I have created a project in VB.net and its working fine in my machine. But when I provide the exe to my senior to test it shows the initialization error.I came to know the reason that the error is because the microsoft .net framework is not updated in my seniors machine....So there can be a possibility that the framework might not be updated on the client's machine as well.... when the user clicks on the exe file it should check that the microsoft framework is present and updated if not then the exe file should first prompt the user that the microsoft framework is needed and should be updated and start the installation....
My nightmare had been back again ".NET Framework Initialization Error "I make a program in basic language but when I want to run the program out of visual studio IDE this Error appears for me : the title : " .NET Framework Initialization Error" the body : "Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application."
When I want to run several programs out of visual studio IDE the program couldn't be run and this message appear for me and say ("Unable to find a version of the runtime to to run this application")I am using visual studio 2005 .net My program is made by basic language. What am i do to fix this error??
I am experiencing some trouble with the autogenerated initializecomponent function. Visual Studio insists on initializing a variable like the following, when I drag a usercontrol onto a form:
Dim HierarchyTreeNode1 As NewDelfiLib.HierarchyTreeNode = CType(New System.Windows.Forms.TreeNode(""), ND.HierarchyTreeNode)
on installing a application which was packaged through inno setup on a windows xp machine X84 i am getting error as .net intialization error
what i made was while on try i had uninstalled the .net framework 2.0,3.0 and 3.5 and 4.0 and reinstalled frame work 3.5 and 4.0 + restarted the system and also i have tried to repair the frame work installation but no good results
I am getting "Initialization of the dynamic link library c:WINNTsystem32COMCTL32.dll failed. The process is terminating abnormally" when I tried to install a vb package in Windows NT.
For class, I made a screen saver in Visual Studio 2010 but when Windows tries to run it I get the following error: .Net Framework initialization ErrorUnable to find a version of the runtime to run this application. I Copied and pasted the .exe into the Windows/System32 folder and changed the extension to .src. I've tried reinstalling .Net but I still get the same error
All my application does is downloading files and doing string manipulation. I don't think I need .NET 4.0 for that. I changed the framework to 2.0, so more people can use my application without having to install a newer version.[code]...
when I want to install the VB.net from that CD, I can't. it said I should to install framework from the internet. I have install the framework, but when I want to install the VB.net, it still said that i should install the framework. actually,i want to install this VB.net because i want to learn about this compiler more.
I've been working on a new application and realised that I want the target framework to be 3.5 (4.0 isn't rolled out yet). So, I changed it and now when I try and debug I get the following error: "An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is: Unable to cast object of type 'System.Windows.Forms.SplitContainer' to type 'System.ComponentModel.ISupportInitialize'." I really don't want to have to delete and recreate the splitContainer....
I'm receiving an error when trying to query a range of dates from a MS SQL DB in MVC Entity Framework. Unable to cast the type 'System.Boolean' to type 'System.Data.SqlTypes.SqlBoolean'. LINQ to Entities only supports casting Entity Data Model primitive types. This is our query:
I'm fairly new to the MS Sync framework and have been beating my head against the wall for about four hours now to no avail. I'm simply trying to sync my databases (one "master" SQL Server 2008 with a SQL Server CE, the client) with:
Dim syncAgent As DataCacheSyncAgent = New DataCacheSyncAgent() Dim syncStats As Microsoft.Synchronization.Data.SyncStatistics = syncAgent.Synchronize()
It works just fine in Visual Studio 2010 and always manages to sync, but now that I'm trying to implement it on my client's computers, I always get the error:
The specified change tracking operation is not supported. To carry out this operation on the table, disable the change tracking on the table, and enable the change tracking.
