The table is set up with primary field as Identity (It auto generates the number
in column(0)- "DoorID")

What is the primary key value of the row I just added? I have another table with Col(1) as "DoorID" and Col(2) as "KeyID" I need to know what the ID numbers are so I can fill this table next.
Returning Index Value Not Row Number?
Mar 30, 2011I have having problems with the code listed below. I'm trying to re-call the name of a product from a table when I know the productID which is the primary key but i'm getting court up as the primary keys do not match thier row numbers e.g. product with an id of 10 may be on row 2 so when I run my program i get the product name of the product on row 10 not on row 2. The database I'm using is microsoft trial database NorthWind. The rest of the code calculates the number, value and sum of the order.

This works fine except for one thing! after I click OK to the msgbox prompt, the record highlights normally and I click on the next record, and I get an Argument out of range exception error message, where I expected to just get another message with the next record number.

Now when I replace the Rows(index) with a Rows(6) I get the results that I want. When I run the code below the index comes out as 75 which displays the first row from the dataset which is a completely different set of results.

Sep 7, 2009I have been working on recoding a VB6 client/server application of mine and have run into a bit of an issue with storing the players location on the tile map which means I will need to rework the way I am storing the user connections. In my VB6 application I would store the user's numeric index/socket number/whatever you'd like to call it as the Key, however, in VB 2008 I can't seem to find where, or if, the numeric index is stored. If this isn't possible then does anyone have an example of how they store user connections using some numeric index as the key of a hashtable?

Mar 24, 2010I need to find a method of looping through a listbox and retrieving the index number and values - quite straightforward in asp, but turning out to be something of a nightmare in winforms!Here is the scenario - The user can add values in a textbox, that are in turn added to a DataTable that gives it a unique ID and a row number, this is then bound to the listbox. The user can then move the items up or down the list by adjusting the row number in the datatable and rebinding to the listbox..
The problem that I am hitting is when the user needs to delete an item -the first part is easy - delete from the DataTable and rebind to the listbox. The bit where I hit the proverbial brick wall is needing to loop through the listbox rows and getting both the index number and the ValueMember - that way I can change the row numbers in the DataTable based on the index number against the ID number.

Mar 5, 2009I've got the web browser with tabs in all working fine, but there's one bug, i can add tabs, delete em, etc.. but when i delete a tab then go to create a new tab, it gives me the error: InvalidArgument=Value of '6' is not valid for 'index'. Comparing Array Index To Combo Box Index?
Nov 14, 2010I am coding a program for a movie trivia game that randomly shows a movie quote and the the user selects a movie name from a combo box that matches. I used a array for the movie quotes and a comboBox for the movie names. I have coded a portion of the program but I am stuck on how to compare the array quote being shown to what movie the user selects from the comboBox. I have tried numerous different things but none seem to work right. The way I have it coded now it shows that every movie I pick that it is right even if it is wrong.
