I have set up a notify icon for my form. I want to make it so that when the user clicks the close button that it doesn't close the form it just takes it to shows the notify icon. They can exit the program from the notify icon. Can someone tell me how to keep it running?

When I click on save button without entering data it give me message please enter the required fields but when I enter the data in datagrid it didn't save data and gives same message please enter the required fields.

here i am dealing with only two form,so if i add form1.close() in the form2 button click event then it might wok. but what if i deal with many forms and i need to show and hide them several times?
Is there a way to have a form within a program that doesn't dispose when you close it? I have a form in my project and a menu item to show it. When I declare the form globally and show in menuItem.click, then the click event breaks because the form no longer exists. When I declare the form within menuItem.click, then this creates a new form every time I click and that's not what I want.

What I want to do is when The toolbarbutton1 is clicked it checks for the
Save () - if txtprojend.Text = "" then it displays the message. So far, it does that but then it closes the form. I don't want it to close the form unless the user adds text in txtprojend, as it is a mandatory field.
Is it possible to disable a form from moving still allowing the user close it? How?

I am trying to close my application and I have coded on the form closing, form closed events to call an exit form which asks the user for confirmation to exit or not. All works fine. When I press the X button on the winform things act different. On the main form where I press the X btn I store some user ID data that I use throughout the app. If I press cancel on the exit form that data is lost from the main form and cannot be used afterwards. So if the user pressed by mistake the X btn and then presses cancel on the exit form the application loses some stored data and many functions stop working.

I have played around with the solution expl. settings tab without much success. But, then again I may be going about it all wrong. I have a main form that has a button with which a smaller form is shown. Think of the smaller form as the Find/Replace dialog in many applications, such as Notepad. It's important that the form is (what I believe is called) modal. What I mean is that it always stays on top of the main form. I ensure that by calling the Show method with "Me" as the owner argument. Whenever the small form loses focus it will not disappear into the background but stay visible (albeit out of focus). If you don't understand open up Notepad and have a look at the behavior of the Find/Replace dialog.
Here's my problem: instead of actually closing the form when the X is pressed, I want it to simply Hide itself, so its position and the state of any controls (checkboxes etc) is preserved automatically.To achieve this I simply cancel the FormClosing event and Hide it:

Now. When I run my project, and open the Form2 (small form), then hide it again (by 'closing' it), I can no longer close the main form (Form1)! It seems the main form cannot close when the small form still exists (albeit invisible)...?? When I don't use the Me argument in the Show method, I don't get the behavior I want. I know I can set the TopMost property to True but that will also cause it to become visible on top of all the other forms, even windows not part of my application.
How do i make a form show when a user uses my application for the first time and only shows that time.

I am struggling with this issue for serveral days now.My application needs to work like wsus (windows updates) does. On a certain event triggered by a windows service working under SYSTEM account it needs to show a (second) form under the user context.The IPC Remoting works fine so I think my issue is in the threading.When I use form2.Show() form2 appears but the form freezes.When I use form2.ShowDialog() the form appears but I cannot get the focus on it.

I have created a form which has two things a list box and a button which is labeled "Input Values"The user should click "Input Values" and a new form will appear. This new form will ask the user to enter 10 values into a textbox and click ok after each value. I have a password form that contains a load of buttons. The user has to enter a four digit, numeric, password to procede. They do this by pressing one of 10 number buttons on the screen, the keyboard isn't used. If they enter the wrong password an error message pops up (this isn't using the error tool I just added a message box msgbox("Error Code #638492") or something) if the user doesn't enter a password, after 5 seconds (I use a timer called Timer1 with an interval of 5 seconds) the form closes and it goes back to the previous page.
My only problem is when I close the form using Me.close(), the message box is still displayed. And if the message box is still displayed it doesn't work. The form is miminized (I have the application in full screen) so this is very bad. What I need is to simulate the enter key press then close the form so the enter key is pressed, the messagebox close then the password form closes.I can do this using SendKeys.Send("{ENTER}"). Here's the sub I use:

However, if I don't have the 'Close()' line of code in the message box closes as it should. If I don't have the message box open and I don't use the SendKeys.Send("{ENTER}") then the close() line works perfectly and close the password form as it should?
sometimes, when I use Form.close() when debugging my program, although the form is closed, the application is still running. I noticed this behaviour when using the msgbox function.
