Writing A Program That Will Encrypt Text Using AES Encryption
Feb 14, 2009I need some help with writing a program that will encrypt text using AES encryption. I'm not quite sure how to go about doing this.

View 12 RepliesI am trying to encrypt a zip in VB.NET to send to an android device using Air. Then once its on the device, decrypt it using the key and IV.
Here is part of my VB.NET Code:
Private Sub EncryptBytes(ByVal fileIn As String, ByVal fileOut As String, ByVal pass As String, ByVal ivString As String)
Dim crypt As New RijndaelManaged
crypt.KeySize = 256

This is not working ... Note that I tried to write a PKCS7 class based on a Java class I found. The hurlant package I downloaded only had PKCS5. VB.NET did not provide any of the same padding classes as hurlant comes with. I wish I could using "None" but I couldn't get passed the error in VB.I think there may also be an issue with the way I am converting a string into a byte array in VB vs Air.
I need some help with encrypting a string. I want to encrypt a string using AES 256-bit encryption with a custom key. How can I go about doing this?
View 3 RepliesI'm designing a program to encrypt and decrypt files using TripleDes Encryption algorithms but am having issues decrypting an image file. The file encrypts in the correct manner, but when I go to decrypt the file and open as an image I get an error message. One example is when trying to open the file in paint a message appears stating 'c:New FolderDecrypted.jpg Paint cannot read this file. This is not a valid bitmap file, or its format is not currently supported. My coding for the form is shown below:

What I've decided to start working on is pretty much a personal project but something I may use in my UNI course in due time. I'm creating a security program with a set of access codes (yes I am a bit of a star trek fan) - 4 in total to be exact. I want to be able to use an Encrypted key file in form of a simple notepad created text file to update the codes at any due time. All I'm looking to do is write the access codes to the text file (say for a friend to use the program), Encrypt the file through the program and be able to also decrypt to obtain the new access codes on demand also via the same program. Once decrypted the codes can be read and verified if the user has entered each one correctly. I could hard code the access codes into the program but would rather do it the way I've thought of.
Back in the days of the old VB6 there was a simple method but for some reason that doesnt work any more. What I guess I'm looking to do is have 4 text fields where 4 digit access codes are typed into, have the program take them and encrypt each one is then written to the text file. Hoping that will make it a bit clearer what I'm trying to achieve as I think I made it sound like I want to encrypt the text file after the info has been written to it, which is of course one option so wouldn't mind know how to do that too!
I am trying and failing to make a text encryption and decryption program. How can I encrypt and decrypt text or text files?

View 1 RepliesWrite a program that requests a color as input in a text box and then determines whether or not the color is in the text file. The program should use the Boolean-valued Function procedure IsCrayola that returns the value True if the color in the text box is a Crayola color.

But when i click btnNextRecord it only displays data for last Employee and if i keep clicking it, it will keep displaying the same data for the same amount of employees i had entered data for.

i have started programming a diary sort of program. i have a home form which takes you to other features. im not sure if there is an easier way to do this but the view is week by week with a new week on a new form. and on each form i have a separate text box for each day. using the code:
'In the form load event:
txtMonday.Text = My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText("DayMonth.txt")
'In the text-changed & form closing event:
My.Computer.FileSystem.WriteAllText("DayMonth.txt",
Monday.Text, False)
I am making a program that loads, edits and saves 5000 rows x 100 columns of data. The data is stored in a datagridview. I use these commands to write the file:
dim z as integer
dim z1 as integer
fileopen(1,"c:drawermyfile.txt",openmode.output)
for z=0 to datagridview1.rows.count-1
[Code] .....
Every time I issue this command the whole program freezes until the computer is done writing the file. Is there some way I can get it to write this file without freezing up the program? Or, perhaps a better way to write this large data file?
How do I start writing a program that has 6 text boxes. A person would enter a member number if they have one, number of movies rented at $1.80 a piece. A Text box should then display Total Rental Price, and if a member number was entered, a 10% discount is given (the total of the discount shows up in another text box) and after there discount is applied the Amount Due is displayed in yet another Text Box.
My boxes are named:
memberNumberBox
moviesRentedBox
rentalPriceBox = $1.80
totalPriceBox
discountBox
amountDueBox
This is all supposed to happed when the customer clicks on a calculation button named: Button1
This is what I have so far, but I don't even know if this is correct, as I am getting 1 error relating to a name not being declared. Please help and clue me in to where to start!

