[2005] Pass Excel.Application Object To Shared-Addin By .Net?

Jan 22, 2009

I currently need to build a Automation Add-in for Excel. This add-in will load a recordset from Database to Excel. I would like to have function A() that I input in Cell as a formular. This function A() call a the add-in to load the data from Database to Excel. The data should be a matrix. So that means I would like to set in Excel worksheet a range of data by just calling single function in a cell. (I am sure there should be some way to implement it)As I know if I develop a shared Add-in by VB(or VB.Net) and in the add-in, I can get an Object of Excel.Application. By this Excel.Application object, I can get full control of Excel inside the Add-in. That means if I define a sub that load datamatrix from database and using the Excel.Application object I can populate the data matrix to the Excel.

I have done much research on internet and I now have built a shared Add-in for excel. I should say this add-in works fine without invoke the Excel.Application Object that I have tested. But when I call the Add-in function that invode Excel.Application Object from Excel I got an error as below:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Run-time error '2147467262'(*)
Unable to cast object of type 'System.String' to type Excel.Application

Excel AddIn - Keeping Windows Form Always Visible While Within Excel

Feb 29, 2012

I'm trying to upgrade an Excel VBA workbook to a VSTO Excel Add-in in VB.NET using VS 2010. In the original (i.e.- VBA) version I have a modeless UserForm (called frmMain) that floats on top and is visible at all times while the user is still within the Excel application, but is not visible if the user moves to another window outside of Excel.

For example, within Excel the user can click on any worksheet tab, select any cell, etc. and the UserForm is still visible. This is exactly how I'd like it. The problem is, that in the new VSTO add-in, I can not get the Windows form to mimic this same behavior. I use frmMain.Show() to show the form as a modeless form, but the moment the user clicks an Excel worksheet (i.e.- activates a worksheet) the form becomes hidden behind the worksheet.

Office Automation :: OnDisconnection Not Called At Excel Addin

Jan 24, 2011

I wrote a C# Excel automation addin (Excel 2010 64bit, VS 2010) to provide some additional user-defined-functions in Excel. Now, the addin works fine besides the fact that the two methods "OnDisconnection" and "OnBeginShutDown". are not called when I close Excel which is a problem for me. Also, while Excel seems to shut down properly, the instance is still running in the background after the excel-window has disappeared. So, apperently the problem is that Excel is not shut down properly.

Pass A Parameter Vs Using Shared Member?

Jun 30, 2011

Just asking for personal preferences, pros,cons on the following situation. I have a class(classA) that has some shared members in it. I have a procedure in a form that needs to execute a function in a separate class(classB). This function requires some of the shared member values from classA. I can either pass these values as parameters from the form to classB, or in classB I can just access them directly by referencing classA. As a general rule I've tended to try to use parameters to pass all the information a function needs but it starts to seem a little unwieldly when passing several parameters to multiple procedures.

Error: Reference To A Non-shared Member | Constructor; Pass Variable

Once he reached Item Details, a Child Form would pop-up for the User to select/search the Invoice's Item; Once selected, the selected item would showed in the primary Form.

What I had tried is, the Constructor method worked perfectly when it is self-contain in a new project, yet to be implement in my application.But when I implemented, there is an error: Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference.

VS 2005 Access Application Object Not Allowing OutputTo

Dim objAccess As New Access.Application

A similiar command Docmd.SendObject seems to work just fine, so I don't know why I am getting that error or how to fix it.

Use To Pass Excel Parameters To A User Defined Excel Formula?

Apr 5, 2011

With vb.net I would like to select 4 cells in Excel and then pass those cell values along with 1 button tag to a formula in Excel.I press a button with a month, say "May" as text. I want to grab a cell in Excel labeled "May1t" the value of which is the number of hours until may. This is the code I'm using.

xlsWB.Worksheets(2).Range(Month1 & "1t").Value I am able to set a variable with this as the value but,

I want to pass this cell (which will be updating as the time counts down) and 3 other similarly specified cells along with the button tag to an Excel formula.I have something like this:

Private Sub F_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles F.Click
xlsWB.Worksheets(4).Range("B2").Formula = "=MyFunction()"
xlsWB.Worksheets(1).Range(Month1 & "1t").Select()
End Sub

The formula takes the parameters in the order: MyFunction(Cell,Tag,Cell,Cell,Cell).

Does it matter if the objects are large or not?

Example:

Exporting To Excel 2007 From SQL Server 2000 From VB 2005 Application?

Jul 14, 2009

The CLR has been unable to transition from COM context 0x1b3008 to COM context 0x1b3178 for 60 seconds. The thread that owns the destination context/apartment is most likely either doing a non pumping wait or processing a very long running operation without pumping Windows messages. This situation generally has a negative performance impact and may even lead to the application becoming non responsive or memory usage accumulating continually over time.To avoid this problem, all single threaded apartment (STA) threads should use pumping wait primitives (such as CoWaitForMultipleHandles) and routinely pump messages during lonunning operations.

VS 2005 - Localization In Windows Application - Label Which Text Is Merged With Some Variables Or Object Properties

My problem is related to the label which text is merged with some variables or object properties.

E.g.: vb label1.text = "There are " & myDataGridView.Rows.Count.ToString() & " items"

So, how can I set (if it's possible) the localization for these labels? I've this kind of assignment in modules and not in the form. It's possible to set a resources file also for modules?
