Comboboxes In GridView Are Synchronized Instead Of Bound To The Value From The Database

Jul 3, 2010

I have tried to set up combo boxes in the gridview but all the combo boxes have the same value in them instead of the value from the database. I am using entity framework and WPF. There is a parent child relationship between two tables but the source for the combo box is a separate table with names and IDs for tags. I have been looking all day. Hopefully this won't be too easy to solve.

The "Tag" Column displays the combo box. The Column "Tag ID" displays the value from the database. When I display the data the TagID Changes in diffrent rows but the Tag column is the same (the first choice) in all the rows. When I change one combo box they all change. I can't see where they are hooked together.

Here is the XAML

<Window x:Class="MainWindow"
xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"
xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"
Title="MainWindow" Height="372" Width="675" mc:Ignorable="d"

How To Sort GridView (Bound To List) With JQuery

Jan 31, 2012

I have a gridview in asp.net/vb and it is bound to a list - so there's no standard sorting available. I've found this jQuery plugin for sorting tables: [URL]. The plugin requires <thead> and <tbody>. The problem is, that my gridview only renders the <tbody>.

I've already tried
DataList.UseAccessibleHeader = True
DataList.HeaderRow.TableSection = TableRowSection.TableHeader
But this changes nothing.

My gridview markup:
<asp:GridView runat="server" CssClass="grid" ID="DataList" AutoGenerateColumns="False" AllowSorting="True" ClientIDMode ="Static">
<Columns>
<asp:BoundField HeaderText="SomeHeaderText" DataField="SomeDataField" />
<asp:BoundField HeaderText="SomeHeaderText" DataField="SomeDataField" DataFormatString="{0:dd.MM.yyyy}" />

I am creating a simple website using the language of VB.NET, I am having trouble with one part at the moment and could really use some help.

At the moment I have items that are stored in a database, when the homepage loads these items are added to a Gridview which allows the user to select the items they wish to add to their shopping cart. Once an item is selected from the gridview it is added to a collection. That collection is then added to a Session. This is the code I have for completing that task.[code]...

Handling RowDataBound Causes Dynamically-bound GridView To Show Only First Record

Jun 28, 2011

I have a GridView control which I am dynamically binding to a DataTable which is populated by a query built based on a set of selected options.What I am trying to do is simply handle the RowDataBound event in order to format specific rows based on the value of a database field. The code in this event handler works fine. My problem is, calling this event causes the GridView to only display the first record in the DataTable, almost as if the Gridview stops after binding to the DataTable after the first row is bound. I have attempted adding the handler dynamically, but I get the same results.I know for a fact that there is sufficient data being returned (the DataTable fills with all of the records, and the GridView shows all the records fine when not touching the RowDataBound event).

I'm adding the handler immediately after generating the query, filling the DataTable, and binding the GridView: [code]I have also determined that, when handling RowDataBound, the GridView's DATABOUND event never gets fired; it seems to stop binding right after binding the first row.

Displaying List Of Objects As Single Column In A Bound Gridview (Winforms)?

Mar 15, 2010

I have a gridview that is bound to a datasource on a Windows Form (VB.NET). The grid displays a list of "certifications", and each "certification" can be associated with many languages. So in the grid, I'd like to display "languages" as a column, and display a comma delimited list of the language names for each "certification".

In the "certification" class, one of the properties is a list of "language" objects, and each "language" has an ID (guid), name (string), and value (integer).

So in the datasource, I have the list of "languages", but I can't figure out how to display them in a column on the grid. The gridview won't let me add the language list property as a column.

So is the ONLY way to add a new property on the "certification" class, which returns a string that contains the comma delimited list, and show THAT on the grid? Or is there a way to display that list of "languages"?

Renaming ComboBoxes Causes Compiler - Cross Linked ComboBoxes?

Populate Datagrid With Records From Database In Comboboxes

Jun 10, 2011

I am developing a Windows application in Visual Studio 2005, V2.0 using VB.NET. I am coding part of an Emergency Response Information System. On my form, I have two combo boxes (cboBaseStationID and cboPriority). I am trying to populate the datagrid with records from my database based on what is selected in both comboboxes.

For the first combobox, the user selects a name so the datagrid must only show records with that name. For the second combobox, this is a little more complicated. There are four emergency priorities in the combobox that the user can choose - 1, 2, 3, 4. In the database, there are different response teams (to be dispatched to these emergencies) and each response team has a grade of either 1, 2 or 3. [Code]

Dataset And Datagridview Not Synchronized?

Apr 22, 2010

I have a data bound datagridview where I am allowed to add and delete rows.So a new row is the last row in the grid with the '*'. When a user starts to type in the new row, that row no longer is considered the new row. It is then inserted into a row above the new row (*). The user, however, can press 'Esc' key and this row gets deleted.If the user does not pressed 'Esc' but move the cursor along that row, this row will be permanently there. I have tested this scenario and check the underlying dataset and it registers no changes as in the myDataset.hasChanges=FALSE.If I call myDataAdapter.Update(myDataSet), nothing gets updated. How do I save this row to the database?

