View 4 RepliesI'm just learning VB with the 2008 express edition.I'm trying to create a program that uses 3 list boxes.The first contains a list of products.After a search is preformed the second list box displays the products found.This is pretty simple, basic array stuff.My problem is moving items from the second list box into a third list box to purchase the product.I think I need to change the index numbers of the stuff I move into list box 3 because when I preform calculations with the stuff in list box 3, it seems to answer like its using the index numbers in list box1.So, how do you change the index numbers when you change list boxes?

View 2 RepliesI'm using Visual Studio 2010 Express Edition - Visual Basic.I'm very new to VB but I would like to create a program / splash screen that displays a list of files (Word, Excel, Project) that are located on a CD. I'm not sure how to start other than starting out creating a new project.
Here is how I would like the program to work. The user inserts a CD-rom (containing the program and a folder with all the files) the program automatically starts up when the CD is inserted and it displays a list of all the files on the CD. The user can click any of the files to start the program that created it. Example, if we have an Excel file called "Work Schedule", the user could click it and it would open in Excel.
After I've created the project and have a form, I'm not sure what tools I need to use to display the list of files.I'm not sure how I set up the connection (path) between the program and the folder containing all files, especially as they will all eventually be located on the same CD.
I am currently trying to create a program to list a large group of numbers for me. My final goal is to have every 2, 3, 4, ..., and 9 digit number containing only "1" "2" and "3". I thought I would go about this by using the following VB.NET program and then copying it into a text editor, and using find & replace to eliminate all other numbers.

it fails due to the massive amount of processing that needs to take place. However, adding the intervals requires a great deal of time for each number to be displayed without any crashes.
Is there some way (in VB.NEt or another language) to get the number list I want in a short (an hour or less) amount of time?
I am trying to create a program which will allow users to select multiple files from a list and then burn them all to a playable DVD. It would be wonderful if i could setup a custom menu programatically as well. I have seen some documentation on Imapi 2.0 but i have not been able to find too much suppoert for it. I have also found a few SDK's out there but most are over $1000 which just isnt in the budget.
1) Is there a library included in windows 7 that will allow me to do this.
2) Is there an inexpensive or open source sdk with good documentation out there to do this with

The idea of the program:
The program will create a personal information of every employee including the userid and password that will be use to log in (user validation) .The application will monitor the login / logout and save the task of every employee.he application will save/store the daily activity task done by the employee (login/logout time,notes, and other task assign). the information will be saved in a database which can be access by the application in every PC within the network (LAN).The application will be installed in different PC within a network(LAN). The number of PC is not yet confirmed (5-10 PCs)
The application will be used concurrently within the network.The database will be updated after the employee save his/her task.
I plan to have ONE application only, to make it simple no server type installation and client type installation needed. Just one installation type only, the functionality/privilege will depend on the login information validation.
There will be 3 account types, Manager Account (Administrator),Regular Account (Normal Employee) and Guest account.
1. How to create an application which the database will be on the other PC within the network (LAN) ?
2. How to do it during run time/design time ( the database will be on the other pc)?
3. Can I have a guide or walk through on how to do this project?
I am trying to create a username database for my program where people create a username when they first open the program and it saves it and uploads their username to an FTP text file.The problem I am having is that I want it to do this and then display ALL users that have created a username on my program and used it in a list on a textbox. I was going to have it do this by having it add all usernames to a text file on my FTP and then have it download the text file of all the users created from the FTP and load it into the textbox on the Form that displays them all.

II am trying to create a toggle button that switches a list to a range and then back to a list if needed. This is probably a really basic question - but I have a list of items (custom objects) being passed from one winform (.net 3.5) to another. I want to create a local list to store changes that only get persisted if the user clicks save. Currently if the user clicks cancel - the changes are still applied in the first form because I assume the objects are reference type.I have the save working as it calls a service layer to do the save and then refreshes the other form - but not the cancel.
