Combo Box - Disable SelectedIndex Changed Event During Form Load
Apr 26, 2010I have a combo box on a form. I have a SelectedIndexChanged event, that displays a message box when the combo box has another item from it selected. This works fine. However when the form is loaded, I initially want to set the current drop down box item from the database, then AFTER I have set the current value, I want this event to work. Problem is from the get go when the form loads it asks me the question as its being changed from 'no data' to then be populated with a bunch of data and an item selected.

Jan 25, 2010when the user clicks on the add button another form launches, which enables the user to add student info such as name, address, course, start date and end date, this information is then written to class when the ok button on that form is clicked, and then displays the data on the initial form in data grid. the user can add multiple entries and they are all displayed on the intial form and a the data grid is populatedwhen any of the rows in the displayed grid is selected, and the update button is clicked then the same form launches as the previous one and but this time its in the update mode and pre populates the form with the inital values.

Jan 24, 2012I am using VS2008, vb.net, Windows forms project.I have a combo box control on a tab control.The selected value of the combo box is bound to a binding source.The data source of the binding source is a typed dataset.I set the datasource of the binding source when a record is chosen in a data grid control.Since the combo box is bound to the binding source, this should set the selected value of the combo box, and fire the initial SelectedIndexChanged event.Therefore, I remove the SelectedIndexChanged event handler for the combo box before I set the datasource of the binding source, and add the handler again after the datasource is set.

Nov 14, 2010I am coding a program for a movie trivia game that randomly shows a movie quote and the the user selects a movie name from a combo box that matches. I used a array for the movie quotes and a comboBox for the movie names. I have coded a portion of the program but I am stuck on how to compare the array quote being shown to what movie the user selects from the comboBox. I have tried numerous different things but none seem to work right. The way I have it coded now it shows that every movie I pick that it is right even if it is wrong. I am going to show part of the code here and also attach the entire solution for anyone that needs it .

Datagridview Column Index Changed After Build?
Jun 6, 2009I have datagridview with XSD as the binding source (i configured it with the smart tags). After build, the dgv change its columnIndex which surely result error of my code.
For example
columnIndex(0) = idEmployee (dataGridViewTextBoxColumn)
columnIndex(1) = name (dataGridViewTextBoxColumn)
columnIndex(2) = status (dataGridViewCheckBoxColumn)
suddenly, the columnIndex(2) moved into columnIndex(0)

But when i select the data, it not fire the select index changed. Another drop down list which hard code the item list fired the select index changed. Below is the code behind and the front end code.

The code works until it gets to the last item if there is only one item in the dropdown box it does not populate the text boxes, if I loop through the code it is going to the droplist index change but it goes from dr.Read() and just jumps to dr.close() without populating the text boxes?

When a user using my application clicks on a row in the grid, a triangle appears in a column on the left of the grid indicating the selected row. However, if the user does nothing, after several minutes, the selected row changes to the first row in the grid and the triangle indicating the selected row moves to the first row.

Jul 9, 2009I have DataSet "ds", that has a table with two columns and 11 rows. First columns is "ID" second column "name". I need to fill a combo box, with all teh names in "name" column. This i can do with

But i need to map each name in the combo box to it's "ID" (in the table). Assume ID = 10000 has the name = "Mark", then if the user selects "Mark", i can store it's "ID" 1000 to a variable. How do i map the "ID" to "Name"?PS: Appologies for C# code !
C# - Tab Data Lost On Selected Item Changed MVVM?
Mar 23, 2012I have been trying to do this for ages and having no joy whatsoever.
I have a ribbon window of the following hierarchy:

MainContent (Tab Control)
TabContainerViewModel
ViewModelBase
View model base has an ObservableCollection of tabs type ViewModelBase. The Tab Control itself is binding fine to these, displaying appropriate view models. I have 2 problems however, I want a "NotepadView" (Of type viewmodelbase) to be replicated numerous times (one view many view models).
At the minute, I have 4 views (NotePadViewModelx where x is 1-4) with corresponding viewmodels, this is because each view had the same text per tab. Now I have individual views per tab.
When I type into tab 1 and switch to tab 2, I lose what I typed in tab one when I click back.
Add An Event For When A Value Is Changed?
Aug 6, 2009Is there a way I can add an event for when a value is changed, because, I need to add an OnDisconnected() event that detects when the mobjlistener.Connected value has changed...would I have to do a timer, is there a way I can do an event for getting disonnected?

I would rather not add a timer, I would rather have an event that fires when mobjlistener.Connected changes, but if I can't I will go ahead and use the timer instead.The problem I have that I need to detect when this changes is because sometimes I get disconnected for an unknown reason using the TCP Multi-User Chat, it has handlers for disconnected, but whatever is causing the disconnect, it is just not detecting it, so if I could make it so that it will trigger when this is changed, then I can stop the problem I have once and for all.

I added the colLocation to dgv."descirption" contains Unicode characters. I can see the comboBox correctly and choose the item.The problem is when the comboBox lost the focus, the value is changed to first item of the comboBox.
Updated:I found out that the ComboBox doesn't change the data when the DisplayMember is in English characters. It changes only when the DisplayMember is in Unicode chracter.

.net - FileSystemWatcher Changed Event Not Being Raised?
Apr 29, 2009I'm working on a Windows Service that watches a few folders for changes, creations, and deletions. It all works well with the exception of one watcher that watches a single file (XML File with Configuration Settings) for minor changes.
I tried taking the Windows Service code and putting it into a simple windows application with start/stop buttons for the filesystem watchers and stepped through it. It never detects the file change of the XML config file. The changes are indeed occurring and the "Date Modified" of the file is updating.

I've got a datagridview (dgv) on a form with some textboxes that are databound to different fields in the dgv's datasource. I want to capture an event if someone changes a value through one of the databound controls so I can mark the row as modified. I've been going through the dgv events trying to capture something, but I can't find anything that fires when a value is changed. The dgv is read only, so the values can only be changed through the databount textboxes.
How to I know if someone changes a value in the dgv? Is there a setting in the dgv that will tell me if a row is modified?
Get DataRow That Was Changed In DataBindingComplete Event?
Mar 13, 2012I have a DataGridView that uses a BindingSource to display my underlying DataTable. When the user makes a change to a row in the DataGridView the BindingSource's DataBindingComplete event fires. I'd like to get the DataTable's DataRow that caused this event. How do I do this?
The code below does not return the correct DataRow. For example, when I Fill my DataTable then change row 200 the Current property still equals 0, which always returns the first row in my DataTable.

Grid Selection Changed Event
Jul 15, 2009i have 4-5 forms and contains grid and some coding is done on selectionchanged event of grid. eveything is working fine but one of the form has this problem.as soon as i call the form form1.show and it fires the selectionchanged of grid before even it fire form load event. i'm not sure why? i try to debugged it step by step, as soon as form.show command is done the control goes to selectionchage event of grid and at the same time it is working fine on rest of the forms.
