I have datagridview with XSD as the binding source (i configured it with the smart tags). After build, the dgv change its columnIndex which surely result error of my code.
For example
columnIndex(0) = idEmployee (dataGridViewTextBoxColumn)
columnIndex(1) = name (dataGridViewTextBoxColumn)
columnIndex(2) = status (dataGridViewCheckBoxColumn)
suddenly, the columnIndex(2) moved into columnIndex(0)
Is there a way to find the column index of a datagridview column using the columns DataPropertyName?I currently use a loop (shown below in the class) which is kind of ugly, but it works. I'd like to do something like this, which seems more elegant. My goal is this, I store the users DataGridView column settings (i.e. DisplayIndex, Visible, & Width). When the user opens the form that contains the datagridview I want to get those settings from the database and apply the settings to the datagridview.[code]
I have a DataGridView containing a large number of columns. I want the users to be able to select multiple columns and then select a menu item to hide the selected columns. For example a user might selected columns 5 through 10 and I want the program to hide those columns. I know how to hide columns, one at a time. I can get the count of selected columns but I have not figured out how to get the index to the left-most selected column. Trial and error is such a slow process.
Considering the huge number of options offered by the DataGridView tool, it would be nice if this forum had a special category for the DataGridView (common to VB and C#).
Finally I got the desired results but it took a lot of coding, looping through the selected cells to find the one with the lowest column index, then a second loop to count previously-hidden columns, then a third loop for hiding the selected columns, stepping past previously-hidden columns and declining to hide frozen columns.
I am trying to sort a column in DGV as follows: DataGridView8.Sort(DataGridView8.Columns(0), ListSortDirection.Ascending) However, I want to use the name of the column and extract the index number in the first parameter of the Sort method. However this fails: DataGridView8.Sort(DataGridView8.Columns("Date").Index, ListSortDirection.Ascending)
i have two datragridviewcomboboxcolumn, and two textbox column in a datagridview.each combobox column is binded to separate binding source.
column names are sl_no,col_empname,col_empworktype,Col_Hours etc.and displaymember,datapropertyname,valuemember and for comboxcolumn are col_empname:-emp_name,emp_id,emp_id col_empworktype:-worktypename,worktypeid,worktypeid
I have a datagridview with 3 columns. The second column is a combobox which I want to bind with a dataset. How do I go about setting the column index for it as I am doing something like this.
Problem: Calling a method which uses a cell's value from a DataBound DataGridView. Works as desired without adding an image column. When I add the image column, the method attempts to use the value from column 1 instead of column 2, as the code in the 2nd method below ("findSign") states:
i am having trouble putting a value in a textbox. Each time a ticket is sold i put the total price in a textbox, each time a ticket is sold for the same concert it increases by adding its self to the total price. It works at the first sale, but after that it breaks down. here is the code
Private Function DisplayMoneyTaken() As Integer Dim totalMoney As Integer 'open the database connection
I execute some code for current on binding source when selectedIndexChanged.Problem is it throws an error when its executed on closing the form. I can wrap in a try catch... but what would the proper way to handle this be?
Select Case TabControl_Lanes.SelectedTab.Name Case tp_create_Lanes.Name depotName = CStr(M8DepotsBindingSource.Current("depotName")) depotID = CInt(M8DepotsBindingSource.Current("depotID")) End Select
doing dropdown list selected index changed. I wan to select an item in dropdown list and display in textbox but I got more than 1 textboxes. Is the style sheet (.css) going to hard code by our own. how do I go about starting with it as I am a beginnner using visual studio.
This is something that's been bugging me for a while. Say I have a dgv with several columns and rows of data. Many times while working with the grid, it's necessary to know the number of the column, but all you know is the column header name, or vice versa. Is there any internal command that will return these values, or is there at least a better solution to the problem than making a function that loops through every header name until you find the one you want? It just seems so inefficient.
I have a repeater with a dropdownlist in it. When a user changes its index, I would like a label to change its value. (the ddlSizes values come from a MySQL DB)
i have problem for the drop down list in the grid view, it not fire the select index changed. I bind the data for the drop down list when the row databound. But when i select the data, it not fire the select index changed. Another drop down list which hard code the item list fired the select index changed. Below is the code behind and the front end code.
I have 1 Table Called "Menu" there are some textboxes and a combobox. I want to fill data in the Textbox called "Menu_Rate" on Selection of combobox selected item & coressponding rate of the Menu shoud be displayed in the textbox.