.net - Linq2sql Synchronized Rapid Deletes?

May 7, 2011

I set up a test harness by checking for and then deleting records added to the db in the previous testing session, and then I test my recording adding code by adding back the same records.Interestingly this code works fine when there is a break in the debugger, but fails with a "duplicate key" exception when I let it run with no breaks, which leads me to believe there is some kind of concurrency issue.The basic metacode is as follows:

DoTest()
dim j as datacontext
dim recs = from myrecs in j.mythings select myrecs where myrecs.key="key1" or
myrecs.key = "key2"

[code]....

I've confirmed that I'm properly deleted the previous added records, and this works fine as does adding the new records when I have a break in the code before I hit the add records step. but without the break, it throws duplicate key exceptions in the "addrecordestomytable" method suggesting that it hasn't grabbed the current version of the table when it creates the new data context in addrecordstomytable, even though the records should have already been deleted.I've tried refreshing the table, but this doesn't seem to work either.Note backing database is ms sql server 10?

Show An Image For Exactly # Synchronized Monitor Frames?

Jun 9, 2011

What I can do: Display an image (e.g. a bitmap) by loading it into a control (e.g. picture box), showing that picture box (visible equals true / refresh) and then hiding it (visible equals false / refresh).The onset of the image onto the screen is not necessarily synchronized with the raster scan (needs to run on CRT monitor) meaning the lower portion of the image may appear one (partial) frame before the upper portion. Though I can specify (roughly) how long the image is on the screen I cannot specify the number of frames and there is enough variability in the timing that I will not get the same number of frames every time.

What I'd like to do: I'd like to be able to have my display wait until the beginning of the next frame before showing my image. I'd also like to tell it exactly how many frames to show the image before removing it. Ideally I'd like to be able to cue up multiple images to be shown for one frame each in order (animation).

I've found a lot of information on the web about DirectX but the few tutorials I've tried are overly complicated for my needs and invariably fail to start for unspecified reasons.I don't need 3D.What I want to display would work just fine in a picture box if the timing were cleaner and predictable.

Bound To Tables In A Sql Database?

Nov 7, 2010

I have a form with 3 datagridview controls that are bound to tables in a sql database. When the form loads for the first time the data is displayed correctly. If I add data to the db on another form then show the first form again the data displayed does not include the new data. If I close the app and then open it again then the new data is displayed.I cannot figure out how to manually refresh the gridview. I have tried calling the fill method of the adapter, using the refresh method of the gridview and parent control and form with still no luck. I have a ASP.net project I'm working on also and it is so easy to refresh the sqldatacontrol and the gridview and I would have though a win form would have been just as easy if not easier.

VS 2010 - Keeping Files / Folders Synchronized Across Multiple Client Computers

Aug 10, 2011

(Currently using VB.NET 2010 Express) I'm trying to make a program, the main of which is file transfer. I'm trying to create a program that will keep files and folders synchronized across multiple client computers. I'm using a File system watcher to trigger events, and Using a simple System.Net.Sockets UDP client transfer (found via google) to transfer commands between it and itself on other computers.

Here's that code (this just sends from one textbox to another over the internet)
Imports System.Net.Sockets
Imports System.Net
Imports System.Text
Dim udpClient As New UdpClient(1024)
Dim RemoteIpEndPoint As New IPEndPoint(IPAddress.Any, 0)
[Code] .....

By this method, I can rename, move, or delete files. I want to implement file transfer, so that whenever a new file is created, or updated, my program will automatically transfer the file to the other computers and update them there.

How To Update A Database With The Value Of A Bound Checkbox

Apr 30, 2011

On a Windows form I have a checkbox bound to a datatable. In the CheckedChanged event I do .EndEdit on the bindingsource and then .Update on the tableadapter. At runtime this gives an error: "Data Table internal index is corrupted: '5'.

If I change to the Validated event, there is no error, but the new state is not sent to the data base untill focus is subsequently lost, which is a problem. So how am I supposed to get the new state of the checkbox written to the database when the checkbox state changes?

Bound Text Boxes When Database Value Is Null?

Dec 4, 2009

My application has textboxes that are bound to DataSet fields of a SQl Server 2005 database. The columns in the database allow nulls. The column properties in the DataSet have AllowDBNull set to true. Attempting to write the un-changed data back to the database replaces the NULL values with "", and the update fails on the datetime columns with an error about being unable to convert "" to a date. It appears that the problem is that the null values from the database are being converted into empty strings when the textbox is populated.

But what I want to be able to do is add a field to the database and then also bind that new field to a textbox on the form.The new field appears on the list in the Server Explorer window (on my left) but not in the data sources window (on my right.) The data sources windows has a "refresh" option but that does not help.When I manually add a textbox and try going to DataBindings in the property window the new database field is not listed.
