Sync Framework How To Determine Rows That Has Been Synchronized To SQL SERVER Database
May 5, 2011
I want to filter the SQL Compact Database to get rows that as been synchronized to the SQL SEVER Using sync framework can any one give me an hint on how to get this done. I will prefer a sample code in VB.NET
I was creating an enrollment system for my Thesis, and my adviser told me that I must have a Code in my program that Synchronize database from client and server so that if the terminal connection is "Up" the data will go to the server and if the connection is "Down" the data will go to the installed server on the the local machine. and every 20 mins or 30 mins will sync the database.
I am attempting to write a simple sync tool service using the microsoft sync framework. I am able to synchronize two locations but I would like to be able to output the files that are being synced using log4net. Does anyone know how I can do this? here is the code I using:
I am creating a Visual Basic 2008 .net application that will be using the Sync Service for ADO.NET on Windows 7 Ultimate. The back end database is SQL 2008. Below are the basic steps I take when the error occurs
a. Add a Local Database Cache item to my application b. Use the Configure Data Synchronication wizard for the setup process c. Click the OK button to accept changes d. An error message is generated, "The given key was not present in the dictionary".
I have attempted this several times and the error message presists no matter how I vary the options. I have also installed Microsoft Sync Framework 2.0 successfully but the error persists. I also have all the following Dlls referenced in my project:
I am sure I don't need all of these references but I figured it does not hurt to have them all referenced for now. I have the latest OS service and Visual Studio 2008 service packs.
I'm fairly new to the MS Sync framework and have been beating my head against the wall for about four hours now to no avail. I'm simply trying to sync my databases (one "master" SQL Server 2008 with a SQL Server CE, the client) with:
Dim syncAgent As DataCacheSyncAgent = New DataCacheSyncAgent() Dim syncStats As Microsoft.Synchronization.Data.SyncStatistics = syncAgent.Synchronize()
It works just fine in Visual Studio 2010 and always manages to sync, but now that I'm trying to implement it on my client's computers, I always get the error:
The specified change tracking operation is not supported. To carry out this operation on the table, disable the change tracking on the table, and enable the change tracking.
I have tried to set up combo boxes in the gridview but all the combo boxes have the same value in them instead of the value from the database. I am using entity framework and WPF. There is a parent child relationship between two tables but the source for the combo box is a separate table with names and IDs for tags. I have been looking all day. Hopefully this won't be too easy to solve.
The "Tag" Column displays the combo box. The Column "Tag ID" displays the value from the database. When I display the data the TagID Changes in diffrent rows but the Tag column is the same (the first choice) in all the rows. When I change one combo box they all change. I can't see where they are hooked together.
I have a datagridview that is bound to a datatable (created by dataset designer) with columns RowID, CreatedBy, UpdatedBy and some other columns for actual data.Every time a user updates a row in datagridview, I will need automatically to populate UpdatedBy column with the user ID.Every time a user adds a new record in datagridview, I will automatically populate CreatedBy with user IDI use CellEndEdit event to check whether RowID is Null to determine the row is a new row. This means I have to set RowID AutoIncrement = False. Doing this way will only allow users to add 1 row at a time before they get duplicate row exception due to 2 same RowID.
I have a new requirement to sync a DVR to an NTP server, but not sure how. I have googled and forum searched, but a lot is VB6 stuff and also for sync'ing a local computer's time. This requirement is for sync'ing time for a Digital Video Recorder on the network.
I got the following error but am perplexed why .NET thinks this DLL is located in the internet zone when clearly it is on the Intranet.
Here is the error NUNIT is throwing:
Unhandled Exception: System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'NUnit.ConsoleRunner.Runner' threw an exception. ---> System.Security.SecurityException: That assembly does not allow partially trusted callers.
Does anyone know of a way to programmatically determine which version of the .NET framework is installed on a computer? I was thinking of trying to scan the registry, but my main worry is that a user would need admin rights if trying to use the method
I have a client that has the basic database on a server(sql server 2005 express database) and wants to work on his laptop from his home, so i guess that i can install the software on his laptop but how will the 2 databases be synchronized, having same data. the synchronization will be made once a day in the morning when he returns to his office. How can this be accomplished?
How would i go about seting up a local database to store data so it can be used offline then to sync up with SQL server 2008 r2. i've got to the point of having a test project with a local DB that stores the data and a test SQL server but know idea how to set it up to sync with between databases.
I have developed a small application in VB.NET 2008. It uses .net framework 3.5. But somehow it also runs in computers with .net framework 2 or 2.5. Is there a way to determine thru code what is the latest version of .net framework the pc is running. This way I can give a warning message box that the required framework is not installed.
I'd like to know after I've executed MySqlReder = MySqlCommand.ExecuteReader() how many rows it returned. If it's one I can continue processing with the data. If it's more than one I need to populate a drop down list box.
I'm posting this in the vb.net as I will be using visual studio to perform the task. So here is what I am trying to achieve or at least achieve it more efficiently than what I am doing now.
So I have two identical database setups, both with a table , let call it table tblUsers. The local database is edited through vb.net and is a Access database. The second database is hosted on a remote server and is a MySQL databse.
