VS 2005 Access Application Object Not Allowing OutputTo
Jun 9, 2009
For some reason I am not able to use DoCmd.OutputTo with my access object in VB.net 2005. I get the following error: 'OutputTo' is ambiguous because multiple kinds of members with this name exist in interface 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.DoCmd
I am referencing the Microsoft Access 12.0 Object Library and using Imports Microsoft.Office.Interop
Dim objAccess As New Access.Application
objAccess.OpenCurrentDatabase("C:Database.mdb", False)
objAccess.DoCmd.OutputTo(
A similiar command Docmd.SendObject seems to work just fine, so I don't know why I am getting that error or how to fix it.
I have a solution with several Projects in it. There is a Windows App project (called ImportClient), and a Class Library (Import.Library). The Import.Library has functions to perform data imports (I have other applications in the solution that also need to call it). But the interactive application, I want to be able to pass in some form controls, and have it update the GUI. No problem. But, I also want to execute a DoEvents() so that the loop execution doesn't hang other interaction to the app.
So, ImportClient has a reference to Import.Library. But I can't add a reference to ImportClient to the Import.Library, because the compiler complains about circular reference, etc. I don't know how else to define the My.Application object of ImportClient as a parameter to the data function in ImportLibrary.
(I realize this is a dumb question - problem is, for this project I have a tight timeline, and haven't learned how to do the BackgroundWorker process. If you think I could pick it up quickly, I'm open to some hints about how to update the progress bar on the GUI, and how to pause / cancel the background task.)
I have an application that has a main form and several sub forms, but it is not an mdi application. I am pulling data from various tables in an access database and loading into an dataset. In my module I have a sub that is processing the returned tables and is supposed to be setting controls values (radiobuttons and checkboxes checked values mainly) on the sub forms. The forms have not been called previously and when I do a .show() on them, the controls that were supposed to have been set are not, my question is why are they not setting?? Here is the code I am using to set my controls from the module:
If ds.Tables.Contains("FacilityReviewAnswers") = True _ AndAlso ds.Tables("FacilityReviewAnswers").Rows.Count > 0 Then For Each c As DataColumn In ds.Tables("FacilityReviewAnswers").Columns If c.ColumnName <> "SurveyID" Then
I am developing desktop search engine. For that i am maintaining indexed database with file name and their path. The indexed database is created at once by scanning all hard disk. This indexed database is further updated when user creates, deletes or renames file. The updation task is carried out by an windows service application and for searching files on hard disk I have created another windows aplication. The problem is that when windows service is updating database, windows application can not read database. It gives error 'Cannot open user default database. Login failed.Login failed for user 'WINXPSwapni'.
For school i have made an application in VB (Express 2010, .net v4) and when i try to run it at school it says that the .net framework needs to be updated.
IS there anyway of not updating the framework but still allowing the application to run?
I use a fontdialog box in my application allowing users to change the font details within my application. This works fine but unfortunatly I don't seem to be able to set the values in the dialogbox as they are read only.
Basically if the user has Bold Wingdings set and wishes to change it to something else then when they open up the fontdialog box I would like to be able to set the font to wingdings and bold so the user can see what they previously selected. Word seems to do this so why cant I?
I am using the following command "DoCmd.Outputto acOutputReport, Report Name, acFormatPDF, FileName".The report I am using legal as the page size. When the PDF is created in is created using letter size pages and the buttom of each page is cut off. I would like to find out why this is happening.Bob Gouveia
I currently need to build a Automation Add-in for Excel. This add-in will load a recordset from Database to Excel. I would like to have function A() that I input in Cell as a formular. This function A() call a the add-in to load the data from Database to Excel. The data should be a matrix. So that means I would like to set in Excel worksheet a range of data by just calling single function in a cell. (I am sure there should be some way to implement it)As I know if I develop a shared Add-in by VB(or VB.Net) and in the add-in, I can get an Object of Excel.Application. By this Excel.Application object, I can get full control of Excel inside the Add-in. That means if I define a sub that load datamatrix from database and using the Excel.Application object I can populate the data matrix to the Excel.
I have done much research on internet and I now have built a shared Add-in for excel. I should say this add-in works fine without invoke the Excel.Application Object that I have tested. But when I call the Add-in function that invode Excel.Application Object from Excel I got an error as below:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Run-time error '2147467262'(*) Unable to cast object of type 'System.String' to type Excel.Application
I've a problem with an application i have to use at work. That application is in .net (created by my company). The application call some object that are .exe file. When i try to open it i received the following error:
cannot access a disposed object
I know that it's not really revelant but i've got that problem on my pc and my collegue that use the same application doesn't received that error.I've already check their configuration and i've the same than us. I supposed there are some problems of compatibilty with the framework or thing like that.
Stacktrace ************** Exception Text ************** System.ObjectDisposedException: Cannot access a disposed object named "Form". Object name: "Form".
i have created an application that uses an Access Database. Each time the application closes i tell it to repair and compact the database. The problem is that because the database is stored in the program filesapplication_name folder it requires administrator rights because of UAC. What should i do ? Should i store the database somewhere else where no adminstrator rights are required ?
So, how can I set (if it's possible) the localization for these labels? I've this kind of assignment in modules and not in the form. It's possible to set a resources file also for modules?
Is there a need to explicitly close the connection in this Microsoft Data Access Application Block for .NET? i am encountering timeout expired pooling errors in the sql server 2000. I am wondering if the unclosed connection is the problem
My problem is when i try to call Application.Run() in a application without a form i get "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." when i run it outside VS. but if ran in debug or release mode it works just fine. i may just be forgetting to setup application right, but ive done it before in this same manor and it worked fine.
