I am looking for a way to extract information from a website.That is, by using VB to connect to a site, and retrieve the html code. I then parse it this way.To be more precise, the site is eBay,and I am looking to get certain item information from certain items.I read somewhere that somebody converted it to XML maybe? MSXML was used.

i made a media player program and i am having many problems! the main issue is that i have a listview that displays music playlist, how can i get it to navigate to the next item after the clicked one is over that way users don't have to click on the next one to continue their playlist?

1) I have a stored procedure that retrieves item information from a SQL Express database. Should I attempt to do the rounding the stored proc or client side in the app?
2) My rounding needs to be custom. I have a figure that goes down to the 4 place meaing x.0000 if the 3rd digit is 4 or more then I would round up to the nearest cent x.00 if it is 3 and below I would round down. I have looked at the math functions in vb.net and I dont see right out the gate how to accomplish this.
So my question is should rounding be done in SQL or client side and if it is client side do any of you have pointers on how to slice and dice this?
I'm trying to load up a comma delimited text file and have only the name of a person loaded into a listbox. Then when the user selects a person from the listbox have additional stats pertaining to that person show up in a label.

View 2 RepliesI have a list of names in a database and what i want is to get all of these names and display them in a label or a text box to the user on the website. I have tried to do this using a for loop but it is always overwriting the label each time. I have a list of 10 different names in the database and what it is doing is putting the first name in the label and then overwriting this with the second name and so on until it reaches the last name. I think i need to store each of the names from the database into an array or an arrayList and then make the label display all of the contents from the array or arrayList. The for loop i have used for this is:

I am not sure what I am doing with this and need some direction. I have attempted to create a stored procedure in SQL Server 2005 called proc_GetPrefixes with the following content

Several times av been come across of the need of how to create new variables on my application while is running and the next time i will run again the application to be existed in my source code and still be inside.
what excatly i mean is for example i have a listbox with out assigne it in any databound ,or retreive any items from any textbox i just want to insert some items inside
if i go from the designer then i can succesfully add any item i want and they will be there as i declare them.but if i want to to that programmatically i will be able to add them in the listbox but the next time i will run it again it will be lost.until i will select the command again to fill my listbox which is not what i want
in my case i have a datagridview which is running SQL querys and i want if the user selects to save this query i want from some way to save this query string in my listbox . and i want to be there the next time i will run my application with out using any text file or database,

I have a table being imported into my VB application that has 3 columns. I have written code to import the table, and have written code to display on the first column (country) in a list view.What I want to do now is have the user select / highlight an item in the list view, and have the third column (currency) related to that selected country appear in a text box when a button is clicked.Here's the code I've written that successfully imports the data and displays the first column:

Ok what I have is a combo box with a set of default items but i want the user to be able add new items to the combo box's item list. i currently have a text box and a command button for the user to use to add new items to the list with this code attached

when the program is closed the item is no longer in the combo box items list.
so what i would like to know is the correct code to make the additions to the combo box's items list permanent or at least until the user chooses to remove them.
i recently add two combo boxes in my form. the first combo box contains the categories of movies. and the other one is the list of movies sorted according to the category of movie. i just wondering how i could i add and view movies for the second combo box, when i click one of the category of movie.

I am currently using microsoft access 2007 and vb.net 2008. The problem senario is this: I have a database-table that contains two columns, items, and the price of each item. I tried to drag this table to the form as a checkbox tool, but only one checkbox1 was diplayed. The table consists of four rows. My requirement is when I drag the checkbox I want to see the all items in the first column, i.e. four checkboxes that hold the same name as in the table in the database, and when I check one or more items to be able to use, in somehow, the price(s) to make some kind of calculations.

On another form I have a list box that contains a list of the subjects, and another list box that has the coordinator that teaches the subject. The positions match up, i.e if there is a match for the co-ordinator ID in the list box at position 3, I want to extract the subject list box at position 3 also. The problem is 1 coordinator can teach more than 1 subject. Basically I want to show the subjects taught by the Coordinator the user selects in the combo box. I'm a computer science student and I have a project to do where I need to have VB connected to a webcam to take captures of items and then save them according to the item name that stores them into either a dbase or access database. I have knowledge of oledb using vb to retrieve and modify access databse so it might be better to head in that direction, but I have no clue how to get the webcam talking to vb and see the live feed from the cam until you take a picture and save.

When I debug the code is VS2008 I can see each time that the list.add is performed every other item in the list being changed to the one just added. Here is the code I running. I have my program set up to read the contents of a Directory, and then populate a drop down menu with the names of the files in the directory. (I am using the MenuStrip). Inside my program, it is also set up to create a new file in that directory, and I wish to add this item to the dropdown menu upon creation. The list is entirely created and populated from the code, and the contents of the list depend entirely on what's in the directory.
I have tried using MenuStrip.Items.Remove(menuItem1). Now, when this command gets executed, it does remove the top level Menu, however when I go to repopulate the menu, I end up with duplicates of my files listed in the drop down. I am stuck with how to clear these out as well?

How would one go about checking a listbox's items for duplicates? Basically I need to write a program that displays the teams from a text file provided by my instructor, in alphabetical order. I can do that, but what I can't figure out is how to prevent the For loop from adding a duplicate team. What I'm envisioning is:

I have a program that compiles and works so far, except for the above problem and my alphabetical order (which I can probably figure out on my own:

This works except that my listbox is filled with the team every player is in rather than just listing all possible teams. Not exactly looking for someone to just give me the answer, as I understand things best when figuring them out on my own, so I suppose a hint is what I'm really after.
