I've run into another road block while programming my game. The problem is that when a player types North in room "Crash Site" They get the description of traveling to the next room "In Trail" as well as the description of traveling to the next room after that, "Deeper In Trail" before having to type north again. I've looked over the code several times, but can't find the problem....the conditions seem to be fine, but I'm guessing that's where the problem is..

I have created a hotel booking system programme. However, I am puzzled as to how when the booking button is clicked it can search a database and find the best suited room (RoomType) and make sure that it is available (Date of Departure < system.date).
This data is held in two tables (Access):
Booking:
BookingID (Primary Key)
CustomerID (Foreign Key, Table:Customer)
Date of Arrival (Date)
Date of Departure (Date)
RoomID (Foreign Key,Table:Room) Room:
RoomID (Primary Key)
RoomType (Text)
RoomPrice (Currency)
Floor (Number)
This has all got to be done within a single button click. Any ideas as to how I can place this into my vb code?

I'm doing an airline reservation system program, but I can't wrap my head around it. I can't even come up with psuedocode. The airplane has 10 seats. The user needs to choose first class(seats 1-5) or economy(seats 6-10), and I need to make sure that no seat is sold to more than one person. And if there are no more seat in the selected class I need to display a message box "there are no more seats in the selected class. Would you like to switch classes?" else display message " next flight leaves in three hours".

So the user can add categories, delete them and teh UI would accordingly add or remove controls automatically.I used DataGridView, but since the fetching and storing of data will not be done in a database, I need to fetch it and update it using an HTTP API, the data bindings are causing problems as I need to update, Insert or delete data using functions instead of letting VB do the hard work. I tried creating a datatable and checking for changes everytime user added/deleted/changed a row, but again the problem is: in a datatable I am not able select what type of control represents the column. For Example I have a parent category column where the control needs to be a combo box. The datatable's columns don't seem to provide an option and are automatically set to text box.I am thinking there is a really cool way of doing this that I am unaware of. all the VB.NET books I have read only seem to use DataGridView in conjunction with some sort of a database and not independantly.

This control then contains two other panels, one of which I would like to be an IContainerControl.I know how to turn the entire control into a IContainerControl but have been unable to do the same to a child control. I've tried in both C# and VB.Net and failed with both.

I am trying to write a program to control the speed of all my fan's (GPU,CPU, Case fans) I have my form set up now I just need to code it. I have a button that when used will detect the different fans and fill txt boxes with information for each fan but when I started looking for info on how to do this I found a lot of posts saying its not possible with Visual Basic. Is it possible or isn't it? Where would I find the info that would show me how to do this?
View 2 RepliesI'm making a text editor. I found that control-i automatically adds some sort of space block into the textbox by default; like how control-z undoes even if I don't code. I want to use control-i for making italics text; but the spaces are interfereing. It's one big block of spaces.

Visual Studio requires that designers use the first class in the file. Move the class code so that it is the first class in the file and try loading the designer again.

create a chat room? My current hosting is a linux server with mysql. I want to make a client that can connect to the database.(already done) and if the user exists, to open a chat form. I want this to be multithreaded, that way I can have up to 500 people chatting with each other at the same time, from different locations. (realistically will usually be around 50)I have found some winsock type examples, but I dont understand how I can adapt that to work with a linux server... Can anyone help give me examples? I guess I basically want an IRC.(Which I dont know how to implement.)

View 3 RepliesI am experimenting with CUSTOM CONTROLS for the very first time. What I did so far: I've created a new Windows Control Library project. In there I simply resized the custom control area (made it very wide and only 50 high). I added a pictureBox on the very left, a Label1 with Large text on the right and 2 other labels underneath Label1 on the left and right.Further I've set MOUSE HOVER effects, "Yellow" for MoudeEnter and "White" for MouseLeave.
In a Windows Form application I add this control over and over again into a Panel1 (DockStyle TOP) for each jpg file found in "My Pictures". The PictureBox in My custom control has the Thumbnail of the real picture, the Label1 shows the name of the file.
All this worked out better than I expected for my very first CUSTOM CONTROL, however, there is still 1 thing I would like it to do: being 'selected' when I click on one of the CUSTOM CONTROLS in my Panel1. Does anyone know how to do that? If I set a BackGroundColor change on MouseClick in my custom control, then it surely would change the color, however, it would stay that way even if I click on the next custom control in my Panel1 .(Listing SPEC's is not a review !

What's with the "public partial class Form1"? what does "partial" do? When i right-clicked on the InitializeComponent(), A portion of code appeared suddenly with the header #Region. What is this? and when re-open the Form1 in "View Code" mode, they're gone.
