I'm a really new programmer, teaching myself VB .net
Basically I need user input text from fields in a panel assembled and some parts formatted ( basically italic) and displayed in text box. Really the same as MS Word dose for citation references, then it displays the input correctly.[code]...
I have a task to provide a RichTextBox control that behaves like a tooltip, ie:
1. Hovering when mouse moves
2. Remove after N seconds (customizable) or if the user closes it (by "X" button)
The regular tooltip does not provide a RichText capabilities (else I'd take it)
Should I take a form and put a RichText inside, and set the form properties accordingly? Something else?
Is there any good richtextcontrol for .net forms i tried almost all extended richtextcontrols from several websites but there is no print like view for any control, i want to add deference system in my app but there is no free control available and controls like from [url]...are very expensive for a student. iam searching from last two months but find no results and tried hard to make my own control but found no idea to start with.

View 1 RepliesI came across a post a while back which showed a custom rich textbox control which had line numbers in its margin. Similar to what you woudl see if you we coding in the VB designer and you had your line numbers viewable.
I think it was two controls in one (i.e. two textboxes: one for the numbers, and the other for the text). However I cannot remember where I saw it.
i got a problem in displaying my data from the form to rich text format. what i want to happen is that: the rich text should display the text according to the order of inputs in the form. for example: the form allows the user to make and exam with answers. what will be display in rich text are the questions from the form with answers in a separate page.

Use the code that i provided at the end of this question to understand the scenario. As far as i know, this behaviour happens only on the myspace.com web site. 1. Navigate to your myspace.com inbox page, read a message and click on the reply button to reply to the message. The page will show correctly in the web browser.2. Then click on Button1, repeat the same process (read a message in the myspace.com inbox, click on the reply button), and the textboxes where you have to enter your reply will be gone.3. Then click on Button2, repeat the same process, and the page will show correctly in the web browser.4. Then comment out or remove the oDoc_MouseDown event, click on Button1, repeat the same process, and the page will show correctly.Why does the page shows correctly when the oDoc_MouseDown event is removed? These charts will have the same format, and I will have them linked to a text box for the client to select which entity to chart.I have no clue where to start. I have gradient on a form set as follows in Example 1 below. I also have a custom panel which has its colour set as in Example 2. I want to get the same colour from Example 2 into Example 1. However I am not sure how to do this within example 1.

View 6 RepliesI've got a VB.Net form application that dynamically loads user controls based on which navigation link the user clicks on. I'd like to make it easier to use at Design time by putting a link of some sort to open the User Control at design time. The link would go onto the form in the space where the User Control will be going. This just saves a little time from having to browse through the files to open the correct file.
View 2 RepliesI am having trouble getting the Student Name entered in the Student Name Form to change the Text titles of the GroupBox's on the Main Form and Schedule Form. I understand the logic of what needs to be done to some extent, but I am having trouble coming up with the correct coding.
Below is a snippet of the Student Name Form code that I tried most recently just to see if I could get any change to happen to the other 2 Forms when the Accept Name button was clicked. As of yet, I cannot get a change to happen at all in the groupboxes of the other Forms.[code...]
I've spent all day and most of yesterday trying to find how to: 1. Detect if my printer is busy, because my code tells the printer to print more pages than it can cope with, so I need to delay the command for 'Print the next page' until the printer has finished printing the previous one.
2. Shift the output to my printer so that it gets printed in it's entirety on the paper, in stead of seemingly being anchored to some nebulous point on the A4 page. It starts printing at X = 29mm from the left edge, and Y is 28mm from the top, and stops at X = 22mm from the right edge and Y stops at 22mm from the bottom edge, leaving (aprox) 50mm of X and 50mm of Y unprinted.
3. Get useful information on Bounds, which I'm fairly certain is what I need to control where my printing should start and finish.I've hunted through this forum, MSDN, 'Help' (a misnomer if ever there was one) the VB Library and searched through one or two other forums, which either baffle me with reams of pretty much irrelevant code or suggest code to try which either just don't work or which don't declare all the variables and usually don't suggest what type of variable I need, it's all very frustrating.

We were able to use out statements (back in the old gwbasic) to send output signals to the parallel port to turn on/off different outputs. The board had connections where you could connect lights, relays, etc, and had connections where you could attach switches and sensors.
I have been looking for something simple that I can manipulate in my programs. I already have an ActiveHome X10 interface which includes an activex for receiving and sending x10 signals (home automation, turning lights on/off, etc.). I want something that I can straight out connect relays to, and sensors as well. I don't want something that connects to the serial port since that is already being used up, the parallel port would work fine, or even better usb.
Is it possible to control the output font that is pasted from the clipboard?
The text copied into the clipboard is from a string variable and does not have any font information tied to it.
