Avoiding Microsoft Excel Prompt - User Is Getting Two Prompts

I'm writing the following bits of code for a SaveFile Dialog box in Visual Basic 2010.NET. The code works well as the XLSX file is created and opens in Microsoft Excel. However, the problem that I am having is that if the program overwrites a file, the user is getting two prompts. One prompt is from the program's own SaveFile dialog confirming the choice. The other is from Microsoft Excel asking you the same. It's as if the program is running in the background. Does anyone know how I can write this code to save the file as an Excel file? [Code]

I have been doing a lot of reading on this topic and most folks seem to agree that having Excel is required to use the COM Interop libraries. However they are never specific as to where that should be installed. Does it need to be installed on the machine I am developing on or does it need to be on every machine that I deploy to?
Edit: I should mention that this is desktop development/deployment targeted for all Windows machines.

I'm trying to create a program that does the following:Executes the following command line string (wmic /node:computername bios get serialnumber)Prompts user for the "node" entry Displays the resulting serial number in a dialog box I'm a bit of a noob at this (I haven't coded anything in VB since early 2000s) so I'm at a bit of a loss where to start. I plan on including some functions to submit the node entry and the resulting serial number to a database in the future for archiving as well.

I have to create an application that prompts the user to enter today's sales for five stores. The program should then display a simple bar graph comparing each store's sales. Create each bar in the bar graph by displaying a row of asterisks (*) in a list box. Each asterisk in a bar represents $100 in sales. I have to make two different versions of this program. One using a "do while ... loop" and the other using a "for ... next loop". Could someone give me a hint on how to do this. I the "do while ... loop" version and I have had some problems, especially with converting the numbers to asterisks.

this is my first vb. and i have assignment and i have been trying for hours but i couldn't do it right I have to create an application that prompts the user to enter today's sales for five stores. Create a loop to prompt for an amount for the first store using an inputbox and do not exit until you have good data. The inputs cannot be negative or greater than 5000, but may contain decimal values. The program should then display a simple bar graph corresponding to the amount of sales using a row of asterisks (*) in a listbox. Each asterisk represents $100 in sales. Display the total of all the stores by looping this process for each store.

I'm trying to upgrade a VB6 app to VB 2008. I have read the article in the tutors corner about automating Excel from VB but I cannot get it to work. Heres what I have done:
1) set a reference to the Microsoft Excel 12.0 Object Library
2) Added "Imports Excel = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel" to the top of the module
3) in a routine I have added: Dim X As New Excel.Application Here's where I get an error: Error 75 'Application' is ambiguous in the namespace 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel'.

Basically I've coded an Excel 2007 project in VB.NET 2010 that allows you to create charts with a fair amount of interactivity. I want the user to be able to save and reopen this workbook and still have that interactivity in any already-created charts, so they don't have to re-create them.
When I create the charts, I use Sheet1.Controls.AddChart(...), which returns a Microsoft.Office.Tools.Excel.Chart with which I can handle events and such. However, when I reopen the file and look through the Sheet1.Controls collection, there are no Chart objects. Accessing the charts through Sheet1.ChartObjects.Chart gives me Interop Charts, when I need the Tools Charts.

I'm using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel in VB.Net in order to export an .xls file as a .pdf file. This was the only method I could find without relying on third party software to be installed on the running machine or using an expensive add-on to Visual Studio. This method requires opening excel and saving a file through the code.
My problem is that I only have a trial version of Microsoft office as I never actually use it. Well the limitation of times I can open it is up as I have run the program enough times for debugging purposes and now I can't continue development on this application. Is there a development kit for visual studio that provides the API I need for this functionality without actually having Office installed? I don't need Microsoft Office so I don't want to have to buy a full version just to develop and test an application.
I've looked at some options like this, but there is very specific formatting that needs to remain intact in the .xls for the conversion to .pdf that doesn't seem to work if I use an intermediary format. I've also read a little bit about the openOffice API, but is that compatible with .Net? If so, can someone point me to a tutorial that explains how to use the API with .Net? Specifically VB if possible, but I can work with C# code.

I'd like for my application to prompt for user credentials as soon as it starts. The reason for this being that it is an app for our IT Helpdesk that will be run on user's machines, and I need to make sure it is always run with administrator credentials.
Is there a simple way to get the program to prompt for credentials on execution?

I'm trying to use the ExceptionMessageBox to prompt a user that a field is required. I'm getting a syntax error saying "Type 'ExceptionMessageBox' is not defined". I added the ExceptionMessageBox as a reference, but still has that same error. I'm using Visual Web Developer 2008 Express.

I'm trying to figure out how to prompt a user to enter a captcha. Some programs out there have a little popup with the captcha image and a textbox, the user then enters the characters from the image and the captcha is solved by the user of the application. When I try to request the image directly, it gives me a different image than the one currently in the webbrowser control. Any ideas how I can create the pop up of this captcha image for the user to enter?

i have 4 text box how can i display a messagebox that will prompt the user if theres any duplicate text on the four Textbox. I know how to add an exit button with a prompt. However, I do not have the slightest cluse as to how I can add this same functionality to the window so that if the user clicks the X in the upper right corner, there is a prompt message confirming the user needs to exit.I added a form closing event but getting wrong results, the form closes if I click no and message window does not leave when I click yes to stay.

Is there any way to use a VB form to supply user credentials to the Runas command in command prompt? I basically need something exactly the same as the GUI for RunAs but just for Internet Explorer (yes I know you can right click and go RunAs but that cant be done in this case). So the user would open this VB form, type their username and password in, hit OK and it would open Internet Explorer with their credentials (they log in under a generic account used by many people).

I'm writing a small application to detect the insertion of USB memory sticks and prompt the user to accept the device or reject it. Rejecting it would prevent its being loaded by Windows. I have the code that detects insertion & removal working fine but have no idea how to cancel the insertion.I was thinking that I could intercept the DEVICEARRIVAL message and kill it off before its actioned by Windows but I am lost with this.code to show the way.Heres the main part of the code I have so far-

It's probably the most basic of things, but all I can find is how to launch a program, and not with the interactions I desire. Any tips as to the terms to use to search for answers, or links to topics regarding questions similar to mine, would be very appreciated. I have a wealth of info to read through, but I could use your knowledge to save myself time.Here is what I am trying to do:
Use a Button (A) to Launch a Prompt where User Selects Directory Path to an executable Program.
