Component To Write Solid FTP Client?

Apr 1, 2012

I failed finding a really simple Windows FTP client that any user could use, that would just prompt the user for the host + login + password, then use OpenDialog to select one or more files to upload, and just let it go. Since this tool could be used to upload files up to 10GB, it must have solid support for resume. I checked a bunch of them, and found them way too complicated.So it looks like I'll have to write my own in VB.Net but I'm no stellar programmer.Does VB.Net provide a solid FTP client component? If not, are there other (free/affordable) controls I should know about?

Deploying On Client Machines / Particularly .NET Component

This question is about deploying a VB6 application that uses an interop component created in VB.NET, specifically, a .NET dll.Using Regasm.exe, I was able to create a .tlb and use it on the dev machine to add a reference to the VB6 project, but how do I go about deploying on client machines, particularly the .NET component?

Using OPC Client To Write Array?

Jan 23, 2012

I am trying to write an array of integers from my VB OPC client but cannot do so.

I am setting my array to the ItemValueResults, then i set the ItemValueResults to a variantwrapper. I can write individual elements from the array but not the entire array.

Maybe to be able to provide a simple example of how its done correctly. I think the issue could be in defining the OPC item as an array.

Write A VB Or C# GUI Client For DotNetOpenAuth?

Mar 13, 2012

how to use the Google Calendar API, which in turn requires that I learn how to use DotNetOpenAuth to access the Google account. I made the provided samples work, and have written working code in a Console program to access and manipulate a Calendar.

I now want to write a Windows Form app (in either C# or VB) to do the same thing. I can't make the OAuth2 process work in the GUI application. It compiles and runs, but does not work. Based on what I've seen so far, I have concluded that the GetAuthorization() function is not called.

I've tried starting the process from a button click, from the constructor, and from the form Loader method. I've tried in both C# and VB.

public GoogleCal()
{
InitializeComponent();
var provider = new NativeApplicationClient(

Stream.write Client Not Getting Data

Jul 14, 2010

This app is trying to send messages to a client listening on the port. The client's logs show that their port is being opened and closed, but no data coming in. Is there a bug or something missing in the following code, like perhaps stream.flush or stream.endwrite or a thread.sleep(0) line, that could cause this? The puzzling thing is, WireShark on the client computer does show the message my app is sending coming into the listening port.

Multi Threading SQL Client Write Queries?

Dec 14, 2011

I have a MS sql database (not server), my program reads file structure from my 2 TB external drive and saves the list a records in database. I write around 80k records every time and it takes a great time.I am currently writing records by dividing them into 2 background Worker thread 40k each. My pc is Quad core Phenom II.What is the best way to achieve this and also would there be any benefits by increasing the number of threads because mine is only a 7200rpm hdd and not raid. What I mean is HDD might be a limitation?

Can't Get A SOLID Line In .NET, Just Hashed

Oct 14, 2010

I'm trying to draw a solid line if VB.NET the way I can in VB.What I WANT to do is set the pentype to solidcolor, but it says pentype is read only and you have to instantiate the brush as the pen type that you want, SO ... I do this:

Public myBrush As New SolidBrush(Color.Red)Public p1 As New Pen(myBrush, 5)

And what I get when I draw a line is a pen type that is hashed. It's a bit weird, too. The line I'm drawing is between captures of the mouse position and if I move the mouse really fast, I get an almost solid line, but if I move the mouse slowly, I get a hashed line.

Making A Solid Effort To Upconvert?

Feb 13, 2010

I am making a solid effort to upconvert myself from VB6 to VB 2008 Professional. My current issue is with querying and updating to SQL 2008 Express. In VB6 this was a simple matter of adding an ADODC to the form and creating set queries in DataEnvironment that you reference in the code.Now, I don't suppose there is anything like that method in VB2008 (if I'm wrong and there is, then yippee!) so if possible I'd like a link to a straightforward methodology of querying and updating data in a SQL Database.

Please note, I am not yet down with alot of the abbreviated code references that generally gets used in VB2008 for dealing with SQL connectivity.

Replace Dashes With A Solid Line?

Feb 23, 2012

I am using word 2010 VBA to clean up a "dot matrix" looking report. One thing I want to do is replace a row of dashes with a solid line. I think the code would look something like this:

count strings = "-------------------"
for each strin (i)
select string
delecte selection
move up
insert solid line
next (i)

Or if it can be done as a find and replace all that would be even better, but I cannot find how to replace a row of dashes (text) with a line object.

Clean Elegant Solution To Form-class Level Component Collection Initializing Before Initialize Component?

Feb 3, 2011

I am converting an old Vb6 solution to .net 2.0 in vs2010. I've been working in C# for about 3 years now and .net for 5. I don't recall having this problem in C#, but if I want initialize a readonly collection of DerivedControlFoo Is there a clean way to do it besides creating a sub to do it all off somewhere else? I'd love to be able to do it at the class level at the declaration for readability and simplicity.

Cause An Event - Draw A Solid Black Line 25 Pixels From The Top Of The Form?
