Apr 22, 2010I don't know if I can have several same forms to do the manager jobs, ACTUALLY THE STORE VALUES ARE DIFFERENT(those forms can have the independant data values to store into the forms), like if I can have the datagridviews to store the different values? SO,MY QUESTION IS if I can have several same forms(FROM ONE SAME FORM), and can store different data values into the forms with vb.net & access, OR I HAVE TO CREATE SEVERAL SAME FORMS.

Jul 18, 2009Using VB express 2008 here. I am just wondering about the best way to store certain values like the last browsed folder even if a user closes the app and starts it again. I dont want to go the route of making a text file in the installation directory and storing the values there. Seems clunky.

the w.write(?) stores a boolean value meaning 0/1 for false/true values, but Vb.net seems to use an whole byte to store this data which is too expensive for my table (3.268.760^2).Is there a pratical way to store/retrive single bits from a file using vb.net? VS 2008 Best Way To Store Data In Application
Feb 16, 2011for an example I'm making an RPG game for learning purposes and I have several modules, each for storing different data (one for items, one for enemies etc).I'm storing each item or enemy in a structure in the module so it's easy to find and obtain the values and makes it easier to add more when needed. I'm sure there's a easier way because at the moment I'm storing it like this:

As you can see, I have all the weapons(which are in a structure) nested into another structure called "weapons" so it's easier to find.Is there an easier way to store the data and make it still readable, obtainable and easy to add more weapons later on.To display the stats on the currently selected weapon I have to test for which weapon is selected and then several lines of code just to display the stats for that one weapon.

Dec 17, 2010I am using data annotations to validation my class properties. A requirement has emerged to store the validation error messages in an external file from which they would be loaded into memory at runtime.I thought I'd be able to load a colleciton of error messages from an XML file and then set ErrorMessage:=[StringVariableHere] ... but apparently that doesn't work as you need to use a constant value.If I store the errormessages in a Resource.resx file then those error messages are compiled into the project and can't be loaded at runtime - or am I wrong?

Nov 15, 2011my application has a data table, one of the column set as decimal type to store number, data is read from a text file and store into the data table, then display in a datagridview, I found when that number is only 1 digit, that cell displays nothing (I think no number is being store in that cell), if I type a 1 digit number into that cell is fine. for example,

0.15 [ok]
4 [not display]

So may I know how are cookies and session handled?Do I have to implement them manually or are they stored and retrieved from the same folder as the one used in I.E? If so, if I delete the I.E.'s cache, am I also deleteing the cache of any Web Browser I make using Web Browser Control?

myArray.add("key2","value2")
etc...
But Id like to store more information with a specific key, not just a single value, so id like to associate other values with key1 eg firstname,surname,address.
So by knowing the value of 'key1' I could retrieve the firstname, surname or address associated with it.
I know in PERL, hash arrays work in this manner
eg
$hash{'key1}{'firstname'} = 'john';
$hash{'key1}{'surname'} = 'smith';
etc....

How To Store Values In Byte Array
Mar 29, 2009I'm trying to convert old code to VB in VS2005. The code I'm working on is used to store values in a string, which will then be handed to a proprietary scramble function. This function is a given in this case. I've already switched from a string to an array of bytes in my .NET code.
The old code (VBA) was using a string value to store the data, example function for Double value:

The code basically copies the memory contents (using API call CopyMemory) of the memory (held by the double variable) to the memory held by a byte array. It then reads the byte array and converts it into a string. Workarounds could be to convert a bool or long to a string, though that would be expensive in terms of memory/storage eg. 1234564787 would be 10 bytes in a string where as a long is only 4 bytes (factor 2.5 increase).
How to retain the original precision? Converting it to a string would result in endless numbers. Another problem (at least I think it could be) is that in VBA the variables are rather simple, but in .NET they are all objects, so how to retrieve the actual memory location of the value? let alone garbage collection moving stuff around. How to get those variables stored in my byte array?

Apr 24, 2009I built a small website and there will be only one admin, so in the admin panel I am asking for a password with a value that I do not retrieve from a database, I just hard coded it in the function in code behind, I know this is wrong though I don't know why.
So is hard coding it in web.config the right thing to do? and how?