Commented out init_timer and init_ready, and now it causes the same error for the myName line. there seems to be something wrong with class Application. btw theres seems to be something wrong with the forum code formatting.
I just wondered if you can or can't save arrays using the settings system object. There seems to be no way of entering it at designtime. It seems implied you cannot create new user settings.subobjects at runtime. I'm looking to find the easiest way to save a populated array of PictureBox's. If the only way is a self/custom made/managed .ini file then I need to know so i can start on that but I was hoping to use some of all this phaff in the new frameworks usefully.
Occasionally I encountered this exception message while trying to download file from a server using System.Net.FtpWebRequest and System.Net.FtpWebResponse Object.
Download a file.ftpRequest_DL.Method = WebRequestMethods.Ftp.DownloadFile get the response object Dim ftpResponse_DL As FtpWebResponse = CType(ftpRequest_DL.GetResponse, FtpWebResponse)
I was create Access database with Access 2003. I create VB project with Visual Studio 2005 Standard With connection wizzard I create coonect with this Access database, select all tablesI see this database inside Data sources and inside Server explorer Test connection is OK When I drag and drop table from Data sources, Wizzard don't create DataGridView, DataSourceBinding etc .. and I see popup window with mesage: Object reference not set to an instance of an object and then "game over"

I have an application that has an Ms Access 2007 DataBase which runns great if access is installed. Is there any code that I can use in vb that I would be able to run access with out installing it.
i trying to do login form, if user & password correct, then will show Main Form. First time login is no problem at all, after closed the Main Form, it will back to login form. Problem come when i try to relogin again & show "Object Reference not set to an instance of an object" when try to access the database. Attach my code here:
For some reason, on the line where I try to set the value of the key, I get the following error:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object
vb Private Sub writeToKey(ByVal regValue As String) Dim regkey As RegistryKey = Registry.CurrentUser.OpenSubKey("SoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWindowsDevice") regkey.SetValue("Device", regValue, RegistryValueKind.String) 'error occurs here regkey.Close() End Sub
I am making an application that takes information from the textboxes and saves it to a sequential access file or text file named checkfile.txt. I have the textfile in the proper location within the project folder.
I am getting an error stating Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
I'm trying to re-write an old VB 6 OCX into a VB.net DLL and I'm having problems accessing the object returned from a COM object. Here is a snippet of the old VB 6 code: Dim objResult as Object
i created a DatagridViewNumericUpDownColumn but i got error message Cannot access a disposed object. Object name: 'NumericUpDown' when i closed and reopen the form. what can i do to solve this problems? i checked from the web & i found the answer, but i I couldn't get authorized to view this thread. When i clicked on the link[URL]..It shown You are not authorized to perform this action.
quite new to database queries through VB. I have just created a DB using MS Access and I need to write data to it from my VB Application. Can anyone point me on which objects should I use to execute these write transactions?
I am attempting to figure out why this code is not working in VB2005.I am trying to run a check on a set of 25 buttons in a 5 by 5 square. they are label "cmd" & X & "x" & Y whereas X and Y are the x,y coordinates.cmd1x1 through cmd5x5 I am trying for this code to set varMapBefore() to either 0(for D) or 1 (for L) for each of the buttons cmd1x1 through cmd5x5 and then join them together at the end for an output.but varMap wont act like an object. What am I doing wrong?
Private Sub cmdStart_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdStart.Click Dim varMap(0 To 24) As Object, varMapBefore(0 To 24) As String, varMapAfter(0 To 24) As String, varCheck As String Dim varCount As Integer, varX As Integer, varY As Integer varCount = 0
If I created a new instance of an object, is it possible to call that object's functions without knowing the name of that object that I initialized it to? Perhaps there is another way to access this object without using the name? Also, is it possible to create a property in a class which allows you to use that property to access an object of that class? For example, a textbox control has a (Name) property which allows you to use that name to access the textbox but that might be a special case because it is a textbox.
I have a program in VB.NET 2005. At some point I have to open an Access2003-Application for getting data in it. I do that by pretending my program is a human user and let it do all the work in Access as a human user would do. Filling Fields, pressing buttons etc. I use the Primary Interop Assemblies for that. So far so good. That code is in use for over half a year now. In the last week I got Office 2007 installed on my machine. Of course I tested the installed version of my program if everthing still works. Every test was succesfull. But if I do the same tests in Visual Studio it always crashes.
All I get is this Errormessage: {"Das COM-Objekt des Typs "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.FormClass" kann nicht in den Schnittstellentyp "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access._Form3" umgewandelt werden. Dieser Vorgang konnte nicht durchgefhrt werden, da der QueryInterface-Aufruf an die COM-Komponente fr die Schnittstelle mit der IID "{66B22FB4-F70E-4F03-A00A-F76E9ADBBF10}" aufgrund des folgenden Fehlers nicht durchgefhrt werden konnte: Schnittstelle nicht untersttzt (Ausnahme von HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE))."}
For all who can't read german:
"Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.FormClass" can't be converted in to "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access._Form3" ... Interface is not supported.
Code I use:
Dim access As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.Application = Nothing . . . access = New Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.Application()
[CODE]...
The Error occurs when I try to access any property of "access.Forms("frmTest")"
I have two Access database, say database One.mdb and Two.mdb. I want to use VB2005 to export tblCustomer from One.mdb to Two.mdb, and replace the existing tblCustomer in Two.mdb, during run time. I basically want to simulate the export function that is available in MS Access (which can export one table from one Access database to another) with VB2005 during run time. I can think of a way by querying the table to a dataset and then delete everything on the other database before filling the table in that database with the dataset. However, there should be something simpler and faster than that, shouldn't it? Any idea?
