I execute some code for current on binding source when selectedIndexChanged.Problem is it throws an error when its executed on closing the form. I can wrap in a try catch... but what would the proper way to handle this be?

Notice that everytime the winform first loads, it will trigger 2 comboboxes ( each tabs each comboboxes ) selected index changed event from,
trying to find possible way to stop combobox selected index changed from winform first load, only trigger combobox selected index changed event after selecting the specific tab,
when the user clicks on the add button another form launches, which enables the user to add student info such as name, address, course, start date and end date, this information is then written to class when the ok button on that form is clicked, and then displays the data on the initial form in data grid. the user can add multiple entries and they are all displayed on the intial form and a the data grid is populatedwhen any of the rows in the displayed grid is selected, and the update button is clicked then the same form launches as the previous one and but this time its in the update mode and pre populates the form with the inital values.
View 3 RepliesBased on our tests primarily done in VB.NET in VS2010 it seems that when you close a WinForm the "RowValidating" event of the DataGridView on that form behaves differently depending on whether the form is MODAL or NON-MODAL. What we did was open the form (MODAL and NONMODAL) and changed a value of a cell and then immediately clicked the "X" to close the form. It looks like the "RowValidating" event DOESN'T fire if the grid is on a MODAL form but it DOES fire when the grid is on a NON-MODAL form. We can't figure out why that is... Is this a known bug in .NET?

A form has many buttons. One of those buttons contains code to update the TableAdapterManager. One of the many TextBox controls has code in a Validating event handler. There is code to make sure a US phone number is formatted properly.If the user tabs out of the TextBox the Validating code works perfectly and show a message to the user if the phone number is not properly formatted and the focus is place in the offending TextBox.If the user clicks on a button that has code to update the TableAdapterManager the Validating code fires but instead of focus remaining on the offending TextBox, the code in the button Click handler also fires.
I would like to stop the button code from firing.Here is the code for the Validating event of the TextBox:

View 1 RepliesI have datagridview with XSD as the binding source (i configured it with the smart tags). After build, the dgv change its columnIndex which surely result error of my code.
For example
columnIndex(0) = idEmployee (dataGridViewTextBoxColumn)
columnIndex(1) = name (dataGridViewTextBoxColumn)
columnIndex(2) = status (dataGridViewCheckBoxColumn)
suddenly, the columnIndex(2) moved into columnIndex(0)
i have problem for the drop down list in the grid view, it not fire the select index changed. I bind the data for the drop down list when the row databound. But when i select the data, it not fire the select index changed. Another drop down list which hard code the item list fired the select index changed. Below is the code behind and the front end code.

The code works until it gets to the last item if there is only one item in the dropdown box it does not populate the text boxes, if I loop through the code it is going to the droplist index change but it goes from dr.Read() and just jumps to dr.close() without populating the text boxes?

When a user using my application clicks on a row in the grid, a triangle appears in a column on the left of the grid indicating the selected row. However, if the user does nothing, after several minutes, the selected row changes to the first row in the grid and the triangle indicating the selected row moves to the first row.

View model base has an ObservableCollection of tabs type ViewModelBase. The Tab Control itself is binding fine to these, displaying appropriate view models. I have 2 problems however, I want a "NotepadView" (Of type viewmodelbase) to be replicated numerous times (one view many view models).
At the minute, I have 4 views (NotePadViewModelx where x is 1-4) with corresponding viewmodels, this is because each view had the same text per tab. Now I have individual views per tab.
When I type into tab 1 and switch to tab 2, I lose what I typed in tab one when I click back.

I added the colLocation to dgv."descirption" contains Unicode characters. I can see the comboBox correctly and choose the item.The problem is when the comboBox lost the focus, the value is changed to first item of the comboBox.
Updated:I found out that the ComboBox doesn't change the data when the DisplayMember is in English characters. It changes only when the DisplayMember is in Unicode chracter.

I have a parent page and child page, both aspx. All is working, but now I would like to close child page, if user leaves child popup page and goes back to parent page and clicks on something else like page index of Gridview. I CANNOT close popup child page if user goes to another app, or some other location, I only want to close if something on parent page is changed.
I have the PageIndexChange Event set up for other purposes, I would just like to add some functionality, perhaps a script manager to close the child popup page if the Gridview index is changed, java or another way which ever works best.I think I might also need to check if the child page is even open.

The first would be, how would I go about making each index in a list box an integer or decimal value? For example, If I wanted the 1st (or 0) index to = 300 and the next one (1) = 400. The weird thing is the code i use works for most of it but on some of the writes and conversions it just converts the selectedindex to 00 when its not.

I have a DataGridView containing a large number of columns. I want the users to be able to select multiple columns and then select a menu item to hide the selected columns. For example a user might selected columns 5 through 10 and I want the program to hide those columns. I know how to hide columns, one at a time. I can get the count of selected columns but I have not figured out how to get the index to the left-most selected column. Trial and error is such a slow process.
Considering the huge number of options offered by the DataGridView tool, it would be nice if this forum had a special category for the DataGridView (common to VB and C#).
Finally I got the desired results but it took a lot of coding, looping through the selected cells to find the one with the lowest column index, then a second loop to count previously-hidden columns, then a third loop for hiding the selected columns, stepping past previously-hidden columns and declining to hide frozen columns.
I have loaded datatable to listview.Now when i try to do a selected index and retrieve data to display in respective text box. I find some error "input string format incorrect".but when i directly load from folder it works fine.
Data that retrieved from Datatable.Im not able to find the index of the row. But from folder and listed in ListView.Index value is found.