Actually this application will run on window start up. what i try to do is to delete the file for certain date. I ask the program to delete file if set date equal to now system date... i also ask the program to check if the file is exist or not. If the file is exists. the program run properly but if the file not exists then on windows start up. .NET framework unhandle problem come out [Code]
...until an indeterminate amount of time passes and I get "The ProviderManifestToken '5' is different from '5.1' that was encountered earlier" error. Why is it encountering a '5' to begin with when I've only specified '5.1'?!!?The only way to get the error to stop is to reupload to edmx file (which has not changed at all), overwriting the previous one. At that point the application will happily chug along serving data to users until BAM the error occurs maybe a few hours later, sometimes days later and I'll have to start chasing my tail again.I've tried changing the ProviderManifestToken="5.1" to "MySQL", "6", "5" and the same situation will occur: works for a while then the error. As a bonus I only have this ONE edmx file in the vb.net webforms application so what is it getting confused bythe first few lines of my edmx file looks like:
My Application as you may remember ONLY runs from the CD and is never installed onto a computer. It is a Product Support CD. All Information that a customer may need is on this CD, they can Download PDF's and Drawings and even save some Software Apps that may be needed onto the user's Hard Drive, but the CD App running is never installed onto a computer.
I never got into detailed error processing too much when I played in VBA/VB6 a lot. Mostly then, if you ran into a user error (such as some input of theirs failing a validation test of some kind), you popped a MsgBox() with some error information and the critical (or warning) icon, and safely aborted out of the code
In .NET, my reading basically points to exceptions as the end-all in error handling. It looks to me that if you know a spot of code where a user can screw up, you're supposed to catch it with either try...catch blocks (for things like data conversions), or standard if...the...else constructs for other things, and then throw a new exception if needed.
Isn't throwing an exception essentially a forced crash of a program in a sense (granted, you get the option of continuing)? Or are exceptions geared specifically for things like data conversion errors and other "things that shouldn't happen", and resume use of MsgBox() and friends for minor user screwups?
Consider the case of where you have a TextBox that is only supposed to accept numeric data (or heck, just a specific set of characters). Barring some other trick that lets you restrict that field (let's just assume it's freeform, programatically), it would seem a bit of a waste to throw new exceptions everytime they type in an invalid character, or even if the error checking doesn't happen until they press a submit button (like on a webpage). Popping a MsgBox() seems more sane in that case.
So what's the straight dope on exceptions and throwing new ones on user errors? How about if your program also exposes a programmatic framework? Bad usage of one of the programmatic functions definitely seems like new exception territory to me.
I made a program a month ago and i gave it to the customers.recently they report some bugs and i fixed them. when i send the new version installer to them, they have some problems running it.i used vs 2008 to write it, but i removed vs 2008 and installed vs 2010 last week. when i opened my project to start fixing program bugs it asked for convert wizard so i did it.i made changes and build it. i use installshield and i add framework 3.5 Sp1 as prerequisites. note : i was using inno setup first time. so i changed the installer too.so i tried installing the program on my machine.i just noticed that i have only .net framework 4 installed my own system. so i have no idea how the program runs without any problems on my own system. i have even tried installing it on another machine who had framework 3.5. it it work on that too.the error shown on customers machines is related to framework version. everytime i send them a new version they have some problem installing/running it.
I am trying to write a VB .NET (2008) DLL. When the DLL loads, I would like to perform an initialization task. Trouble is, I don't know how to do this. If I were writing this in C++, I would put the necessary code in DllMain, and all would be well. Is there any similar mechanism to DllMain in VB .NET? Or is there another way to do this?
I am work on VB.net 2003 Framework 1.1 for last 3.5 years in windows Application. We are currently migrating to VB.net 2008 framework 3.5, but i don't know about the features which related to ADO.net and which is important to performance. I know linq to SQL but our architecture is made in .net 2003 so we should follow this.Any features which is very important to enhance the performance?
I need to do a dynamically loaded Header and Footer on Master page where there are two placeholders to store the users controls which will become the Headers and Footers. The reason why I am doing it to make it more customizable and it is the how it is required from my supervisor as well.So I have two key-value in web.config such as <add key="MasterHeader" key="~/Controls/Header.ascx"/> <add key=" Master Footer" key="~/Controls/Footer.ascx"/>So I am wondering which Page event should I load these users controls by saying
[code]...
Where is the best Page event to put the codes above?Do I need to put something in the page directive to make it work?
