IDE :: Maximum Number Of Warnings Has Been Exceeded?

Jan 23, 2006

I'm using VS 2005, after VB6 to VB.NET conversion we have fixed all the errors but still have unidentified number of warnings. Is there any way to increase this limit of 101 warning you can see after compiling? I want to actually see the total number of warnings to get an idea how much work is there.

HttpRequest Maximum Length Exceeded In ASP.net

May 18, 2010

I'm trying to fix an issue with an application I'm supporting (I didn't write the code). The code takes an SSRS report and renders it in pdf format. Users are sporadically getting the error indicated in the title. There is no rhyme or reason to when the error is generated (a particular report will run one time and throw the error the next).[code]

I read that the default length limit is 4MB. None of the reports by themselves are even over 350K. I'm wondering if this could be caused by a caching issue. I'm not an expert, so I need some guidance as to how best to solve the problem. I also want to understand why the issue is happening. Please note that only 2 reports are shown in the snippet - there are about 30+ reports in the full sub. I tried the proposed solution, but it didn't help (I also tried the Fiddler route, but did not see anything glaring). I thought it might be best to clarify. The reports will run fine for a while, but the execution time gradually gets slower and slower until the application eventually displays the error.

One Set A Maximum On Number Of Character A Textbox Can Use?

May 14, 2011

My issue is that some websites only allow say 15 characters maximum to be used to create a user name where other sites do not. Currently I have one text box on the screen and a button, and a web browser that navigates to two sites.Site #1 has a cap of 15 characters max to create a user nameSite #2 doesn't have any maximum amount of characters to use.I am wanting to know how I can enter lets say a 20 character username into the text box and have the code set a max of 15 characters for site one and nothing for site 2. I was thinking that this could be done when passing the information from the text box to the text box on the screen with something like

Textbox1.Text.value.length= maximum 15
Site #2:
Textbox1.Text

How many times will it execute the code before it quits? Is there some way to set the maximum number of executions without terminating it programmatically?

.net - Implement A List(Of) With A Maximum Number Of Items?

Nov 14, 2011

I'm trying to figure out a good way of implementing a List(Of) that holds a maximum number of records.

I have a List(Of Int32) - it's being populated every 2 seconds with a new Int32 item.

I want to store only the most current 2000 items. How can I make the list hold a maximum of 2000 items, then when the 2001'th item is attempted to be added, the List drops the 2000'th item (resulting in the current total being 1999).

Thing is, I need to make sure I'm dropping only the oldest item and adding a new item into the List.

Forms :: Maximum Row Number In Multiline Textbox

Apr 21, 2010

i am trying to put a maximum row number of lines in a multiline textbox. What i want is to achieve something like a console, with a maximum number of rows, with the top rows to dissappear and to keep always the last i.e. 500 rows. a note: for the textbox text i use the following algorithm

dim text
textbox.text = textbox.text & vbcrlf & text

the problem is that after a certain number of rows the program starts to get a little slow. So i guess if i put a limit to the rows i will fix this.

When I Hit The "Save" Button, It Crashes And Says That The Column "Serial Number" Has Exceeded The MaxLength?

Oct 10, 2011

I've made a program that basically keeps track of all your CD Serial Keys. I've made the database and I'm at the point where I can type it all in and hit a "Add New" button to add it to the database, but when I hit the "Save" button, it crashes and says that the column "Serial Number" has exceeded the MaxLength....I don't get it...the numbers you put in the "serial number" is something like this "X5J3-2K4L5-2P4OK-23VMN-903NC" that's 24 numbers and letters long...I have changed the MaxLength property for the column to 30,000. How is 24 numbers and letters exceeded the MaxLength of 30,000? I think my "Serial Number" is setup for text. How do I fix this?

Message Box Pops Up 100 Times, Depending On The Number Of Errors?

Jul 17, 2009

I have a list of 100 assets that are pulled from AS400 and shown on a gridview alongside a dropdown box with 6 possible status and a textbox.

If the user selects a status other than "Found" (whether it's "Not Found", "Scrapped", "Sold", "Transferred","Other"), the user cannot leave the textbox empty. They must insert a comment into the textbox. Once the user is done he clicks "Save" and if, let's say, the status is "Sold" and the textbox is empty for all assets then a Message Box pops up saying "Please fill the textbox".

