Creating And Editing An Array Of Labels?

Nov 18, 2008

i am attempting to create and then update data in Labels using VB2005.I create the label when the form is loaded using this for loop

For j As Integer = 1 To count
Dim name As String
Dim m As String
ReDim L(count)

[code]....

This creates the labels and text boxes in the form. Later in the program I would like to change the text within both the T1310() and T1550() text boxes and I am attempting to do so with the following code.

For j = 1 To count
status = OP930_SelectModule(j - 1)
status = OP930_SetWavelength(1310)

[code]....

I get errors on the Blue lines. Everything compiles fine, but when the software goes through the loop I get the error "NullReferenceException was unhandled"

Asp.net - Editing A Labels Text Value Through JavaScript?

Mar 22, 2010

I have a simple in VB/ASP.NET form containing two text boxes, I am attempting to apply some validation to the first text box using JavaScript. This is the first time I have attempted this and am having some trouble.I have a label beside the text box stating an error, this labels visibility property is set to False. I wish the labels visibility to turn true if the text box is empty when the user loses focus.For this I have used the onBlur option within the tags of the text box. It then calls the JavaScript function and should set the label to Visible but it does not. I have tested to see if it is entering the function by using an alert instead and that works. The problem seems to be trying to alter the visibility property of the label.

Here is the portion of my code:

The JavaScript:
function myRegEx(frm) {
if ( boxUsername.value == "" ) {
invalidUser.visible = True;

Creating Labels At Runtime?

Aug 14, 2009

I'm trying to make labels at runtime. The idea is to create them on the fly in runtime.

I have this on my form:

btnAdd
txtName
txtAge

[Code]....

Which work fine, but if I want to create another label, how do I check to see if one or more labels have already been created and then apply a new location of the new label? (so it doesn't get override on the same location on the form?)

Creating Sequentially Named Labels?

Oct 14, 2010

I am using a variation of Stanav's example from the previous post seen in Sub dd_Inhoud_Labels. The first 3 Subs (Add_Titel_Label, Add_Byskrif_Label & Add_Lewering_Label) is allso shown below so you can see what I am leading up to. Sub Add_Inhoud_Labels is not only responsible for creating labels but allso placing them acording to the location and size of the previos label and allso ather properties as Font and so on depending on the marker at the start of the text string saved in the data base.The problem I can not get solved is that only the last of the Inhoud Labels seem to be created, it seem to be in the correct location as last label as seen in the pic below

Dynamically Creating Labels In An If...then Statement?

Oct 20, 2011

This may be simple, but im having a tough go at it. I'm trying to make a "review" section in a step through form, where the user can see everything that has been entered and if they choose go back and "edit" that information again. One section only has to show the information that has been added by the user, basically if they don't select a certain checkbox there is no reason to display the info for that box.I want to to dynamically create labels in a Panel (Panel7) on a TabPage (TabPage3), only for the checkbox information that was selected. This is what I have right now, and I am unable to see anything on the page, I have also tried without the panel and straight onto the tabpage itself to no avail.

MsgBox(CurPat, MsgBoxStyle.Critical)
If (CurPat = "True") Then
Dim lblTemp As New Label

Forms :: Creating Labels That Can Be Dragged Around Dynamically?

May 9, 2010

I'm currently making an application that involves time tables / scheduling. I'm required to generate a timetable for school teaching activities. in this application, I want to display the time slots using labels and I want to enable users to drag them around to place the subject cards in the available slots. I'm even confused with the control to use for the time slots. Right now I'm thinking of using datagridview for the time slot. So I'm trying to drag the labels around and placing them in the datagridview cells.

Editing Picturebox On Panel Array?

Jan 14, 2012

editing a picturebox...i have a class called panelArray and it builds an array of panels based on the number of panels i pass it...each panel has 4 labels and a picturebox added to it when the panel is created. I'm able to edit the labels by using something like:

Me.HostForm.Controls.Item(replaceIndex).Controls.Item(2).Text = ""

Since there are 5 objects total (1 picturebox & 4 labels) i thought i would be able to just use the same strategy for the picturebox, but it doesn't like using Image in the same manner it uses .Text?

Array Of Labels - Converting String Into Object

Apr 2, 2012

So, I'm creating an array of labels. I have labels set up as:
labal1
label2
label3
etc...

I've declared the array as such:
Dim labelArray(5) As Label

Now, instead of assigning the labels one by one to the array (labelArray(0) = label1, labelArray(1) = label2, etc...), I was hoping to use a loop (there will be more than 5 labels). I have something like this, which obviously doesn't quite work:
For i = 0 To labelArray(i) = "label" & i Next
Is there a function that I can use to convert the labelName string to an object, or have vb.net see that as an object instead of a string?

Creating An Array From A CSV Text File And Selecting Certain Parts Of The Array?

Mar 20, 2011

I have a Comma Separated value file in .txt format... simply put, its a bunch of data delimited by commas and text qualifier is separated with ""For example:

"So and so","1234","Blah Blah", "Foo","Bar","","","",""
"foofoo","barbar","etc.."

Where ever there is a carriage return it signifies a new row and every comma separates a new column from another.My next step is to go into VB.net and create an array using these values and having the commas serve as the delimeter and somehow making the array into a table where the text files' format matches the array After that array has been created, I need to select only certain parts of that array and store the value into a variable for later use.... how to make the array and selecting the certain info out of it..

App. To Create An Control Array At Runtime That Will Consist Of Up To 50 Data Bound Labels

Mar 13, 2010

I need my app. to Create an Control Array at runtime that will consist of up to 50 Data Bound Labels. The app. will first be checking the 1st database field (Ing1) to see if there is data, if so then only create the 1st Data Bound Label (lblIng1) and then check the next field and so on.

The problem is that VB 2008 dos not seem to support Control Arrays. There must be another way to work around this.

VS 2005 : Put Existing Labels Into An Array (to Loop Through And Change .text Property)?

Jun 23, 2011

I am writing an app to be a single button failover of a set of mirrored SQL servers. The app has to handle several other functions (enable/disable and start/stop of services, writing to local registry, copying files from server A to server B, initiating stored procedures, etc.)I have a collection of labels that indicate the status of 4 services on 2 servers, I wrote a function to check the services when passed the machine name, and the service name. Originally I just called the function 8 times (4 services, 2 machines) and populated the labels 'manually'. I have all of this within a timer so that the service status is refreshed every couple seconds. Id like to clean up the code to a single for/next loop that operates on 2 arrays (an array of service names, and an array of labels) such as:

'**Fetch_Status is the function that gets service status, it accepts 2 strings, machine name
'**and service name and returns status "running", "Stopped", as my_status
Dim Services() As String = {"Service1", "Service2", "Service3", etc.}

[code]....

The only reason I want the control array is to be able to use the .Text and .BackColor properties of the labels in the loop. If I make an array of strings with the label names it doesnt seem to pick that up.
