Can Store Data Annotation Error Messages In An External File
Dec 17, 2010
I am using data annotations to validation my class properties. A requirement has emerged to store the validation error messages in an external file from which they would be loaded into memory at runtime.I thought I'd be able to load a colleciton of error messages from an XML file and then set ErrorMessage:=[StringVariableHere] ... but apparently that doesn't work as you need to use a constant value. If I store the errormessages in a Resource.resx file then those error messages are compiled into the project and can't be loaded at runtime - or am I wrong?
I'm trying to pass some parameters into a data annotation, and it is rejecting my named parameter. It's the same exact syntax in Microsoft's documentation for the TableAttribute, except in the documentation they have an uppercase N, but intellisense on the parameter in VS asks for a lower case n. It looks like the constructor was updated, but the tooltip wasn't, because this is what shows up when you get the syntax prompt: And I needed to be able to specify schema. But now I've found another way to do this. Why I was trying named parameters in the first place; because this wasn't working. Apparently I missed trying this syntax, which works.
in the sense that MVC does not complain about my protected inner abstract Metadata class, and the model validation still works:
Partial Domain Object, generated by a tool: Partial Public Class SampleDomainObject Private _id As Integer
[code]....
I did this because I didn't want to have to implement actual properties with backing fields, getters, and setters in VB.NET for the Metadata class to keep the maintenance to a minimum (I'm on .NET 3.5, no auto-properties for me). What I'm worried about is that having a protected abstract inner class could be confusing to others using this domain object outside of MVC (my domain objects are part of a shared data access framework).
Is there a dataannotation validate rule for a collection based property? I have the following <DisplayName("Category")> <Range(1, Integer.MaxValue, ErrorMessage:="Please select a category")> Property CategoryId As Integer <DisplayName("Technical Services")> Property TechnicalServices As List(Of Integer) I'm looking for a validator that I can add to the TechnicalServices property to set a minimum for the collection size.
For testing purposes, I write a lot of alerts and error messages into a .txt file (some 15 entries per second). At the end of the day, the txt file becomes very large. I am now getting confronted with data loss in my application (threads indicated as being busy). Could it be that my entries in the Log.txt are slowing down my application to the point that the latter becomes unstable ?
I am wondering where should I store my error messages. These messages are the simplified version meant for the users. I am thinking like centralizing a specific location to store all the custom messages so that it will be easier to reference in the future. The location should also provide a key for each stored message.
I would like to include a text file for easy ediing of data that my app will read and pull data from. My external data file is a csv fileI want to display a checked list box that display this info and based on selections in the checked list box cand in a procedure later call commands based on those selections.
I'm rewriting a legacy application in .NET. In the earlier version, I used a few control .INI files that could be edited by the advanced user to provide variation in certain program options. (The program also permitted override of these same variabes via menus and such.) I used the API functions to read the .INI files and rewrite them to alter the user's environment for subsequent runs.
ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source='" + fileName + "'; Extended Properties=Excel 5.0" Dim ExcelConnection As System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection ExcelConnection = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection(ConnectionString)
Error occurs on line ExcelConnection.Open()External table is not in the expected format.
I am using VB.net code and SQL server 2005.I am havng below code for sending email in my vb.net code.
Protected Sub ibtnSendInvites_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ibtnSendInvites.Click Try Dim emailList As New List(Of String) For Each curRow As GridViewRow In GridView1.Rows
[code].....
Now my problem is that some time if emailaddress is not valid or SMTP server is responding my application get hangs. I want to log my errors generated by my SMTP server in table or any log file it would be good if I can send back email to admin with the details of error occurred.
I have a data in the below format number = 4 length = 7 force = 100 Now I want to read it in a format that it will check the string 'number' or 'length' or 'force' or whatever and stores this data into specified arrays or listboxes. Like a force() array or listboxforce.items()
I have a question (suppose to be simple). The question related to reading text file which is in the below format.
[Code]....
