonder if there is a more saner way to do it. Maybe a event that holds together the previous and the new cell value. Bonus points if I could actually prevent the DataGridView from updating itself and let the EditCommand do it.
View 1 RepliesHow do I show the error icon when the user is editing the cell?
View 2 RepliesI am trying to trigger a tool tip when a user enters a cell in a DataGridView and starts editing it. The idea being that I want the user to know to hit the Return key after they are finished typing in a string in the cell. I only want the tool tip to show when the user is editing a cell in columindex 1.
The following below does note seem to be working.

I have a datagridview and in the _CellValidating event I am checking a cell to make sure it is filled in. If it is not, I want to stop editing, display a msgbox, and highlight the particular cell. Here is my code :
If e.ColumnIndex = 2 Then
If e.FormattedValue = "" Then
If Me.dgvFish.IsCurrentCellDirty Then
MsgBox("Sample Number is a required field.")

For some reason, I can't get the cell's backcolor to be filled in.
I am trying to display a custom control in a datagridview cell so that I can show nicely formatted information.
I am quite comfortable with the use of datagridview control accepting a list of objects as its datasource. I am also comfortable with populating the cell contents in the cellformatting event.
So I am planning to, instead of using a normal textbox control, button control and linkedtext control in datagridview cell, display my own custom control which is good one for displaying some custom data like, name, address, telephone, photo and others. It would be a nice improvement in my application.
I have a DataGridView and want to update the contents of the CurrentCell while the user is typing.e.g. In a cell of fractions I want the user to be able to enter .957 - As soon as the user types the . I want to programatically change it to 0. without the user being aware of the change.
View 3 RepliesI'm having trouble with setting a datagridview's cell in edit mode, or rather, to let the user type some input on load of a form (as in Excel or the like).
This is my code (after the dgv has been filled):
dgvTentander.EditMode = DataGridViewEditMode.EditProgrammatically
'(or dgvTentander.EditMode = DataGridViewEditMode.EditOnEnter)
dgvMyDGV.CurrentCell = dgvMYDGV.Rows(lastrow).Cells(TeCOL_Quant)
dgvMYDGV.BeginEdit(True)
The code correctly indicates that the cell is selected, and when the page is loaded I can still se the cell selected, but the cursor doesn't appear and nothing happens when I type.
How do I show the error icon and ToolTip when the user is editing the cell in dataGridView?

I work for a shop that maintains a fairly new app. The app still has its fair share of bugs, with numerous tickets coming in daily. The error information we're given with those tickets is not as useful as it might be because the application was compiled in Release mode, which I read is smaller and faster (makes sense).
Are there any ramifications to deploying a .NET application to production that was compiled in Debug mode? I would expect it would be a bit slower, but I've read the difference is nominal. This would assure us that when we get errors on tickets we have line number associated with those errors and this, of course, makes debugging much easier. major red flags that would prevent you from doing this? I'm tasked with researching the possibility.
This is applicable to C# and VB.Net. I am writing a console application, but one aspect of it I want to make representable in a GUI (that being downloads running, with progress bars). is it possible to write a console mode application that can also have a form in it that can be called from code inside the console component?
View 3 RepliesI am attempting to copy the value of the TimeStamp in cell A6 which has the NOW() formula into cell A5 Based on a change in Cell A4. View 2 RepliesThe problem is that if you never enter anything into a cell for a new row then that cell is never validated. This is a problem because I have columns that should not be null. I am doing the check in the row level validation and storing the information about which cells are empty that should not be empty. The row level validation works fine and the row level validation error indicator goes on,(red exclamation mark at the beginning of the row) but I also need a visual indicator on the individual cells that are in error.
I am thinking that setting the HasError property for the cells that are in error should cause them to display n error style (the default red border). Is there a way to this this either from XAML (perferably) or from code?Alternatively I could cause those cells to re-validate when the row editing is finished. Does anyone know how to do this?

I'm attempting to copy cells, one at a time, from an Excel 2003 (or 2007) spreadsheet to a Word 2003 (or 2007) table. I'd like the code to be version-agnostic, and so am using late binding. The formatting of the contents of the Excel cell, such as color, underline, strike-through, needs to be preserved. My approach is to use a Word doc as a template. It has a table at the top which I can copy to the end of the doc, add rows as needed, and fill in the word table cells with the data from the excel spreadsheet. Unfortunately, all the formatting disappears. All I get is the text itself.
View 2 RepliesHave this code so that when a checkbox in a column of my datagridview is checked, then the corresponding cell in column 2 (of the same row the check box is in) will turn blue with font color white.

I'd also like to add a line so that as well as the cell going blue, the bottom border of the cell disappears, so cellborderstyle = none.