Need to design a program that can encrypt and decrypt messages stored in simple text files using a private key stored in a separate file. Software should also be able to allow the users to enter simple messages that either displays the encrypted or decrypted message. The encryption method should use a simple substitution method. It should be set out in the following format:
Example (the "@" is the separator):
@
The character The Code End of line
A @ 4gh EOL
B @ 84!9 EOL
Has to use the 256 ASCII character codes. The separator will be used to separate the character and its corresponding code.Here are the pseudocodes I have come up with:
 Read any private key file
separator = readline(file);
while not EOF(file) do
tempStr = readline(file);

My idea is to have an input and an output text box. When the user presses a button the program will encode what is in the input text box and output it into the output text box.I also want to encrypt it with a secret key where the user enters a letter or set of letters into a separate text box which will effect the output. This process can be reversed to decrypt
View 4 RepliesI have been reading through Atheists posts in regards to client-server and TCP client/server connection's. But how do i go about writing a program with 1 client and server where the client side creates a text file.Once the server sees there is a text file it connects and downloads it to itself or the client pushes the text file to the server.Once on the server i will read the text file and put its info into a sql db.
View 14 RepliesI'm trying to do an encryption program that encrypts with AES256. I have searched for source codes, but I could not find proper result. Most of programs use Rijndael as algorithm, but I don't want using this class. I searched MSDN for AES classes, and I found AESCryptoServiceProvider, but I don't know how to use it.

What would be the best way of storing data securely away from users. What I have is a stack of files that get downloaded by the program, at the moment they COME encrypted, and stored in a temp location. Now where would be the be place to store them, and how would I store them? The program reads normal unencrypted files but in order for me to open them at the moment I nee to decrypt them in the temp folder and open them from there.This is bad because anyone could find the temp folder and simply copy out all the unencrypted files.Opening the files and then decrypting the bytearray is out of the question because the program only takes a filename as a option.

View 4 RepliesI am currently working on a simple data encryption program in VB 2008 express. Basically, I want the user to be able to select any file type and the program will read the data and store it in a text box. The user would then input a key, push the encrypt button and the program would XOR each byte of data with each character from the key and store the data in the third text box. I have written a program that has similar functionality only, it will not read from files, it simply reads data from a text box, so I have a encryption algorithm that works.Here is my

I was board making web browsers and OS so, I tried making an Encryption/Decryption program. I surfed the net and found a source code. But, after doing everything, I debug it, click the encrypt btn and nothing happens. I though the encrypting is a slow process. The thing is the process should be immediate cause I downloaded this web browser called 'Areo Pack'. It comes with a few other program and one of them in an Encryption/Decryption program. I tried it and it was done in a few seconds. I tried opening the encrypted file with notepad and I see a text file with Chinese, Japaneses, Korean, etc.

I'm trying to make a updater for my program at first i tried putting a password on the files folder then users can download the new zip file when its updated but when they first time install it wont have the password on it so i then decided not to use a password and am wondering how would i encrypt a line of code in the program? its the line that contains the database info so obviously i don't want my users to see that.
View 9 RepliesMy database is going to contain personal data. (such as contact details, names, password, etc...) This is what I need:
1) I need to encrypt the database
2) However, i will also need to be able to use it in my vb.net program.
To expand on my second point, i will need to be able to display the data (non-encrypted, obviously), and i will need to be able to compare user inputted data to the database data (like, i will be using datasets, so, IF txtUsername.text = ds.tables(0) ...)
