Txt To Rtf Folder Coversion, Returns First Rtf File Content Empty?

i'm having a problem w/this conversion code. as the title describes, the first file converted returns w/empty content, but w/the file name.the rest of the files are ok. here is the code, just paste in form and run.. i meant, run the app. ;o)

I am using asp.net oledb to export information to excel file. I encounter problems when the information to export becomes too big, in this case the code I have given below, the excel file generated becomes an empty spreadsheet.If I changed the loop to 1123 for insertion of the rows. The generated excel file is fine, 1125 rows, and 4 columns shown.A test program in windows form is also working fine regardless of how many rows.[code]I couldn't find a solution to my problem as well. What I did eventually was to run the process using another separate windows service. The code works perfectly fine running from a windows form or service program, but not asp.net, not sure why.

but value contains an empty string I confes to being a VB n00b, less than a week, in fact, but I can't see what's wrong there. The file exists, it contains a section called "Config" which has an entry called "UserName" with a value - but even if not, wouldn't value take the default?
Edit: It's not returning an empty string - it's returning whatever I initialize value to before calling GetPrivateProfileString().
Which is to say that if I Dim value As String = "xxx" then it stil contains "xxx" after the call and not the default value.

I have a query that 'selects' object of a type:

What's happening is that if i set a break-point to the constructor of Foo and step, the constructor is hit and the parameters are loaded with the arguments. However, l has empty Foo objects (the members in every object are Nothing). What could be happening here?

I am building a vb.net application for a client, and there is a problem. I am connecting to a mySQL server, and using the UPDATE command to update certain fields to the specified values, however, once I run this code, the fields on the mySQL server turn EMPTY. Here is my code :

treeView control which has been plaguing me for the last few days.
I'm not exactly sure what is causing this problem to arise, so I will just explain what my program is trying to do.
I am building an application which will have plugin support. I have created a Plugin interface, which is implemented by each plugin, as well as a host interface, which is implemented only by the host application.
Each plugin has an Action subroutine, and when finished, it is supposed to call the ExecutionComplete subroutine in the host interface.
Now, onto the problem. I have a treeView on the host form, which has several nodes in it. If I create a button on the form which displays a message box with treeView.nodes.count, it shows up fine, and everything works as expected. If I attempt to display the same messagebox from the ExecutionComplete subroutine, it also gives the correct number of nodes.
This is where things get a little weird. I have implemented a save feature into my program, so you can save and load data. For some weird reason, if you have loaded the data from a file, rather than adding each node manually, it now returns an empty node collection ONLY if I try to access it from ExecutionComplete. If I try to access the nodes from a button, it still returns the correct values!
What could it possibly be about the ExecutionComplete subroutine that makes it return a value any different than what is returned when the exact same code is placed in a button click event? And why does it only happen when I've loaded the data from a file? I just don't understand how loading it from a file is any different than them adding the nodes manually. The nodes are definitely being added, as I can see them, and the button click event can also see them. Also, ExecutionComplete is obviously able to read the contents of the treeView, because it works just fine if the user has set up the treeView manually.

I get an empty string when calling the .Text property. Refer below for snippet:[code]The internet search advises to use Items(col).Cells(2).FindControl(..), the problem with that is FindControl finds the control by ID, BoundColumn doesn't allow you to insert an ID for it.

I have a folder named test. In this folder there are 3 folders(u_test1, u_test2, u_test3). And in this 3 folders are some files.
Now I need to transfer the folders u_test1, u_test2, u_test3 and the content of the folders to a ftp server.

TempUserPath = My.Computer.FileSystem.SpecialDirectories.MyDocuments Returns the string "C:UsersOwnerDocuments" but that folder is actually named "My Documents" (i.e., is "C:UsersOwnerMy Documents" in the Finder).When I try to create a new folder called "Documents" in the Owner directory, Windows asks if I want to merge its contents with the My Documents folder. If I say yes, I am left with only the My Documents folder and none named "Documents".Thus when I attempt to read or write a file to the TempUserPath location, I get an "access denied" error. This happens even after I manually change the name of the folder from "My Documents" to "Documents".

I've been trying to figure out the easiest way to populate a menu to allow for easy updating in the future. I would like to add anything to a specific folder and when the program runs it would be populated by the contents of the specific folder. Is this possible? What should I look into to do this? Not sure of the process to use to do this, that is if it is even possible.

just found out that replace(string does not do the same as string.replace when my string variable was an empty str the first one returns "nothing" and the second returns an empty string (as expected).just sloppy coding anyhow, it was a function that was converted from classic asp and never rewritten properly. I've created a Setup project (in VB.Net 2008 Standard Edition) and I need to deploy some .rtf files in a specific folder for the user to edit. I've added these files to the project as content files but the Setup project installs them in Program File/MyApp along with the exe. As these rtf files need to be found easily by the user I need to specify a different folder on the hard drive. These are not mdb or xls files so are not used by the app itself. All the user needs to do is find them manually loading them into MS Word for editing. I don't need to load MS Word from the app, but I do need to deploy them so the user has access to them. How do I edit the file path so it does not bury them in Common Files or the User App Data or app folder itself? Ideally, since these are rtf files they could go in My Documents. (The app itself will work whether or not these files exist elsewhere.)

Under VB.Net 2005, I created a Setup Project which produced installation files for a windows application. I placed the mdb file in the User's Application Data Folder and remapped the DataDirectory to Environment.SpecialFolder.ApplicationData at runtime. Unfortunately, sometimes the system just did create the mdb file at the Application Directory.
An example was that I installed the program in Windows 7 under a normal user account. I chose inside the installer that the program would be made available to everyone. After installation, the mdb file would be created automatically for the Administrator account but not for the normal user account. For XP, the whole thing worked fine. I am tempted to write a routine to check and create the mdb file if it is not present, but why does this happens and what other opinions do I have?
