View 3 RepliesI'm making a setup project for my application. I have a file, dbconnection.xml, that I want to be installed to C:Program filesmyAppdbconnection.xml regardless of where the user chooses to install the application. I've added the program files 'special folder' and have a subfolder, myApp, under that where I place this xml file.
For whatever reason, no matter where the user installs the application to, the XML file is placed in the install directory, not in c:program filesmyApp.
I'm trying to write a program which compares the difference between any date in the past and the system date, showing how many days have elapsed since that date. This is what I've got so far:
Code:
Public Class Form1
Private Sub TextBox2_TextChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
End Sub
[code]....
That's what it looks like so far. I was wondering how you can automate the top label so it automatically comes up with the date when the program is run.Plus, I need to know how to display the dates difference (how many days have elapsed between the system date and the user's chosen date) in the bottom label.
Alright, so what I'm looking to do is make a dock or some other thing that I can hide/show for programs. Kind of like a shortcut holder. how to approach the issue. I'm thinking maybe I could make a new button based on some settings in the VB thing, but that seems rather inconvenient. I was also wondering if anybody knew how to get the icons from shortcuts or the rest to use those as display pictures. "Victory is difficult to see beyond the devestation incurred in its pursuit."

These is formatted in a message format. Is it likely to become socket programming? how can I send and response data between servers?

I created a simple application that when a user logons onto their Windows account, the application pops up to display the computer usage agreement.آ The user at this time has the option of accepting it or declining it. If declined they are logged out of windows, and if they accept they can continue using windows. When I installed the application logged on as the administrator, it only installed in the administrator profile, thus not allowing the application to be run from startup under any other account except admin.آ My first question is, how can I install this application that is it accessible to all user accounts? The second question is how can I program the application to freeze windows until the user clicks the accept button, without puting a timer event that if the accept button is not clicked in a certain amount of time to log off the user.

Currently I can run it just fine on the PCs, I'm developing it on. But when I take it to another, that has the targeted framework, it crashes.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to compare the modify date of a file vs the current system date. I've found an MSDN article describing how to get the modify time of a file:
Dim infoReader As System.IO.FileInfo
infoReader = My.Computer.FileSystem.GetFileInfo("C: estfile.txt")
MsgBox("File was last modified on " & infoReader.LastWriteTime)
This gest the Date and Time, but I want just the Date not the time.
I'm trying to get datetime value but here is issue with nullable datetype.

Is there anyway you can send information back to the original creator of the program? Here is a quick example- I made a little program that gives you general information about your computer, when you click a button it sets the text box to specific information. One of the text boxes gives you the Version of your OS. I would like to know if there is a way to send the information in that text box back to me when someone clicks it and they are connected to the internet. FYI I would tell the person who clicks it before so that I am not stealing information, plus what is there to steal from a simple program I made.