What I want here is to store the first data column in the file to be stored in AreasString and 2nd column in Level, 3rd in Importance and so on untill the end of the data. In addition, How can I check the type of data? For example, if I want to say: If 10.25 is double then msgbox ("it is double") else msgbox ("it is integer")
i have created one access file but i got error in the code so i can't store the values in that data file please check my code what's wrong with my code. [code]
I need to store/retrieve a bit from a data table of 3.268.760 bits long.
Using w As New BinaryWriter(File.Open("test.bin", FileMode.Create)) for x = 1 to 3268760 For i = 1 To 3268760[code]....
the w.write(?) stores a boolean value meaning 0/1 for false/true values, but Vb.net seems to use an whole byte to store this data which is too expensive for my table (3.268.760^2).Is there a pratical way to store/retrive single bits from a file using vb.net? (meaning as little as possible conversion to other types).
i am try to read from a file and then split the data and store them in an array but i am getting an error. can someone please point to the right direction here is the file i am trying to read from
I'm trying to build something called a structure which will store data it retrieves from a text file. Hi, I need to program a simple Web Browser that can search for keywords and store relevant data in another file.I am facing a problem with authentication, mainly cookies and maintaining a session. So I read that Web Browser Control is based on I.E.? So may I know how are cookies and session handled?Do I have to implement them manually or are they stored and retrieved from the same folder as the one used in I.E? If so, if I delete the I.E.'s cache, am I also deleteing the cache of any Web Browser I make using Web Browser Control?
"Create a class called Invoice that a hardware store might use to represent an invoice for an item sold at the store. An Invoice should include four pieces of information as instance variables--a part number (type String), a part description (type String), a quantity of the item being purchased (type Integer) and a price per item (Type Integer). Your class should have a constructor that initialize for each of the four instance variables. Provide a property for each instance variable. If the quantity is not positive it should be set to zero. If the price per item is not positive it should be set to zero."
I attached the code I have. obj is underlined and says "Argument not specified for parameter 'Invoice4' of the 'Public Sub New (Invoice1 As Object, Invoice2 As Object, Invoice3 As Object, Invoice4 As Object)' and so the program won't run. What am I doing wrong?
Public Class Form1
Private Sub TextBox1_TextChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Dim obj1 As New Invoice(Val(TextBox1.Text)) TextBox1.Text &= obj1.Invoice1 & vbNewLine TextBox1.Text &= obj1.Invoice2 & vbNewLine TextBox1.Text &= obj1.Invoice3 & vbNewLine TextBox1.Text &= obj1.Invoice4 & vbNewLine
How do i write into my code an error message to pop up once the user of the interface tries to enter in one more item than the maximum number alowed? Here is the code i have so far.[code]...
I am creating a simple VB.NET WebBrowser to automate and simplify navigation of a web site. However on certain pages i get the following popup message. This is telling me about an error which is on the Web Site itself and thus out of my control.
Is it possible to block these popups from my application?
The application is for personal use, so auto-clicking yes would be an acceptable option.
am writing this program as for an assignment. How can i make it so that these error messages dont show up when the train method of commuting is selected? This error message is related to the car method of commuting and shouldnt pop up. My book dosent show me anything on how to avoid this.
I have a small windows application that gets word documents from a source folder, prints the documents and moves the documents to a destination folder.
I tried to run this on a local instance of sql-server and sadly it worked!!!now I know that the code is right and there is some kind of DBA restriction I need to find (and ask the DBA to remove)
using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Text;
' OK button Private Sub OK_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles OK.Click Dim con As New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.jet.oledb.4.0;data

Can anyone give me some easy to understand exception-handled error messages, like this:
Catch parameter As SqlException MsgBox("Unable to save record due to invalid parameters.", MsgBoxStyle.Information, "Unable To Save Record")dbConn.Close()for the following events:
- During database connection error - Error occurred uring saving, deleting - Unable to load data from database
Kindly include what kind of exception that would be as well.
