I'm using .Net. Is it possible for a web form to upload an image from a web or FTP server? The files I need to submit are on the web.

View 6 RepliesI have a text file on a website that I have the direct URL address to. For example, http://www.example.com/thisFile.txt .
I would like to copy it to a predefined path on the local machine. For example, C:Documents and SettingsAll Users .
What can I use to copy the file from the URL to the predefined path on the local machine. A simple CopyFile doesn't seem to handle URL addresses.
I have an application that takes a series of reports and sends them as attachments in an email to a specified group of email accounts.
When I run the Java version of this using apache commons and the same setting, the email is sent. However, when I run the VB.NET version of the code, it fails on my local machine and on the client machine.
I have a VB.NET web application running on a server that uses similar code. I tried that code locally and it fails. Yet, the web application is working perfectly.
Why is it that the Java application can send the email, but the .NET application cannot?[code]....
I am developing an Application in VB.Net 2.0. I have a module which would copy files from the Local Machine to a shared folder on remote machine. This shared folder on the remote machine is an authenticated folder. So, after searching on the Internet I found the following piece of code.[code]Another point to note is that when I connect to the File Share using Windows Explorer and then try to execute the application, it works properly.I am not sure why I am getting the error when I do not connect to the Shared Folder using Windows Explorer.Do I have to set some property so that the Credentials passed in the authentication are used.I also checked some posts that suggested setting up Mapped Drive to the Shared Folder on the Local machine and then to copy the file using IO.File.Copy function. However, I cannot use this as this Remote Folder should be only accessed through the application and not in any other case by the User. The users will not even have the credentials to this remote Server as it will be configured by the admin. So, Is there any way in which I can set this up and transfer the files from local machine to a remote shared folder?
View 3 RepliesWe have an app that tracks .DOC and .PDF files (and possibly other file extensions). It stores copies of them on a network share. I want to give the ability to the user to allow them to click the file in a listview, for example, and have that file open in WORD or ADOBE or whatever program is associated with that file type.

When I use:
File.Copy(strRemoteFolder, strLocalFolder)
I get an UnauthorizedAccessException with the following message: "Access to the path ... is denied."In .NET, how do I copy a file from a remote computer that requires authentication to my local machine? I understand that I'm going to need to supply a username and password in some fashion, but I don't know how to supply that information via an API in .NET.
I'm trying to upload a file to a remote server by using vbscript
below is a code :

the problem is with this code i can copy the file only in the same PC but it didn't work when i try with different machin i mean from client to server?
In our project logs files are stored in clients local only . So during any production issues we have to be waiting till they provide us the log file. What is the best way to copy the log file from clients local machine to some common path in one of our servers .

I'm writing a VB.NET WEB application and I'm fairly new at it. What I want to do is open Excel workbooks on the client workstation so the user can "Save As" or print or basically do whatever they want with it past that point. I've done this in a windows application using System.Diagnostics but all the information I've read so far doesn't seem to work. I can open .txt and .xls files using this approach:[code]but it opens in the browser, which is not what I want. Do I need to mix Javascript with the HTML and the VB code?

View 3 RepliesI need to export data into an Access database. My code works, but it works with the assumption the client machine has the Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 as a valid provider.
I want to test to see if this is true or not, in code. My problem is that I don't have the location of an existing access database and I don't want to create a new .mdb that I'd use to verify the connection and then delete it.
I Converted my project(Its contain the rdo2.0's) from vb6.0 to Vb.net 2005. Its working fine in development machine( in Development have the Vb6.0 and Vb.net 2005). View 2 RepliesI'm converting an existing VB6 command line app to VB.net as need a bug or 2 fixed. It uses 3 x Crystal Reports 9 libraries. The only errors I have now are related to CR9 (dll) code, but don't have CR9 on the VSE machine, & dont have VSE on the CR9 machine. We also have a CR11 version of this. The fellow who created them has left & we dont have VB6, he used his own.I can't seem to copy the 3 x CR9 dll's to the VSE machine to get rid of the errors, says the dll access is denied, source file may be in use.I can't install VSE on the CR9 machine so have to create/build it on the VSE machine & copy exe to the CR9 machine. I'm using Visual Studio 2010 Express running on Windows 7 64-bit. I get the same error as detailled in this link [URL] .I need to work with some data to develop the system. I think I can only do this by changing the Copy to Output Directory file property to "Copy if newer" to prevent the debugger from losing it.However this causes TableAdapter.Fill to exit from the sub immediately after executing leaving behind the other code in the form "Add_Load" routine.
View 1 RepliesI have been reading through Atheists posts in regards to client-server and TCP client/server connection's. But how do i go about writing a program with 1 client and server where the client side creates a text file.Once the server sees there is a text file it connects and downloads it to itself or the client pushes the text file to the server.Once on the server i will read the text file and put its info into a sql db.
