how I can stop the datagridview from creating a new row when I click on the "Add new" icon? The reason for doing this is because I want a form which consists of data details view.
I would like it to be like this. When I click on "Add new" icon, a new form appears instead - no row is created for datagridview.

Instead of completing the property as it used to (code follows), it simply goes to the next line:

What happens now is that, if I type in the 'End Property' code, the name of the property will now be highlighted as an error since it doesn't have a 'Get' or 'Set' portion.However, when I THEN type the 'Get' on the line following the 'Public Property Length() As Integer', then the balance of the property is created in the code automatically.I don't know how this got changed, but would love to change it back.Does anyone know if there's a setting in VS2010 that addresses this, or if it's something with the basic templates that visual studio uses for creating the basic code components?The weird thing is that for everything else, from class declarations, structures, functions and subs, the IDE still creates the balance of the code structure correctly. The only area where it doesn't is for Property declarations.
I have a dataset along with code for validation. When I use a datagridview and setting the EditMode to OnEnter I get the red exclamations telling me that I have an error when this is needed. This works all good. when I click the save button on the BindingNavigator, the application saves the record even when this validation is showing. How do I filter up this validation code through a datagridview and stop the program saving the data? If you need the code for more information, I will add this to the forum.
View 2 RepliesI need to limit a Textbox and DataGridView to only enter text in the fixed size of the cell/textbox on the screen. So I have limited the cell/textbox so user can not change it size. Both allow multiline and wordwrap. cell/textbox is sized to accept 5 lines of data (wordwrap or enters) This is like an online form.So the text enter will be printed so I can not allow scrolling in the cell/textbox.
How can I stop the scrolling of the text inside the cell/textbox.
Also : if the user Paste into the cell/textbox how to truncate text if larger than display area.

I am currently developing a small capture system program. What I intend to do is to create a hot key for my program to capture image (press F8 then it will invoke a button to click automatically). What I manage to do for the time being is only registerHotkey procedure. (Please refer to the coding below). I am unable to create a hot key which perform like a button click.
This is just a testing program: I have 2 forms specifically. Form1 with a button and form2 with a picture box.
I would like to run this program where I can just simply click F8(for instance) instead of clicking the button.
For the time being I am able to run this program and put it in the system tray when I minimize/closed it. When I click F9 the program will pop up again. What I would like to do now, is clicking F8 (for instance and the program able to click a button from form 1 automatically). I had used PerformClick but still unable to do so.

I need to know how to take all of the dates entered and display on a diffrent form the latest date selected by the user from all the entries on a form. I created 2 forms in Access 2003 (Form1 & Form2) for the purpose of creating a 'smartform' of sorts for my company. In essence they can click on a search feature in the top cell and input an employee ID # which automatically fills in about 10 to 15 fields.
- There is only 1 table attached to the forms.
- The group I created this for is uncomfortable using Access.
What I would like to do with VB.net:
- I thought I would create an internal webpage using VB.net so they wouldn't need to log into Access [the DB would be stored on a separate server.]
- I would need a clean & simple interface that has 2 buttons, one for each form.
-When the form is called up I would need a search feature "EMPLID _________" which would connect to the Access DB table and retrieve the correct information.
-Id also need to have the form printable & have the ability to search again or return to the front page.

Alright, so I'm still working on the slot machine. I have three timers all independently going for my three "wheels" of the slot machine.
My issue, is that I'm trying to make a Stop button to stop each timer one at a time, and I'm not understanding why this code isn't working. The logic completely makes sense, and the first "wheel" stops when I click the button, however, it doesnt appear to stop the other two timers.