This is my Code con.ConnectionString = "Data Source=localhost;Integrated Security=true;Initial Catalog=Restaurant" cmd.CommandText = "select Menu_Rate from Menu where Menu_Name='" & cbMenu.SelectedItem & "'"
I am using the following code to populate text boxes based on a drop down list index change event
Private Sub DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As WinControls.UI.Data.PositionChangedEventArgs) Handles DropDownList1.SelectedIndexChanged
[Code]....
The code works until it gets to the last item if there is only one item in the dropdown box it does not populate the text boxes, if I loop through the code it is going to the droplist index change but it goes from dr.Read() and just jumps to dr.close() without populating the text boxes?
Notice that everytime the winform first loads, it will trigger 2 comboboxes ( each tabs each comboboxes ) selected index changed event from,
trying to find possible way to stop combobox selected index changed from winform first load, only trigger combobox selected index changed event after selecting the specific tab,
How can i get the Column Index and the Row Index when I click on the ListView? The ListView1.FocusedItem.GetSubItemAt(e.X, e.Y).Text function only gets the text of the first column, I can't find the option of getting the Index of the Column and Row upon clicking.
I am working in VB 2008 and I have set up a datagridview to display rows of data which can then be selected. When I select the first row I get the error: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. When I select any other row the program executes as it should. From what I have learned so far is that the DataGridView has an index of -1 and that it counts the header row as part of the index which is the -1.When I select the first row through either DataGridView1_RowHeaderMouseClick or DataGridView1_CellContentClick the index is 0 for the first record. If the index is 0 I think it would fire off, but I have no idea what is happening behind the scenes. I can check the index, so when it is 0 and the code attempts to access the row, that is when I get the message. On an index number of 1 and up the code executes fine. So, is there a way to re-index the DataGridView, or is there a work around/fix for this issue?
I have a parent page and child page, both aspx. All is working, but now I would like to close child page, if user leaves child popup page and goes back to parent page and clicks on something else like page index of Gridview. I CANNOT close popup child page if user goes to another app, or some other location, I only want to close if something on parent page is changed.
I have the PageIndexChange Event set up for other purposes, I would just like to add some functionality, perhaps a script manager to close the child popup page if the Gridview index is changed, java or another way which ever works best.I think I might also need to check if the child page is even open.
when the user clicks on the add button another form launches, which enables the user to add student info such as name, address, course, start date and end date, this information is then written to class when the ok button on that form is clicked, and then displays the data on the initial form in data grid. the user can add multiple entries and they are all displayed on the intial form and a the data grid is populatedwhen any of the rows in the displayed grid is selected, and the update button is clicked then the same form launches as the previous one and but this time its in the update mode and pre populates the form with the inital values.
I have a ListView that I am using to display specific data. In most of the columns, I have images that represent supported types. When I add these images and build the project, they go away.It worked for a few weeks until they suddenly disappeared.
I've created a Datagridview bound to a Datatable. This Datatable is updated by a event to reflect statistical information as it changes (sub second resolution). I have a checkbox to determine if a row is available for other functions and can be toggled on and off normally if my eventhandler is not receiving my updates.
If my bound Datatable is changed, the checkbox returns to its previous state as soon as the cursor or focus leaves the checkbox glyph (not the cell).
How do I toggle the checkboxes without them reseting without disconnecting my eventhandler?
I need to "refresh" a DataGridView, bound to a database table, on a form within a TabControl The DataGridView is loaded correctly on strartup... But if the data in the DataBase change, How do I refresh it to reflect new records or updates?
this is what I am doing in code, after looking for some examples on the web:
I've been searching all over and I'm either not searching for the right words or it just doesn't exist. I've got a datagridview (dgv) on a form with some textboxes that are databound to different fields in the dgv's datasource. I want to capture an event if someone changes a value through one of the databound controls so I can mark the row as modified. I've been going through the dgv events trying to capture something, but I can't find anything that fires when a value is changed. The dgv is read only, so the values can only be changed through the databount textboxes.
How to I know if someone changes a value in the dgv? Is there a setting in the dgv that will tell me if a row is modified?
I have an unbound Datagridview which gets its data from an array from an Excel sheet. I give the user the chance to amend this data in a Datagridview. I then need to know if the user has changed this data before processing it further. I have in vain, tried to use IsCurrentRowDirty, IsCurrentCellDirty, looping through DGV matrix etc. It seems that because the DGV is not bound to a dataset then the normal properties like HasChanged and the 2 above don't seem to work. Here is my attempted code which is not working:
Dim DGRow As DataGridViewRow Dim DGCell As DataGridViewCell For Each DGRow In DGV_ReviewDetails.Rows