Currently I have no problem connecting and editing either database through vb.net. I'm using OLE DB to connect and handle the Access database and ODBC 5.1 to connect and handle the MySQL database.
Here is what I would like to do:
User opens the program Presses the "update local" button
The program updates the local database to whatever the remote database is The user uses the program to edit fields in the local database
When done, the user presses the "Update remote" button and the remote database fields that have been edited with the program in the local database will be updated to the remote database.
Currently, the only way for me to do this is to go line by line in a for next and use a command builder to compare each field and update that way.
I am developing an desktop application using vb.net. I have an doubt, can update or sync database which are at different place. Means changes done at one place should get updated in other.
I have a dataset that I'm trying to loop through to be able to save any changes made to that dataset and update my database doing so. Can anyone offer any code to do that effectively?
I have several programs that I wrote in Visual Basic.net 2003 that I run from a server at work. We upgraded to Visual Studio 2008 recently and I converted my code to that version. I rebuilt the .exes and tried to run it from the server. It said I needed to upgrade the framework on the server, which I did. Now when I run the .exe file from the server I get a runtime error:
Runtime Error! Program: d:... This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applicaiton's support team for more information.
These programs are very important to the day-to-day operations of the company I work for. I did backup the software before converting it, so we're running normally right now, but there are modifications and upgrades I need to make as soon as possible, but cannot due to the programs crashing when I run the on the server.
Scenario: I want to develop an application. The application should be able to connect to my remote server and download data to the local disk , while downloading it should check for new files and only download the new ones simultaneously creating the required(new) folders.
Problem: I have no idea how to compare the files in the server with the ones in the local disk. How to download only the new files from the server to the local disk?
What am thinking?: I want to sync the files in the local machine with the ones in the server. I am planning to use rsync for syncing but i have no idea how to use it with ASP.NET.
I have a data bound datagridview where I am allowed to add and delete rows.So a new row is the last row in the grid with the '*'. When a user starts to type in the new row, that row no longer is considered the new row. It is then inserted into a row above the new row (*). The user, however, can press 'Esc' key and this row gets deleted. If the user does not pressed 'Esc' but move the cursor along that row, this row will be permanently there. I have tested this scenario and check the underlying dataset and it registers no changes as in the myDataset.hasChanges=FALSE.If I call myDataAdapter.Update(myDataSet), nothing gets updated. How do I save this row to the database?
I set up a test harness by checking for and then deleting records added to the db in the previous testing session, and then I test my recording adding code by adding back the same records.Interestingly this code works fine when there is a break in the debugger, but fails with a "duplicate key" exception when I let it run with no breaks, which leads me to believe there is some kind of concurrency issue. The basic metacode is as follows:
DoTest() dim j as datacontext dim recs = from myrecs in j.mythings select myrecs where myrecs.key="key1" or myrecs.key = "key2"
[code]....
I've confirmed that I'm properly deleted the previous added records, and this works fine as does adding the new records when I have a break in the code before I hit the add records step. but without the break, it throws duplicate key exceptions in the "addrecordestomytable" method suggesting that it hasn't grabbed the current version of the table when it creates the new data context in addrecordstomytable, even though the records should have already been deleted.I've tried refreshing the table, but this doesn't seem to work either.Note backing database is ms sql server 10?

What I can do: Display an image (e.g. a bitmap) by loading it into a control (e.g. picture box), showing that picture box (visible equals true / refresh) and then hiding it (visible equals false / refresh). The onset of the image onto the screen is not necessarily synchronized with the raster scan (needs to run on CRT monitor) meaning the lower portion of the image may appear one (partial) frame before the upper portion. Though I can specify (roughly) how long the image is on the screen I cannot specify the number of frames and there is enough variability in the timing that I will not get the same number of frames every time.
What I'd like to do: I'd like to be able to have my display wait until the beginning of the next frame before showing my image. I'd also like to tell it exactly how many frames to show the image before removing it. Ideally I'd like to be able to cue up multiple images to be shown for one frame each in order (animation).
I've found a lot of information on the web about DirectX but the few tutorials I've tried are overly complicated for my needs and invariably fail to start for unspecified reasons.I don't need 3D.What I want to display would work just fine in a picture box if the timing were cleaner and predictable.
Update: My problem doesn't seem to be with the SQL server. I executed an update statement inside the database manually against the view and I was able to update the Bar table. I'll close this and research the OleDbDataAdapters more since I think the problem lies with them. This question applies to MS SQL Server 2000. How do I determine which table of the multitable view can be modified?
[Code]...
I realize I can write two update statements one for each table. My concern is different. I need to audit code that uses views like the one above and does updates on the views. I was hoping to find a way to determine which parts of the updates will be silently ignored.
I edit Bar.Column1 and then call the Update() method of the OleDbDataAdapter. This results in the Bar table not being modified nor is an exception thrown. If I edit Foo.Column2 then call Update() the Foo table does get modified.
I have a program that copies files to several servers in succession. If one of those servers is unavailable for any reason, my program hangs for about a minute before it continues on to the next server. Is there a quicker way to determine if the path is available or not?