The problem is, the message box pops up 100 times (or once for every asset that has the error).

1) What can I do so that the message box only appears once even when 100 assets have the error?

2) Also, when the message box appears and I click "OK" the information the user had filled up to that point gets erased.

.net - Excel Data Export Fixing Number Errors/removing Green Triangles

Aug 8, 2011

After exporting data using a third party component the data in the excel sheet isn't type correctly. Excel thinks that some values are string while they are numbers and a little green triangle shows up.

We've coded the following to fix this:

For Each objCell As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Range In objWorkSheetReport.Range(objWorkSheetReport.Cells(1, 1), objWorkSheetReport.Cells(Me.RowCount + 10, Columns.Count + 10)).Cells

[Code].....

This removes all those little green triangles but is really slow.

Is there a faster way to convert a Range of data quickly so the green triangles don't show up?

Debug "wrong Number / Types Of Arguments In Call" Errors?

Nov 24, 2009

So I've recently been vexed by problems similar to this one: Oracle .NET error - Wrong number or type of arguments. I know oracle is famous for its terrible error reporting, but this is a giant pain to debug -- if you have ten parameters, that's twenty things to check by hand (types and names,) not to mention the actual number of parameters, and if they're actually legitimate values.

Is there some way to get better diagnostics on stored procedure calls to oracle?

VB 10 - Program - Calculate The Number Of Slices That Can Be Cut From A Pizza That Size - Errors Saying "With Held " Events

May 23, 2012

Write a complete Visual Basic program to do the following: Joe's Pizza Palace needs an application to calculate the number of slicesa pizza of any size can be divided into.

The application should do the following:
 Allow the user to enter the diameter of the pizza, in inches.
 Calculate the number of slices that can be cut from a pizza that size.
 Display a message that indicates the number of slices.
To calculate the number of slices that can be cut from the pizza, you must know these facts:
 Each slice should have an area of 14.125 inches.
 To calculate the number of slices, divide the area of the pizza by 14.125.
 The area of the pizza is calculated with the formula: Area = π r2

Note: The π is pi which is equal to 3.14159.The r is the radius of the pizza. Divide the diameter
by 2 to get the radius.

Form:
The application should be done form-based. You may design your own form. It must have the following:
 a label indicating that it is Joe's Pizza Palace
 a field with label to enter the size (diameter) of the pizza
 a field with label to display the number of slices
 buttons to calculate the number of slices and to exit the application

Output:
Use the following test data to determine if the application is calculating properly:
Diameter of Pizza Number of Slices
22 inches 27
15 inches 13
12 inches 8

Requirements:
 Name the project Pizza.
 Be sure to include your name included in a comment
 No credit is given for a program that will not execute.
 All rules of academic integrity should be applied as stated in the syllabus.
 Submit the zipped project into Moodle.

I have errors saying "With Held " events

WHAT IS WRONG WITH what I HAVE

Private Sub Button3_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles button3.Click

Comport Reads Errors After Number Of Good Reads

Jan 28, 2009

I have a hardware which sends out packets containing 17 bytes to the comport in bursts of 3. the little test VB that I have written receives and displays the bytes in a line of 17 bytes long and works fine until it gets to around 170th packet, then it starts to mix up (looks like shifting the data left) the bytes shift mostly by one digit sometimes by two. then it will continue to give almost a packet correct and a packet shifted for about 50 packets. Then it will correct itself for a long while, but then the speed at which it receives drops. All the packets are sent 3 times, and before things go wrong (within the first 170 packets) the packet counter shows that it receives 3 packet each time but after the problem it goes to 2 packet per burst and then to one.

If i close my VB monitoring program say at packet 165 and immediately open it again, it wont go wrong for another 170 packets, this points the finger at VB. I have check my hardware, there is no problem with that. The program reads port - waits for 17 bytes - once 17 has been received it will go and buffer the packet in an array. In fact they are 2 arrays but printing fro either results in the same problem.I have tried whatever i could think of but to no avail, i am wondering if some kind of house keeping needs to be done to clear something... I am sorry the program is a bit messy but I have been making many changes to find out what the problem is - my code below:[code]
